  2. I’m having a big clear out of basses, strings and pedals. Pretty much anything that I am no longer going to be using so that I can reduce my collection to just 1 main bass, a back up and the pedals that I need. I bought this immediately prior to taking a year out from playing so it's never seen a gig since I bought it and still has whatever flatwounds were on it when I bought it. I had one of these bass in the early 90s and fancied another. Plus it was a cheap way to remind myself that I'm not very good on fretless and to stop eyeing up other fretless basses on the marketplace 😂 It has marks here and there consistent with a 34 year old bass and the volume and tone controls are a bit scratchy but I never noticed any noise when playing, only if you let a note ring out and then turn those controls. I will be supplying a gig bag with this as it didn't come with one. Looking at all of the other basses I'm listing it looks like I must have bought a job lot of Thomann gig bags as they appear next to each bass 🤔😁 I think that this is the lightest bass I have coming up for sale at a positively featherweight 7.8lbs. Collection preferred but I am happy for you to arrange a courier as I have plenty of packaging materials to ensure that this is well packed.

  3. I was listening to some songs from my old band the other week and kinda missed my maple necked P bass, glorious Fender Japan '57ri sunburst with a gold plate I added (if you have it give me a shout!) ... so went looking on eBay at maple necked Precisions.... Years back I lived in Glasgow for a year and found an old beat up Cimar 1905 model Jazz bass from 1975ish bought it knowing a friend was going to have it, @Bassassin helped me fix it up, and it was just fun thing, fun to play and a bright bouncy sound.... nice. I regretted selling it to the mate (although he has loved it since.) And then in my search on eBay for a precision I found a Jazz like the cimar ... and stuck in a bid... and lost.... A week later I got a second chance offer and a few days later it arrives - sold as broken from someone selling for a family member. So other than knowing what it was maybe going to be like a bit of a risk... So it's a Japanese made 1975-76 ish Jazz bass, the headstock is branded Diplomat who I think were a kiwi distributor, but it's very close to both the other one and assassin's one - so Cimar/Ibanez/ Fujigen build probably. It's ash and maple, kinda cheap - pressed tuners that look cheap but seem to work well, square end bridge, the old curved end Japanese pickups, the most evil bridge design known to man, the pots which need replaced and just a bright engaging tone... first thing I found taking it out the box was wasn't far off being in tune that the neck relief was spot on. A good sign. Though the action was High. Then I noticed that the evil bridge had something missing... so the evil sticky out screws to adjust the height are on the bottom, with the nice rounded ends facing up (an improvement) - but the adjustment screws... erm... but the intonation was pretty much spot on... And then soldering the wires back - I imagin they were broken when the old owner tried to fix the dodgy pots... and it comes alive... And yeah they feel, look and sound like TI jazz flats on it too! So yeah my new precision bass ...

  4. I’m having a big clear out of basses, strings and pedals. Pretty much anything that I am no longer going to be using so that I can reduce my collection to just 1 main bass, a back up and the pedals that I need. I bought this in early 2024 prior to taking a year off playing and it’s been sitting in it’s gig bag since then. I had a BB425 and BB1025 back when they were new and for some crazy reason sold both of them. Easily the best passive 5 string bass I’ve played. When this one came up for sale I had to go for it. It’s clearly been played before I got it as there’s a fair bit of buckle rash / swirling on the back of the body, there are scratches on the chrome control plate and something has rubbed against the pickups. In addition to this the previous owner has removed the pickup selector switch and rewired this VVT. There was a minute amount of scratchiness when turning the pots but I put that down to the fact that it’s been sat unused for 18 months. I actually forgot how good this sounded until I tried it prior to listing it but I’ve decided that I am never going to play a 5 string again so there’s no point in hanging onto it and I may as well offer it to someone who will get the use of it. The weight of this bass is exactly 10lbs but doesn’t seem to feel that heavy when worn on a strap. Comes with it’s original Yamaha top quality gig bag. Given the modifications and condition, I would be looking for £550 collected. Collection preferred but I am happy for you to arrange a courier as I have plenty of packaging materials to ensure that this is well packed.

