Mrnace Posted 14 hours ago Posted 14 hours ago If there was 1 album you'd buy/listen too just for the bass, which one would it be? 1 Quote
ezbass Posted 14 hours ago Posted 14 hours ago Just one? Ooh, tough choice. Avoiding solo albums by bass players, probably Paul Simon’s Graceland.* *I will no doubt change my mind as soon as I hit submit reply. Quote
SteveXFR Posted 14 hours ago Posted 14 hours ago And out come the wolves by Rancid Matt Freemans bass is what takes the songs from good to amazing. Quote
upside downer Posted 13 hours ago Posted 13 hours ago Metal Box by PiL. Simple yet inventive playing from Jah Wobble (and, on one track, Keith Levene) 3 Quote
lowdown Posted 13 hours ago Posted 13 hours ago One More Once - Michel Camilo (Anthony Jackson). Quote

I've been thinking a lot about this very thing today actually. I want to buy a new record so I have to choose wisely given the expense, so a vinyl version of an old fave is what will get me to put my hand in my pocket. After much deliberation ladies and gentlemen, please put your hands together for our winner... RUSH - Exit Stage Left (The crowd goes wild, ripping out all the seats. Everyone goes home naked.) 1 Quote
Lozz196 Posted 13 hours ago Posted 13 hours ago Snap!, a compilation album by The Jam, featuring many of Bruce Foxtons great bass-lines. 3 Quote
Reggaebass Posted 13 hours ago Posted 13 hours ago Great question and not an easy one, there’s so many but 2 that spring to mind are, Guess Who's Coming to Dinner-Black Uhuru, Robbie Shakespeare at his best I’d say, And rather than pick one particular album I’ll say Legend , which is a compilation album by Bob Marley and the Wailers, every bassline by Aston Barrett was just perfect 2 Quote
tauzero Posted 12 hours ago Posted 12 hours ago One featuring the fretless work of either John Giblin or Pino Palladino. I'll go with Fish's Vigil in a wilderness of mirrors with John Giblin, although I'd also be tempted by a Paul Young album. 1 Quote

I've only just bought the cd which is always on in the car, but it's next in the vinyl queue. It's not just good, it's had a real affect on me. Right album, right time... 2 Quote

Cato Posted 11 hours ago Posted 11 hours ago Not my favourite band or album but Jamiroquai's Emergency on Planet Earth' has consistently sublime basslines from start to finish, most of them up front and centre in the mix. 1 Quote
Jackroadkill Posted 11 hours ago Posted 11 hours ago Probably The Clash's London Calling. The bass sound of Guns Of Brixton is worth the price of entry alone. 2 Quote
RAY AGAINST THE MACHINE Posted 11 hours ago Posted 11 hours ago Metallica and justice for all ! Well not really … I’m still contemplating ! Then I’ll probably change my mind a few times 3 Quote
Coilte Posted 11 hours ago Posted 11 hours ago "CHICAGO'S" first album "Chicago Transit Authority" with the very underrated Peter Cetera on bass. 1 Quote
malbass Posted 11 hours ago Posted 11 hours ago What’s Going On - Marvin Gaye Peak Jameson for me, what a record! 1 Quote
Grooverjr Posted 11 hours ago Posted 11 hours ago Mysterious Traveller by Weather Report. Obviously Jaco was a genius but I prefer everything about the way Alphonso Johnson played and his work on this album is sublime. Quote
