The Bart mk1 humbucker shape pickups are in fact reverse P design and very good they are too...apparently little is gained by upgrading to the usa bart pickups....Corts are good basses! I would try and get the A5.

It's my son's 18th today - I'd love to be able to buy this for him... not that he plays bass! But I'd make sure it was well looked after and played regularly on his behalf. GLWTS - someone is getting a great instrument 👍 -

I stuck a pedal pcb clone of a broughton HPF/LpF at the start of chain and it had a really nice effect. also tried the Euna clone which was an ok buffer too so i mashed them together… with variable input impedance, the bass switch from Euna and the ability to switch the HPF in and out … it works not sure if it’s an improvement as I’ve rearranged the pedalboard since and it has way less effect also doesn’t fit in the spare gorva m45 I have … made the board a couple mm too wide

I think it’s a nitro with checking rather than a forced ‘ RW template’ so it’ll get beat up quickly if treated a little rough but has that classic ‘aged nitro lacquer’ look without the beatings. I think Fender has a closet classic finish yrs ago which had that gentle treatment/finish. -

Don’t laugh… that’s exactly how luthier Rob Armstrong came to design his “Baby Guitars”… he mucked up a case order and decided to build something to fit the mandolin cases that arrived.

Now I'm confused. Is this operation out of Poland the temporary one to supply their luthier / business customers while they're looking for a new suppliuer, or is there genuinely a new Polish operation that's here to stay? It sounds like they're currently only supplying to guitar manufacturers, but will restart sales to private customers again in October.

I don't think the original Portaflex was that nice: heavy and underpowered. My bass teacher had one, but was always driving it very hot, and then the fuse blew. Once he used a bigger fuse and the x-former melt. Decent sound, but not for gigging. I would see studio use as the only feasible option.

My local rehearsal spot has some kind of TC amp in there. I hate it. It's underpowered and it either goes "booooom" with indistinct bass or it disappears. I wouldn't buy one, but I am aware there is brand heritage that is sadly not being lived up to.

Bought in the hope i could get away with 30 all valve watts but unfortunately not. Brand new JJ EL84’s fitted and comes with a spare set of EH valves. Really nice amp and tone to die for - if i could have this tone with more power id be in heaven! Collection from Bolton or could do a meet up. Could cut a deal if you want the ABM 4x10 ive also advertised on here. Would consider part ex for a Cali 76 Bass compact-

Not sure what you mean. If you mean "how come the mixed feelings" its because there seems to be a modern trend to ruin otherwise awesome Mustangs with a J pickup. If you mean "how come you don't like PJ" its just because it never works for me. The J is too weedy/too noisy/too unnecessary/just doesn't balance. I am a huge fan of Jazz basses - its P, or JJ, or go home IMO!

I have never really used reverb on bass before. I have played with the TC Infinite as a practicing tool and thats where I first tried it. So I think reverb can sound great but it has its place and like you said above it has to be subtle, less is more type of thing. I think it sounds great and I am planning to use it with fretless and one of the bands I play in is a country band and in the more slow and more accustinc songs I was hoping to add subtle reverb. As in the sound I dont have much to compare to (I have Wampler Ethereal for guitar mostly but I did try it on bass just to see if I would want to explore it further) and I think its great. I like it that I can mix the signals and then the size of the reverb. I do find the bass and treble subtle but I need to explore it more. But it really does add that something in quieter songs. Now the extra features, I really like the 'Size' and I can see myself exploring that. Build up sound scapes etc. The one I can see myself using is having the 'Exp' knob at 12 o'clock which allows you to play a note and it slowly trails off as you build up other sounds as you add if that makes sense. Fully clockwise its infinite which can sound really interesting such as ending songs etc. I am still trying to figure 'In Lvl' out and I have emailed Taylor about it. I thought it was like the TC Infinite, you could play a note/chord and that would sound infinite and you could then play over it but its not the case or at least I am not able to recreate it. But for the sound and the 'Size' function its a keeper for me.

I didn't go on Friday but I've seen them a couple of times before - once at Band on the Wall as just a two piece, and then before that at Brudenell in Leeds with a couple of extra musicians (one of which was Sam Wilkes on bass). I enjoyed it both times - Louis Cole is an absolute phenomenon.
