How do we feel about me approaching someone I know to do a talk on pickups? He is very very good with an audience and does it for a living. I reckon if we got the numbers up to 40+ I could convince him. 

 

It's just a matter of whether we're actually interested. If we videoed it, and put it on The You Tube, as Uncle Bryn calls it, it could be worth while for him.

It sounds like a worthy cause, and the money is not an issue , but I can't really say right now whether I’ll be available.

I prefer to react to stuff when it comes through, so making a date , 4 months hence, would not be right for me.

I was going to @Happy Jack, but as you can tell from the description these are very specialist speaker cables.

 

 

200m of cable, 4 square feet in section with gilded banana headsweet HDMI and USB connectors and weighing only 50g would be quite something!

I got exactly the same response from my electronics guru friend when I suggested he comes along with some of his home-made valve amps. Mind you I doubt he'd want to do a talk, but it is fun looking inside these things with someone who has an oscilloscope and knows what all the parts do!

That would be potentially very interesting. Pickups are one of those areas that are going to be an awful lot more complex than at first sight... "yeah well it's just a magnet with some wire innit?", I doubt that somehow

Finding people who do stuff for free is tricky, especially if they have to travel any distance...

 

Lee Voss from Andertons came a few years back but he's now mainly on their video side. I can invite him as I know him...

I might be able to find some BC funds to pay for such an attendance if we are able to agree on someone that fits, who wants to come anyway and doesn't need convincing with cash (which is how I ended up being a chippendale)
