Hang on, you haven’t been to a gig since 2013?

I've been to see tribute bands but not originals band.  I was trying to keep it to originals bands otherwise we'd be looking at local pub bands on the list. Here's just a few of the tributes i've seen last few years

MacFloyd - every year for past 5yrs (i know the bass player)

Ultimate Bowie - every year for past 3-4yrs. Best tribute band i've ever seen

Led Zep story - on / off past 10yrs cause i know them

Talk of the Devil Ozzy tribute - cause i know them

Status Quoing - cause we supported them and will be again in March

Hellbent Forever -  was there to see Talk of the Devil supporting them

@hiram.k.hackenbacker trying to keep it to concerts rather than local pub bands. Some of the tribute bands i've seen i would class as concerts too altho i didn't include them.

Happy to include any concert size gigs tho

First - Possibly Stan Kenton, or Buddy Rich late '70s-ish. Went to several jazz gigs in my early/mid teens and can never remember the order.

First non-jazz - Hawkwind '79, Preston. All the jazz gigs had not prepared me for lasers, strobes, volume and the smell of pot. Blew my head off and changed my life.

Last - Lissie, Stoller Hall Manchester.

Best - Fleetwood Mac at Maine Road. Had always wanted to see them outdoors.

Worst - not sure. Stones at Maine Road? Assuming we're taking name bands of course. Seen some truly abysmal cover acts.

Loudest - Dragster at Motorheadbangers party at the Ritz, maybe '82-ish.

Seen the most - Hawkwind.

Most surprising - prob Less Than Jake at Leeds Festival. Had never heard of them. They were fantastic. Actually, scratch that. Manowar, Apollo '84. Went for a laugh and came out a changed man. All hail!

Next - Babymetal, Apollo.

Wish - ABBA, anything with Sandy Denny but especially Fotheringay, Genesis circa Seconds Out, Hawkwind circa Space Ritual, Zero 7 at Glastonbury, Radiohead at Glastonbury 2017, Kate Bush (especially '79).

OK - I’ll play along.....

First concert - I’m not quite sure about this. I’m pretty sure it was Genesis at Wembley in 1981.
Last concert - The Aristocrats @ Islington, London 25/1/20
Best concert - Far far too many to choose from. I’ll get back to you on that one.
Worst concert - The Police at Twickenham in September 2007. Can’t remember which night. Terrible (music) venue. Awful sound.
Loudest concert - Up until 2007 I would have said one of the many Motorhead gigs I’ve been to over the years, but Heaven & Hell (Black Sabbath with Dio) at Wembley on 10/11/07 was louder. A lot louder!!
Seen the most - Mmm, tricky. Probably Rush. Possibly Clutch. Not sure.
Most surprising - Deep Purple. I knew they were gonna to be good, but wow! Just wow!
Next concert - Quite a few coming up, but the next one is The Musical Box on 22/2/20
Wish I would have seen - A lot to choose from, but Whitesnake 1980 probably wins it. Live In The Heart Of The City is one of my favourite live albums. Paice, Lord, Marsden, Murray and Moody - what a combination. Ironically, I’m not a massive fan of Coverdale, but that band rocked.

EDIT: Didn’t know it was original bands only, in which case my next gig will be Sons of Apollo on 19/2/20 at Islington, London.

Saw Whitesnake 1980. In fact saw them a few times in that era. They were a good band then.

Loudest - Level 42 at Portsmouth Guildhall around 1984

Absolutely. crazy.  DB's.

So loud that I could see that quite a few punters (including myself) had their fingers in their ears after the first few moments and were leaving well before the end - it was beyond painful, possibly deep into permanent hearing damage level.

I wasn't even near the front.

My ears rang for 3 days afterwards.

Loudest concert - Sheep On Drugs at Windsor, Old Trout, I was pretty much deaf for the next 24 hours.
Seen the most - Wedding Present
Most surprising - Robbie Williams, V Festival 1998 (was actually one of the best acts on that day... Along with James).

First concert - Jiving Daleks at the Albion, Chester, 1979, closely followed by Ian Dury and the Blockheads at Deeside 1979

Last concert - Haven't seen a big band for years - not since Hall and Oates in Birmingham 2003ish. Twas cheesey… Lots of local bands though!

Best concert - Either time I saw Ian Dury (2nd time at Madstock where we had backstage passes), or Kraftwerk at Liverpool Empire 1980ish, or Chilli Peppers at the Mean Fiddler 1987ish, or Bootsy at the Barbican 1997ish, or Jonas Hellborg at the Bass Clef in 1992 or so, or perhaps Butthole Surfers at the Mean Fiddler, 91ish

Worst concert - Lost Virgins From Outer Space at the Opera on the Green (terrible! couldn't even tune their own instruments) or Primal Scream at the Town and Country Club - the sound was appalling and they played very badly!

Loudest concert - Swans at the Mean Fiddler. Eek!

Seen the most - Wilko Johnson or Ozric Tentacles

Most surprising - Sky Architect

Next concert - Wilko Johnson in Shrewsbury

Wish I would have seen - Sex Pistols when they played Quaintways in Chester. They wouldn't let me in!

Most surprising - Elkie Brooks - Coventry Theatre 1978

Unless she played there twice in 1978, I was at the same show!

Had some good/big names at the Coventry theatre around then, also saw (with Mrs B!) Cliff Richard, Elton John's "one man" show (with Ray Cooper!), and The Shadows.

First concert - MC Hammer, Birmingham NEC, circa 1990

Last concert - It's been a while - I think it was Australian Pink Floyd at Liverpool Arena last year

Best concert - Propagandhi, Birmingham Irish Centre, 2001

Worst concert - Alt-J, Brighton Centre, 2013. I think part of me died that night. Or at least I realised for the first time that I no longer got what the kids were into. As a subsection of this answer, the biggest let-down was System Of A Down - phoning it in is an understatement. This was Toxicity era too - they were clearly over it even then!

Loudest concert - hard to say: the gigs that have felt loudest have tended to be little local bands who bring oversized rigs to undersized venues. Of the bigger names, I'll go with Sepultura, Wolverhampton, 1996. They were absolutely amazing despite the fact that Max Cavalera actually got kicked out the following day! They must have been true pros because they weren't letting their internal issues get in the way of putting on a show.

Seen the most - No Use For A Name (RIP)

Most surprising - Guns 'N' Roses, Leeds Festival 2002 - ok so not an actual concert but it warrants a mention. They didn't come on until about 1am, when everyone had just about given up hope that they would actually turn up. And Buckethead did a nunchuck solo. It was ridiculous and amazing.

Next concert - Rammstein!!! Finally.

Wish I would have seen - Nirvana...

I'm fairly indifferent to them these days, but my 13-year-old self worshipped them had tickets to see them at Aston Villa Leisure Centre in 1994. The gig was postponed when KC went into rehab and the new date never happened for obvious reasons.
