meterman Posted September 30, 2023 Posted September 30, 2023 If I still lived in the UK and there was enough acts I wanted to see at Glastonbury, Iād pay the daft price and go and get stuck in. Itās not my fave festivalĀ in the UK but thereās nothing quite like it.Ā Ā I can look past all the posh gap year kids and the packs of acid house milfs on the razz, easy, and just crack on cause thereās always interesting stuff going on somewhere there.Ā Ā (Btw, I have nothing against acid house milfs at all, theyāre great. Just not when thereās 50 of them on a hen do completely plastered, waving glowsticks, and covered in glitter. Then Iāll run in the opposite direction because they scare the bejeezus out of me in large numbers š ) 2 Quote
steantval Posted September 30, 2023 Posted September 30, 2023 (edited) £360 for a ticket to see bands or artists that have not been announced as yet 𤪠Edited September 30, 2023 by steantval Quote
Nothingman Posted September 30, 2023 Posted September 30, 2023 Never been. Think Iāve missed the boat now with the way things are.Ā Ā However, if I was going the line up would be secondary to the pure magic of it all. Ā Maybe my kids will take me in a couple of years. Ā Quote
Dad3353 Posted September 30, 2023 Posted September 30, 2023 I will admit to having gone to the very first Glastonbury Festival, but saw/heard little of what went on, being somewhat otherwise occupied with my partner at the time, building and enjoying a hay-bale lodging by the Tor for the duration. Not much sleep was had. Happy daze; where is she now..?Ā 5 Quote

mep Posted June 28, 2024 Posted June 28, 2024 (edited) Well Glastonbury 24 has started. Currently enjoying Paul Heaton, with Norman Cook guesting on bass for Happy Hour. Edited June 28, 2024 by mep 1 Quote
NancyJohnson Posted June 28, 2024 Posted June 28, 2024 I haven't a clue who is playing (and deep in my heart, I really don't care), but decided to have a look at the bill. Ā Christ on a bike.Ā There appears to be hundreds, nay thousands, of artists playing.Ā How on earth does one sort the wheat from the chaff?Ā How does everyone get paid?Ā I recognised maybe ten bands and gave up scrolling. Ā My idea of Hell to be honest. 6 Quote

I just cannot be ar$ed doing battle to get a halfway decent view and then giving it up to go for a two mile trek for a p!$$. 1 Quote
Woodinblack Posted June 28, 2024 Posted June 28, 2024 Another 80s visitor when it was around £20 and before the music was really that much of a thing. I wouldn't really want to go back to it now, but I am sure those people visiting this week will have a great time and it will be their festival to look back on. And at least it cooled down from tuesday! I shall just grump about local traffic. Quote
meterman Posted June 28, 2024 Posted June 28, 2024 I never used to go to the bigger Ā festivals as a punter, they cost a fortune, the crowds are full of k-nobs who arenāt really there for the music and are either on the lash or coked up on cheap gack, and if the weather takes a turn it can be pretty chaotic. Plus youāre always miles away from the artists you want to see. I only went to a couple of festivals as a teenager and quickly decided they werenāt for me. Also I hate, and by that I mean truly despise, camping.Ā Ā Playing them is different though, you can drive in, get your passes, have a swifty, do your set, and get back in the van or bus and get straight back out again.Ā Ā Full marks to anyone who can pony up Ā£300+ for a weekend and enjoy the chaos though. I bow down! š I hope anyone whoās attending Glasto is having an excellent time of it š 3 Quote
