Looking through some old pics on my phone, found a few of my first Sandberg. Miss this bass, it was heavy, which is why it was moved on but what a looker. Think it found its way to the USA after I moved it along.

I only made one bass gear purchase this year. A new build Smith Black Tiger BSR 6 ordered Christmas last year. Couldn’t be happier with it

Of course, cutting & pasting screenshots of his abuse here helps show him for what he is. And, were such a need arise, the whole thread would be evidence, which would undermine any such "poor little me" strategy. I've tried to stay above any name-calling/abuse/etc., despite the attempted provocation, as it serves no purpose; sticking to the moral high-ground is the correct approach.

No word of a lie, she just told me 10 minutes ago that it makes her happy seeing me happy with a bass guitar. If that is not a win in life then I don't know what is. 😂😂

I've had a fretless a few times. I end up sounding just like I do on a fretted but sometimes slightly out of tune, and with more slides. Probably tells you more about my playing than fretless though.

And off! No issues or damaged maple, so happy.

Well this bass landed on my doorstep on Christmas Eve, & fair to say i haven't put it down since. I'm predominately a Fender player, apart from a spell where i played a Stingray which ended up, quite literaly, being a pain in the shoulder if the gig went on too long!! I've always fancied a Spector, & liked the look of the Euro's, but being left handed the only ones that seemed to come up were the cheaper Legends. Then last week i noticed this Spector Euro 4 Classic come up on the Bass Direct website, so i decided i'd take the plunge. So pleased i did, just plugged in around the house it's amazing, can't wait to try it out at gig levels. Such a shame as any normal year it would have already been out to play at a Boxing day gig. Added bonus it only weighs 3.5kg ( 7lbs 10oz ) due to weight-relieved North American Maple body wings 😊

So my incredible other half surprised me on Christmas morning and gave me this incredible Sandberg that I had been drooling over since it landed at Bass Direct. I feel very very lucky indeed to have a girly that would do this and the fact that it is the best Sandberg I have ever played or owned. My older two (one I sold a while back) were the first generation ones and I had only played one of the second generation ones a few years back and had noticed the improvements they had made. Safe to say this thing has blown me away with how good it is and I love it to bits already. I just thought I would share some porn shots with you. My old TM2 is now hiding scared.

Check this out. This would have helped me a lot when deciding about pickup placement for modding my Precision bass. This must have taken forever to do!

I enjoyed that project, used it for 3 gigs with a soul singer. It was a gear4music jobbie. Had a mate who worked in their stockroom. it had a faulty machine head and was returned: I paid £60 for it, £10 for the wood and glue, a machine head was in my parts draw. I sold it for £150, with a clean conscience - was a great bass, plugged in was warm and clear - and the volume was acceptable for unplugged practice.

To be honest, as long as you have something to hold the strings up and adjust the intonation, then the loose end can be attached to the body with fence staples Have a look at Crimson Guitars Nebula, the ball ends are hooked on little brass rods with a Gibson style saddle to adjust.

We have a slotted fretboard...... now to get the wenge one off, and make 21 (or maybe 22) maple fretlines...... going to take me ages, but worth the effort I think.

Slow as $&7)$, but we glued some Mahogany and cut a rough body shape! Also did a “design” ..... just having some fun really. Fun bass, so it needs a quirky design. As most that will have followed builds I do know, the process tends to dictate the outcome so I never make CAD drawings or such.

The Basschat proscription against discussions of issues related to the UK-EU schism might make a modicum of sense for reasons of etiquette, but it is surely reasonable to put in place some basic notification that conditions are changing. Part of Basschat is devoted to commercial activities. Discussion of related changes -- and blanket notification that there will be changes, so caveat emptor -- is not only legitimate but also helpful. It doesn't have to be set in stone.

At least there IS a bass player there. The last couple of times I saw Winwood he wasn't using a bass player. He was playing with bass pedals, which I thought limited the band.

When I was a kid I wanted to be something different every 15 minutes: wildlife photographer, join the air force, archaeologist, astrophysicist, hitman (well, this was not 100% serious, more like 90% ), erm... paid-ladies'-companion (80%? ), park ranger, professional judoka, astronaut, a bar owner by the beach on a remote island (I just wanted the bar, not the customers, except my friends 😛 )... Then I discovered music and I started moving towards electronic engineering than killing (bad) people for money. I figured I could make people wish they were dead instead by playing guitar really badly and I could still make some money in the process without having to deal with deeper moral issues. As usual, life had its own plans and I ended up doing something else entirely, but Leon and Ghost Dog (The way of the samurai) are still two of my favourite movies

I have a few different ones, mooer, Rockboard, Harley benton. The Rockboard states that it delivers 1 amp from each output suggesting that they're separated. Anyhow I have managed to sort it out by giving that one problem pedal its own power supply and removing one of the digital pedals altogether. Next stop is a decent noise suppressor, just as a belt and braces measure.