  5. The asking price is now only £1350 £1275. This is a great price for an early Cs and the case is worth over £100 alone Here we have an early CS Jass that I acquired a few years ago It was refinished in a deep pink colour, I took off the neck and could see that it was originally a Daphne blue colour I had my Luthier strip it right back and professionally finished in the original colour that it left the factory Luckily the neck stamp and pocked stamp were intact and you can still see some of the original colour in the pocket Binding has been applied to the outer edges of the neck Gold tuners, knobs, control plate and screws are original to the bass, new gold bridge installed I had the scratchplate imported from the states which is 62-66 period correct The pickups that came with it were not that great and not original to the bass so I have installed Fender customshop vintage 60's ones The gold bridge cover came with the bass so I dont know if the original one got replaced at some stage I can just about make out the date as June 1988 or 89 A battery compartment had been added at the back and a toggle switch to the control plate as an active circuit was installed but the original circuit reinstated No case came with it but I will add a Fender moulded case to keep it safe for travel Weight is 4.4 Kg's A black strap and strap locks as pictured are also included any question please fire away

  7. So I had to engage in a glue fight to get the fingerboard glued on ... hide glue everywhere including my bench, the floor, my hand towel, countless rags to clean up squeeze out ... er and my eyebrows! So from this ... to this ... A couple of hours on the bass before work today - went in for 7.00 as I wanted peace and quiet to do the glue up ... with no phone ringing! After 'gluemageddon' and a couple of hours of clamping ... Neck bolts snugged up to a pair of temporary nuts ... and technically the bass could be strung up and tested tomorrow ... but I've a few more things to do yet. The nuts are temporary as I found the stainless steel neck bolts I had bought are about 10mm too long to tighten fully ... gurrr ... more on order from Accu. I glued in the nut and started doing sone assessment of how much needs to be trimmed off the bridge feet to match them to the belly curve. not much as it goes. Looking forward to hearing its first notes in perhaps 30+ years soon. Then it'll be looking to a re finish.

After a mare of a practice where the kemper wasn’t happy wanted to not rely on with the midi side of things so I’m switching from the kemper controller to the Morningstar mc6 and I’ll run the midi out to switch a few things on the kemper in time obviously it will work well with the ML10x under the hood the sl20 was a pog 2 but it’s poorly pattern trem after fuzz sounds cool

  12. I’m having a big clear out of basses, strings and pedals. Pretty much anything that I am no longer going to be using so that I can reduce my collection to just 1 main bass, a back up and the pedals that I need. Bought brand new earlier this year I think 🤔 this is a 2023 Fender Player Precision, going by the serial number, in Seafoam Green with Pau Ferro fretboard. I fancied a set of Bartolinis after watching a video with Freddie Washington so went the whole hog and paired them with a Six String Supplies prewired solderless harness. I wanted to have the option to return the bass to stock if needs be so I removed the original scratchplate with the pots still intact, even going as far as to remove the bridge to allow me to thread the earth wire through without having to desolder it. This is a replacement scratchplate that I bought for it. I don’t actually think it has left the house since I bought it and as such is in mint condition. Although it’s not one I’ve gigged, I am going to miss it. It’s such a stunning looking bass. Some of the pictures show it with Hipshot Ultralites but I have since removed them for another bass. I have refitted the original tuners, still with the original cellophane covers and hangtags fitted The weight of this lovely bass is 8.2lbs. I have a couple of options depending on what the buyer wants: For the bass as you see it, along with the original pickups, scratchplate and a brand new gig bag I would like £600. £500 for the bass returned to stock, still including the brand new gig bag. Collection preferred but I am happy for you to arrange a courier as I have plenty of packaging materials to ensure that this is well packed.

  13. As-new Shergold Telstar shortscale bass in Champagne Gold finish. Wonderful bass, plays and sounds fantastic, but with a couple of bills to pay, and a number of other excellent instruments, I need to downsize a little, last in, first out unfortunately. Roasted maple neck on these too, which is a nice feature! Comes with a very simple gig-bag/cover. It’s not suitable for shipping in, so collection or meet-up in/near High Wycombe, Bucks on this one. £285 Trade wise, I’m after a Sire P5R 5 string, preferably in white. Probably with a few quid your way. Also looking for a Guild Starfire II in 'Natural' (the dark wood finish), with money your way of course. Cheers Si

  14. This is a TC BH800 class d amp. You know what it is... I've liked this amp but I'm trying out a new setup and this is no longer needed so... I have a one-in, one-out rule! Used at a gig this week and it delivered really well. It's on for £235 delivered (I don't have the original box but it'll be well packaged), if you want come and try it out first and collect in person I'll take the cost of postage off. Specs here https://www.tcelectronic.com/product.html?modelCode=0707-ACF Any questions just ask. Kettle lead included just because lord knows I don't need all the ones I have...

