Sibob
Just seen that Bryan Beller has reported that Mike Lull has passed away suddenly and unexpectedly. I havenāt noted this in the thread title, just as new details come through. But yes, very sad if true, clearly one of the most respected builders in the world. Merton
Very sad news, his basses are so well loved and respected the world over.
AndyTravis
Bloody awful. Iāve been a Lull fan since about 1997 because they were seen as part of the upper echelons of super Jās and thatās when I started playing. Owned a lull for a good while, and it was brilliant. Happy Jack
I am SO sorry to read this. I was really hoping to meet him, perhaps at this year's NAMM, but it never happened. Ā
Silvia Bluejay
Problem is, he wasn't at NAMM this year. We searched the exhibitor list but couldn't find him anywhere.
Doctor J
Sad news. I have never played one of his basses, but they are incredibly well respected.
thodrik
Really sad news. Never played a Lull but those T4 and T5 models were gorgeous.

ricksterphil
Just read the news. Very sad! I'll be thinking of him tomorrow when playing my M4V at a gig. Thank you for the music Mike, may you rest easy in Master Luthier heaven!
AndyTravis
He was a true gent. Messaged me about the bass I pictured above personally. Made me feel part of his family- even though he didnāt owe me anything.

IanA
Very sad news, I have owned 3 of his basses and the necks were probably the best I have ever played. RIP Mikeš¢

chris_b
This is shocking news. I'm stunned. I've been playing a Mike Lull PJ5 for 8 years and it's one of the best basses I've picked up. I've seen the guys in the shop are going to carry on. Excellent news.
NancyJohnson
6Just read this on Facebook.Ā Awful news. I've got a pair of Lulls, profess I didn't really know about his stuff until a few years ago, but it was (on paper at least) good enough for me to move away from many Gibsons to a couple of his. Amazing basses, not once have I felt the need to move them on to get something else. Rest peacefully chap. Ā
Chiliwailer
So sad šĀ I went to his workshop a few years back, he was a perfect host and clearly a warm and genuine guy. Just for fun, Mike was excitedly asking me to try an original 57 P Bass he was working on, which I did, but I was moreĀ excited about playing his own P Bass and the beauties hanging onĀ the wall. I owned a few of MikeāsĀ basses, thereās one I really shouldnāt have let go of in hindsight as I sold it for a more expensive vintage bass I couldnāt really afford,Ā @AndyĀ has her now Ā RIP MikeĀ Ā
Graham
What tragic news, thoughts with his family. The Lulls I've tried have all been astonishingly good instruments and the T pickups he designed are some of the best I've ever heard.
