1. I think I've seen cream concentric ones on some Danelectro basses. It might have been a dream though!
2. Might be worth dropping the speaker right out ans checking that the voice coil wires or internal speaker wire aren't just rubbing on the cone. You can get speakers re-centred or completely re-coned, but it would probably approach the cost of a replacement anyway. Worth knowing that it is an option for older or unavailable speakers.
3. I'd go for stainless steel ones too, if you can readily find them. I've got a bag of them, but metric m3 ones.
4. It's a really simple circuit. Any decent electronics bod should be able to fix this, as long as it isn't the old epoxy potted one.
5. Take the grille off and gently press the cone in. A rub is fairly apparent. Make sure you press it in evenly, and don't go mental with the pushing.
6. Was that the place that had one of the Plek systems for fretwork?
7. It's such a shame they are playing at Cheltenham town hall again, the sound in there is terrible for loud amplified music. Last year it took most of the gig to get the sound half decent. I'd rather see them in the big tent thing, but I suppose they can't cram as many people in it
8. There was a mention of the preamp in the Aria website needs a new host thread, or something like that. Post #21 for some reason m browser at work won't let me post a link http://basschat.co.uk/topic/285087-new-caretaker-wanted-for-aria-sb-website-fan-pages/page__p__3126552#entry3126552 Oh, wait a minute ^ there it is!
9. Sounds to me like it may be the ground connection on the input to the interface has gone missing. This could be a fault on the input socket itself, or on the guitar, but I imagine you tried another guitar, and got the same result?
10. 2 Humbuckers out of an early US Masters EP42 bass. Size 3 1/2" L , 1 1/2" W, 1/2" D The cases have many age related cracks, as do all the ones like this I've seen, but the hold together ok. They are low-profile, with alnico magnets, wax potted. 2 conductors plus ground wire. Both measure 5 k ohm, so not hot output, but might make for a good balance as a woofer in the neck position. 11. I've heard similar about a Cort Curbow with a synthetic fingerboard. It belonged to a luthier's wife, and he said it made an excellent hygrometer. I'd suggest a new, wooden fingerboard would be a good fix.
12. Always had a lot of time for 7, and 12/8 bowls along nicely. I love the slow 5/4 figure on bass near the start of Keith Jarrett's Survivor's Suite.
13. Climax Blues Band?
14.
I'd be lying if i said i didnt take some influence from bright size life.
That's one reason I liked it, right up my street!
15. Voted. I really like Asambique's one this month. The ambience brings to mind early ECM recordings by Ralph Towner and Pat Metheny.
16. Excellent comms throughout. Wasn't the biggest transaction (a couple of cables), but all was perfect. Wouldn't hesitate dealing with Paul again. cheers MBA
17. No love for the theme for Bergerac yet?
18. I'll take 2 of the 10m jack-jack leads please
19. Wouldn't it be easy to file deeper notches in the saddles to stop that happening?
20. If they did a torzal twist with fanned frets, that would really mess with your noggin!
21. You could use an active circuit to balance the relative volume of the pickups out. Woofer problem solved.
22. I see. I'm fairly new to this mullarkey. I'm glad it exists, as this is the first time I've really composed stuff, or written any kind of lyrics, and it's giving me something to help my drumming get tighter (a relative term, I should note!), and being time-bound, it makes me get stuck in. I'm finding it a nice diversion while my band isn't up to a whole lot.
23. For me, it's the singer/guitarist and the drummer. We're a 3 piece
24. Voting's slow this time round. If this was a P vs J bass poll... just imagine!
25. I found the panning distracting too