  15. Mesa Diesel cab in great condition for its age. 400w 8 ohm. I bought this last year from @Chimike on this forum so from a reputed and respected basschatter. I’ve not used it anger, just low volume at home. I do have another one as well if someone is looking for a pair. Traynor amp not included, although it is for sale.

  19. Finally got these pickups routed out, I paid a local luthier to do this as I couldn't trust myself. I've fitted an old vintage modified p bass squier neck for now, nut will source a decent maple neck soon. Just need to wire it up all at the weekend and try it out

  20. For sale is my washburn AB10 acoustic bass in black. This was originally bought new by the previous owner to learn on, however it was left for years and the action was like the fourth bridge. I took it to a local tech, who took the truss rod as far as itll go, and cut the bridge saddle adjusted the break angle to lower the action. Its been fitted with some TI jazz flats, its got a very playable medium/low action, but there is some unavoidable buzz roughly around fret 14 owards(tech suggested a fret levelling would cure this, you wouldnt need to go up there anyway 😊) id suggest keeping those strings on. The preamp works perfectly and sounds great. Ive no case so would prefer collection, but would post at buyers risk. £150

  21. I’m having a big clear out of basses, strings and pedals. Pretty much anything that I am no longer going to be using so that I can reduce my collection to just 1 main bass, a back up and the pedals that I need. I have always loved single coil P basses but I am never going to have the opportunity to play this live so I may as well let it go to a good home. Used for 1 gig in 2023, it's pretty much in mint condition, right down to the fact that the plastic is still on the scratchplate. It also comes fitted with a set of Ernie Ball 2810 flats that I had already bought for a 5 string. Collection preferred but I am happy for you to arrange a courier as I have plenty of packaging materials to ensure that this is well packed.

  22. Up for sale a time machine beauty, Yamaha TRB6P, Made in Japan, in almost perfect condition. Everything original down to the last screw, no dings to write home about. Serial number tracks down to June 1988, making this one of the very first pieces produced. This basses usually have flame maple two-piece top but this one has an incredible quilted maple, making it even more unique. Neck is straight as an arrow, as you would expect from the 5 pieces maple and mahogany neck-through construction, capped with the black ebony fingerboard. Trussrod works perfectly in both directions. Pickups, piezo and preamp all original and in perfect working order. No case. Bass will be professionally packed and shipped with air courier. Insurance will be provided. Price is 2200 GBP/2600 Euros, which include shipping to UK or UE countries and insurance. Now the eyes candy…

  23. it needs a bit of care, 120Hz should be fine, but if you go higher and start to get low male vocal in the subs things can start to sound a bit strange.

  24. 2019 Yamaha BB-734a in dark coffee sunburst in great condition, all fully set up with 105-45 rounds on so good to go and oiled fretboard. Comes in a Thomann non-original but surprisingly very good hard case. A fantastic playing and capable bass, but I played it more as passive.... I have a 2024X to do that though. Happy to post at buyers cost with a courier of their choosing if need be.

  25. Lol we use Accu quite a bit ... they are a really good solution for difficult to find things - like tiny M1.6 Allen headed cap machine screws ... we use these to replace drilled out rivets in some old Hofner pickups when we rewind them ... as we invariably have to! Handy on some old DeArmond stuff too.

  27. Last night was a spin off from the originals band. We're doing Postmodern Jukebox style stuff. Just upright bass, guitar, drums and vox, so we're arranging things differently as we haven't got the orchestration. It's good fun and was sounding great. Certain songs I need to be warmed up for, as walking bass lines on the upright can take their toll 😆

  30. I think you'll love the Three10 Paul. The Elf is noticeably better through multiple speakers at 4ohms. I've not yet had to use it on a bigger gig, but I do have confidence that it would get me through a gig, any gig in fact. I have used it as the main amp in small rooms with a jazz band and a funk band, and in the huge cavernous space in Lancaster Priory. On the Priory gig it was DI'd, and the engineer was very happy with the DI it provided. Rob

  31. I use TI flats in a Foo Fighters tribute, absolutely works wonderfully. Flats can 100% rock hard with nice lows and the mids really cut with the TI's. I use Daddario Half Rounds on my Rippers with a Nirvana Tribute too.

  34. A badly cut nut is the obvious culprit. How much of a gap is there between the bottom of the string and the top of the first fret? Are the other strings the same height off the first fret and showing the same problem? Have you tried a different string?

