Whilst driving home this afternoon I saw a fiat 500 that reminded me of a short scale stingray. Small, light coloured, nippy around town I guess (not having driven either).Ā

It got me thinking about what car would represent your bass? Is a P bass a lean sports car or a utilitarian people carrier? Is a jazz an SUV or a saloon?Ā

Bearing in mind I know very little about cars (and not much more about basses), what bass are you driving?Ā

There's only one for my 1951 P-bass, (even if it's a Jap RI) šŸ˜Ž

1951 Chevy pick up truck, yellow of course šŸ‘

Hofner Verithin bass, so an Armstrong Siddeley Star Sapphire (My Dad had one just like this for quite a while...)...

Many many moons ago, my dear old Gran re-married a geyzer from Norfolk, he had one of them too! Always knew him as Lord Bacon-Phillips, but no idea if that was anywhere near right 🤣 but can remember travelling in style in it some times.

Also - later in my younger days, we rented our garage to a lovely old chap around the corner, he also had a Armstrong Sidley, which he kept in the garage, occasionaly taking me for a ride, remember washing it with him.I must have been about 10 or 11, he taught me to play Chess 'properly' too!

Not particularly glamorous but the Ford Fiesta is by far Britain's most common car.

Got to be a shooĀ in for the Precision.

Alpine is as french as my Vigier Passion. Another option could be a Renault 5 Turbo. Small, special, and light.

Modulus Genesis could be Vette: both have fiber construction.

Affirma is different, so is boxer Subaru and Wankel Mazda (RX-family).

Hand built super light fretless... be it a Super Seven.

Every bitsa is like any DIY glass fibre replica. But not a Ford Fiasco, no?

Clevinger... a ten wheel Peterbilt without a trailer, maybe?

Given that all of mine are Bitsa basses mine would have to be a kit-car of some kind, nothing flashy mind, all ā€˜utility vehicle’ sort of thing.

Mine is a classic Mini, as its a short scale. Compact, nothing that is not essential, but nimble and beautifully balanced.

Yes, other modes of transport definitely welcome!

Maybe I should start a parallel thread: what car is your bass playing style. I'm still on the training wheels/tricycle stage I think..Ā

I don’t know one car from another... if someone asks me about a car I’ll just say ā€œ it’s a red oneā€.

So what kind of car is my bass? It’s a purple one.

More of the latter, not so much of the former, I’m a pragmatist.

Seeing as my current favourite is an Indonesian built Spector then I will offer this upimage.png.faabb037231fe1a0aea75999ea1dd120.png

Ric's are known as being the Harley's of the bass world.

Surely the Precision is a trusty Volvo with an old faithfulĀ Labrador in the back

Ha! I always think a P is like a Volvo estate too, trusty and like a bit of a boat but always gets the job done.
