BassAgent Posted January 23 Share Posted January 23 You might recognize it: you crave for a certain bass, even if you know it's not meant for you. You don't like it, you'll never use it, it doesn't fit in your arsenal or some other reason. But still, you know you want one. I have that with fretted Stingrays. I know I don't use a Stingray in the bands I play in. I've owned a USA Sterling, which I really admired for the build quality and playability. I like their looks. I've no use for one, it wouldn't fit in any of my bands, they're so ugly it's beautiful... their only redeeming feature is that you can use the headstock as a bottle opener. But if a Fender Modern Player Dimension bass (the one with the triplebucker) ever appeared in white at a knockdown price, my abstinence would be under severe threat! BigRedX Posted January 24 Share Posted January 24 Being a strictly 5-sting and Bass VI player these days there are plenty of basses that exist only in 4-string version which I like the look of but would never actually use if I owned them. If I had the money I'd buy a good example of each of those useless (to me) 4-string basses and get excellent luthiers to use them as templates to make me 5-string or Bass VI versions that I could use.