  35. So the evil day of cutting the 'access' hatch came. I'd racked my brains to find a mechanised way to do it ... but there was simply no way. This was going to be protracted and painful. I made up a saw doohickey using a chopped off coping saw blade ... with a screw holding it into a little handle and waded in. I used a school compass to mark out a circle, a tiny drill to slot a starting hole and found to my surprise that the C panel was only about 1/8th of an inch thick. This meant that I could only cut on the back stroke ... ie the wrong way ... and it took a very very very very very very long time ... and absolutely crippled my wrist! Mr Blobby had clearly been about with the glue inside! And done And a new sound post will need to be made ... the original wasn't even a gentle push fit ... it took a bit of 1/4 inch scrap wood to get it to wedge into place. Something has shrunk methinks! Well it comes to us all with age I suppose. I shall make up a reenforcing flange to glue around the access hatch (probably three or four laminations of thin ply) and due to the really thin nature of the C panel I will have to make some bracing ribs for the hatch cover - as well as a decorative knob (ooer Missus) to be screwed onto it to facilitate easy removal against the pull of the ring of neodymium magnets I intend to set into the flange and hatch cover to keep it in place and stop rattles.

  36. An update as I started this . After about two months I put my La bella deep talking flats back on my P bass, and then even started to think about selling it. But having trawled through various comparison videos on the Tube, I thought i would try a set of La bella low tension flats. Have to say guys wow wow wow, love these, amazing tone really unbelievable tone, I had not expected such a variation in tone across the sets. totally sold on these now. It is always bit of an expensive decision to go and spend money on trying various Flats. These were not too bad at £42 but some are silly money. Anyway just in case any of you were wondering about these. well worth it. Back in love with the ole CS now.

  37. Latest incarnation of my board, transplanted onto a Pedaltrain Metro 20 kindly supplied by our own @spacecowboy. This will probably be the last incarnation of the doubling board (for electric, acoustic, EUB, and double bass). If I acquire any more pedals I’ll probably split between an electric board, and a second board for the acoustic, EUB, and double bass gigs.

  38. Hello! Here’s my pedalboard. I play in a lot of festivals with multiple bands per stage and normally, musicians have to be ready to play in zero time. Since I was always struggling with monitoring, I made a box that goes under the pedalboard that feeds my in ear monitoring system (X Vive PX System) and for the DI out. Works great and I just have to unplug 4 cables and I’m fliyng out of the stage. In the next weeks will be added an Arkham Oracle Bass Preamp

  39. Price drop to £1300 Took me years to get hold of one of these and I never thought I’d let it go, but unfortunately we need a new boiler so here goes! Despite the boiler situation, I will entertain trades involving a Precision of equivalent (or lower) value, or a full size StingRay Special. Could also be tempted by an offer involving a JMJ/Vintera II Mustang. The bass is in excellent condition, with a couple of minor blemishes (too small to photograph) and only one real imperfection in the form of a cracked neck plate. Weight is around 3.5kg. La Bella 760FS strings fitted currently, they’re lightly played in but still pretty fresh. Original hard case and tools (allen keys, truss rod adjustment) included. Collection from Haywards Heath, West Sussex preferred, but I would be happy to deliver or meet within a reasonable distance. Any questions, requests for additional photos etc, just let me know!

  45. Greg Bennet by Samick Royale 3. MM Seymour Duncan Designed Humbucker plus a Seymour Duncan Designed preamp. Volume, Blend,Treble and Bass. It has an Gotoh battery box installed replacing the screw on cover. Also has upgraded Wilkinson machine heads. I guess it’s under 9lb as it doesn’t feel a heavy bass. 40mm at the nut. Nice bass that sounds and plays much better than its price tag suggests. I ended up using it as a first for a while as it excels with vintage chorus type effects. Selling as I’ve acquired far too many Precisions and I still have GAS for Fender shaped things 😞 No case with this. Collection preferred from BB22SH. If the buyer wants it posting at their cost and risk, then I’d have to source suitable packaging. It will be securely packaged.

  46. Yes - That's I think you're probably right. In reality, it isn't the alleged major change of musical direction that I (maybe/probably) wouldn't have been interested in that angered me, it's the sly and underhand way that I was replaced and ousted that grated my gears. For me, that's not an acceptable way of behaving in any walk of life. I've moved on, and I'm already talking to another band about possibly joining them.

  49. Oh yes - and remember the golden rule "Always tune UP to pitch" If you are sharp, detune past the note and then adjust back up. This ensures that any backlash in the tuners is eliminated and also ensures that the tension of the coils on the post is at a consistent level.
