  1. Past hour
  2. I think we need pictures really…, 🍿 #kleenex we really should fully understand the pointiness quotient ….
  3. Didn’t know they used Grovers ever. If it is an old one it seems to be in pristine Nick.
  4. I tried this today with my C4 and MXR - sure enough I heard it on the C4 and my tuner picked it out too. I couldn't hear it on the MXR though there may have been a really tiny drop in pitch according to the tuner. That might just be an artifact of the tuner not really being able to pick out the main note - I guess it's designed for a simple bass note, not synth tones with modulation on them. I must say though I hadn't heard that on the C4 but I'm mostly using it at gigs and rarely hold notes long enough for them to decay that much. That led me to mess around with the note hold function on the MXR - that is a very fun way to keep a note going, probably not something I'll need, but definitely something I'll play with. I had fun comparing the IMA sledgehammer setting on the MXR to my "setting" of just using my octave and chorus - I prefer that to the MXR. And my "go to" synth sound of octave/fuzz/chorus still holds up favourably to some of the MXR sounds, though clearly isn't as versatile.
  5. Brill, powerful amp head. Lives up to the GK hype! This was my spare and only used a medium amount. Never toured with it, only used for local gigs. Comes with power & speakon cables, and a roland travel case (pictured). Local pickup preferred, happy to ship at buyers expense.
  6. He used to have a sunburst p years back. From memory the famous(ish) picture with the green and blue striped top he has one.... I only remember as I used to be in an oasis tribute and spent ages trying to find that top!
  7. I've watched a few clips on YouTube. I watched the Tool set. The sound wasn't great, at times the vocals were a bit buried. But then it's a support slot. Otherwise, a good set. I could listen to Danny Carey drum all day. I watched various clips of Sabbath, and it sounded great. Ozzy, considering his health issues sounded fine. Iommi, Butler and Ward... power house. I'd also been watching Geezer Butler talking about his rig for the show. What a decent guy he is. I've never listened to Black Sabbath much, but I would have rather gone to their farewell than the other event on that night. They created a genre, they innovated and this was their farewell.
  8. See, I'm sick of that crap and there's nothing "modern" about it. It's almost as if virtuoso or groundbreaking bass players have never existed. We've retreated (or been relegated) to a role that the bass should have escaped by the 60s. Oasis isn't a bass player band anyway, but Andy Bell is probably the best guitarist in that band and he's not even playing guitar. Can't have Noel feel inferior can we?
  9. Having used the CQ18t at rehearsals and now 1 gig, I'm impressed. Still a big learning curve to get the best out of it, but even at "idiot" level it's a step up from my analogue mixer. I bought the CQ18t rather than the cheaper CQ20 as I wanted the reassurance of a hardwired screen and controls over relying on an network connection. During an extensive test yesterday, predominantly to check base line settings for the whole PA and to set up some basic EQ for FOH and the bass, the remote iPad controller, glitched and would not connect to the PA. So, without the inbuilt UI, mid gig Id have been completely screwed. Looks like I went for the right option!!!
