  2. If you want to get the most transparent sound you can from your Laney plug your pedalboard output into the FX return socket on the back of the amp. Technically the inbuilt FX loop is for line level signals which are louder than instrument level signals, but as long as you can get a healthy volume level from your pedal board you'll be doing ok. By doing this you bypass the preamp section of the amp where, theoretically, most of the tone colour resides.
  3. Interesting points both, but I agree with EJWW's Music Man point. Personally, I like consistency. I want the same sound every time I plug in. Yes, I often turn the tone control down by 50% when I solo the bridge pickup of my Jazzes or American Performer Mustang, but you can tell where you are in that case, by the angle the white line is pointing on the control.
  4. Absolutely each to their own, yes. Just to be clear though I was not setting any conditions on bass ownership. If someone has an expensive / rare / irreplaceable bass that they don't want to take out, it is a decision entirely for them. I'm just thinking if I don't play something (home or live), I personally can't justify keeping it - I don't have the spare cash. And sadly, my holidays aren't even fancy! 😸
  5. That Certain Smile - Midge Ure
  6. I faffed about with various tips on things like the SE215s and the like for a good while, but then went for it with proper custom molds, and to be honest it's night and day as far as fit and attenuation are concerned...plus you don't have to ram anything in your ear, they just fit...I use ACS, and they start at £249 (includes the ear molding), which isn't daft money (although you can easily go to daft money if you want/can afford).
  7. I can't take any credit for that - I'm standing on the shoulders of the giants who also post in this forum! I can't remember who suggested it or I'd credit them.
  8. Looking forward to the ton of gear head comments 😄 No, I actually am.

  16. Download, then edit to add the suffix '.mp4' to get it to play...
  17. It took me quite a while to appreciate Haslip. That changed after transcribing some of the Gino Vannelli tracks. I should finish my Yellowjackets transcriptions...🙄 Thank you for the transcription(s)!

  19. I have been asked how much does this weigh - I thought it was quite light and according to my (never cost me anything in penalty fees on Ryan air) luggage scale it weighs in at 4.22 Kg
  20. Nice, GLWTS!
  21. Pedal bought from Ashdown as I love their signature range - and It's Guy Pratt - who doesn't like guy Pratt ?? But apart from testing it it has sat unused in it's box. So lets find it a great home. Comes with all the "case candy" including the unused rubber feet. Note that it requires a good quality 18v power supply.

  23. Hello all, This was just sitting around at home, so it's time to move it on! Boxed, complete with instructions and all hardware, in very good condition. Looking for a firm £75, including mainland UK postage. No offers or trades please. Please message me if interested, and thanks for looking! Etienne
  24. I guess this sort of view is what inspired @Al Krow’s question. I guess there is more chance of damage on a gig, but I tend to play anywhere between 30-90 mins a day at home, so not far off a common gig duration. My preference is to own mint or excellent condition instruments.
  25. I'd agree with the above, there must be an issue with the unit. Complete aside, but how similar does the Mighty Plug in Aguilar mode sound to the MLD preamp in the same setting? I have the Mighty Plug, love it and particularly their version of the Aguilar Sim, but I was thinking about picking up the MLD too. If it sounds similar I think that will tip it!