I can do all that with my Westone 'The Rail' bass with a sliding pickup!

You’ll have fun - there is no right or wrong settings on either one or order - so many variables at play, but as ever with T21 dials a little goes a long way so the only thing I would defo advise is small turns at a time, when you get ear fatigue, step away for a few mins and return or you will lose definition. Nowt wrong with clank into clank either!

When I was a kid all I ever wanted to do was be a commercial diver. I got a job in a dive centre and was aiming to get on a course at the dive school. Then I got into the band, drink, drugs and girls. I stupidly thought we could make a living out of playing. I never went for any chances I had as I didn't want to leave the band. Now I'm middle aged, I realise youth is wasted on the young.

I saw him last year with Louie Vega and Soul Frito at the Royal Festival Hall. He is just unbelievable. One of the most brilliant bassist of all time IMO. NyYorican Soul is in my top 5 albums.

I want to thank everyone in here who insisted that this thread would stay open and public. Just caught up with it. Mr. Mason is lucky indeed so few people that fell for his antics took action with Police, legal ways or just plain accepted his invites to have a ‘chat’, as attempting to write on a keyboard or even play bass with a few broken fingers I’m told can be challenging. Just as another word of warning from someone who used to study conmen and scams for a few years (of which by the way he is only the latter, as conman is too much of a compliment for such a...silly Willy), obviously do not give any credence to anything he says - starting from ‘I’ve shipped your pedal’ to ‘I’ll sue you’ to ‘I’m coming over for a wee chat’. Just do not engage in angry countertalk as it fuels the scammer with the knowledge you are all still pending from his lips to get your own money back. Do not cede to conditions to get your money back. Stay calm and collected, pat him on the head and let it flow underneath your feet while you compile fraud and police reports. Do not give belief in any of his friends or associates contacting you on their behalf. Do not give belief if he tells you he’s talking to the police and *he* needs info from you to forward the police. Do not give belief if you get contacted by an ‘attorney’ or a ‘legal representative’ shortly after you’ve asked your money back or threatening to take legal action. If anyone falls for this specifically, they will go into the ‘sinker’ part of ‘hook, line and sinker’ and the scammer will manage to get even more money out of you. Do not fall for the thought process of ‘why would he do that for 50 or 100 quid? He gigs around/has a job/whatever’. This is literally the same argument thieves (and we are talking about people stealing millions) make when caught on fingerprints ‘why would I do it that way? I’d have worn gloves’ - the reason is because they’re lazy and incompetent, for if they weren’t, they wouldn’t be stealing or get caught in the first place. And although I do sympathise with anyone who has an addiction of any kind, do not give belief when the scammer hides behind those things as they are just another layer of lies. He finds himself in quite the unlucky situation of someone who not only has been exposed and now reported a few times, but also has a recorded criminal history and keeps forging identities and protected material, thus creating even more criminal liability on top of what would have been a ‘simple’ product fraud/attempt issue. I can’t help much more if not by saying that I am willing to chip in with SERIOUS amounts for help with legal costs against this person, as it will be sunk money for everyone even when the cases will be won. Let’s be clear, very few people will get their money back from it regardless. Even Her Majesty can’t squeeze blood out of a rock. Most of the times, those people live by flipping profits from a scam to the next, and they stay overexposed for way too long and will NEED to scam MORE people in order to give YOU your money back. And guess what, once they do, a good portion of the cases they will think ‘well...I’d rather keep this money now’. I am glad to see a good portion of the basschatters who were victims going out of their way to keep this thread healthy and alive. Scammers make it a matter of principle and so should you all. Just like the magnificent guy who knocked on every door until he found his house, then magically the money appeared on his bank account. THAT, by the way, Mr. Mason, is how you successfully threaten people, and how you are a class act about it (I can say for sure if I had been in their shoes, I definitely wouldn’t have been happy with just being refunded, I’d have definitely insisted on sitting down with him and have a nice...group videochat with the rest of the BC fellas myself) I’m sorry for the lengthy and frankly quite useless post, but after eating through 30-odd pages, my blood has been boiling non stop and this helped calm me down a bit. Seriously guys - that really does give Steve a voice on this topic that we would be very foolish to ignore.

Thanks for all the suggestions so far guys. He's been learning the drums since he was 8, doing the Rockschool grades and I've supplemented this by playing along and jamming with him on bass since day one. He's got an interesting taste in music which is fairly broad but his fave is electronic music, specifically early Daft Punk 🤤. It's interesting how he gets really into this sparse music while if i show him something awesome on YouTube he's like 'meh'! He might stick to the drums (or possibly drop it at some stage i guess) but he's such a fast learner it works be a shame if he didn't at least have a crack at the greatest instrument of all during this amazing stage of his life where he can learn new things with so little effort. During 2020 he's became my main gigging partner (If you count playing in front of the cats as a gig, which I now do...).