  10. QSC CP12 Active PA Speaker 1000 Watts This speaker is as new and has not been used since purchase. It comes with additional QSC waterproof cover for outdoor use. Very powerful speakers however I’m downsizing and selling my larger portable PA gear. Street price is £579 cheapest I can find so this is a good saving. The covers cost an extra £67. The user manual is included. I have two of these for sale. I can knock off £40 if you buy the pair. Pickup definitely preferred but talk to me if this is impossible. UK only. Postage would be at buyer’s cost and I’d need to source packaging as the boxes have been recycled. These speakers get glowing reviews in Sound on Sound magazine - https://www.soundonsound.com/reviews/qsc-cp-series I own a pair of QSC CP8s which are perfectly fine for keyboard monitoring and rehearsal PA so these aren’t needed now for personal use. Specifications from QSC below - Features Class-D amplifier with 1000W peak power output Selectable contours (presets) for quick setup Advanced DSP with Intrinsic Correction™ Superior sound quality and speaker protection Directivity Matched Transition™ (DMT) ensures uniform coverage across the entire sound field Suitable for use as a main PA, stage monitor or instrument amplifier 35mm pole mount socket Lightweight and incredibly portable Specifications Configuration: Two-Way Active Low Frequency Driver: 12'' Cone Woofer High Frequency Driver: 1.4'' Compression Frequency Response: 49Hz - 20kHz, -6dB 47Hz - 20kHz, -10dB Sound Pressure Level: 126dB (Maximum) Nominal Coverage: 75° Axisymetric Amplifier Type: Class-D Amplifier Power: 1000W (Peak) Input Connectors: 2 x XLR/TRS Combo (Line and Mic/Line) 1 x 3.5mm TRS Stereo Output Connector: 1 x XLR (Mix) Controls: Power 2 x Gain Mic Boost Push Switch 6-Way Contour Selection Switch Indicators: Power LED 2 x Input Signal LEDs Input B MIC Selected LED Limiter Active LED Power Supply: 100V - 240V, 50Hz/60Hz Enclosure Material: Polypropylene Grille: 18 Gauge Powder Coated Steel Dimensions: 516mm x 350mm x 323mm / 20.3'' x 13.8'' x 12.7'' (H x W x D) Weight: 13.7kg / 30.3lbs
  11. so he could have been saying "Where's my fcuking cake" 😂
  12. And didn't those people look miserable. So many of them that during the day you couldn't tell who was in the band, who was stage crew and who was a VIP. Bad stage management in my opinion. Audience should see no one except the performers. Oh, and who let that one stage hand wear white socks and white trainers. 😆
  13. Superb amps! This is a crazy bargain 😱😎
  14. I must admit that going a range one 200 watt amp and one 1200 watt amp suggest a hole in the range at 500–600 watts.
  15. Quite a change from a high end bass to a simple J.
  16. @neepheid's Les Paul is indeed a great bass. I'll second going for the pointiest one you have! What's the overall collection like?
  17. Would a Tele Headstock fit the space, like on a Harley Benton? Mike Dirnt on Page 6 bass heads.pdf
  18. Dan, if you do an eBay search for "Kay bass" and then check (under 'Advanced') Completed Items, you can see how much every Kay bass sold on eBay recently went for. It will quickly be apparent that the only ones that break through £200 are the ones that qualify as Rickenfakers. Most commonly, Kay Jazz basses and similar stick at around the £150 mark.
  19. seems to be the modern way, bass is there to add bottom end, nobody knows what a bass does until it's not there
  20. PM'd!
  21. Oh, god, have I got to stay awake that long!
  22. Why not? There’ve been plenty of replacement Searchers!😂
  23. I like tubes. When I went to Engineer School they were current technology. If I had a choice I would still be using full tube amps. BUT age crept up on me and my tube amps just got to be unmanageable. Something had ti give. The route I followed was a 2KW capable class D Stereo power amp to drive my Acme Sound B2 2x10 three way cabinets. I usually use two in a vertical skinny stack at 4Ω per channel. If I want more I can run all four for 2Ω per channel. I designed and built a two channel tube pre-amp to drive the power amp and the whole system sounds very good.
  24. Today
  25. I have had rheumatoid arthritis for getting on 30 years now. It has been under control with drugs for many years now though I have had a number of joint replacements in that time most around 20+ years ago - left shoulder, right wrist and index and pinkie knuckles. Have started to get twinges in my left wrist and down the outside of my left hand recently and I ache after some gigs but it’s not too bad at the moment. Funnily enough my memory is that I have a pick pretty much exclusively until recently, though have found videos from years back that suggest that’s not actually the case, but have started to use fingers more and that seems to keep things moving at the moment.
  26. I’m going to be in Bath 12th July, Bristol 13th July and London 18th & 19th July and I can bring this with me if anyone interested in trying before purchase.
