1. You could ping back "what's your highest price?"
2. They seem to be enjoying themselves. The playing is quite tasteful, some of the camera shots, less so. I often wonder if he ever found a band with like minded individuals...
3.
muse, totally lost track of what they're up to now
They tried to be Queen for a while.
4. "Talking about music is like dancing about architecture". So we might just as well shut up and get on with playing.
5. Isotope. I used to play the faster tracks to psyche myself up for taking my gcse ( o-levels, as was) exams.
6. While we're at it, any ideas on Lennon's guitar? Looks like a modified Jazzmaster with a starcaster neck or something...
7. Thanks for that, super quick. I did wonder if it was some brand new boutique thing with a retro vibe. Almost as cool as its owner...
8. Does anyone know what the bass played by his partner in GOASST is. Can't make out the name on the body, could be Framus? http://ks.c.yimg.jp/res/chie-que-14152/14/152/524/344/i320
9. I don't think the button next to my tune is working edit: seems like it is working. My mum must be online then.
10.
Thought I would join in this month. I took the same approach as 'xgxjs' (above). Calm and dreamy night in Brooklyn. https://soundcloud.com/garrycribb/brooklyn-heights
That's really rather lovely! This is going to be a close competition this month.
11. Ok. I will edit my post.
12. Are people interested in actual instruments used or just the tech/ plug-ins and that stuff?
13. "Yes, some of them are quite pretty" She did set an arbitrary limit of 7 instruments, one for each day of the week, and I'm at 8, so not altogether happy. 5 are guitars, 3 basses, even though I haven't played guitar in a band for 14 years!
14. xgsjx - reminds me a bit of Pat Metheny. I think you succeeded in capturing the vibe.
15. Great!
16. I must have missed the warts! tasty playing all round. Well done!
17.
Technically they don't both emit sound. The area of only one cone is exposed to the air, so the maximum output with two drivers isobaric is the same as with one in a standard configuration. The only advantage is a halving of the Vas, but due to the space taken up by the second driver and the connecting plenum chamber the net cabinet size is not halved, while cost is greatly increased by using two drivers. That's why manufacturers in general have not jumped onto this particular band wagon.
That's not quite what I meant Bill, I meant the rear-facing speaker is also open to the air, just facing backwards, or even upwards or downwards.
18. It would be nice to think that if someone got a good deal on here, then decided they were not going to keep it, that it would be offered up here again for a similar deal, like you would do for your mates. Doesn't always happen.
19. I've listened to a few tracks, and though it isn't quite my bag, it's well arranged and played. Your singer has a distinctive voice, but I'm not too keen on the distorted vocal treatment. There are bits where I think the toms are panned too wide compared to everything else in the mix, and it sounds incongruous in that context, but that's such a minor thing. I really do like the bass drum sound especially on Mundane. Good luck with the release. MBA
20. Seems very quiet round these parts this month. Are all the cool kids hanging out somewhere else these days?
21. Ok, here is mine. You may need to download it to listen to it, sorry*. I'm sure Dropbox used to let you just listen straight from the link. I was going for a busy street feel in the verses with an expansive bridge for the big sky, and gangster/bar band for the bit after the bridge. My second go at playing the drums for public consumption, I tried SO many times but it is still wonky, and I had to cheat the 16s feel using maracas. https://www.dropbox.com/s/pmrmxrdmf8b6ytu/Urban%20Sprawl%20cowbell%20edit.mp3?dl=0 *edit - only seems to be the case with my Kindle Fire Gear Edit- my blue bass with flats, ctm15 into d.I. box on speaker out. Squier Telecaster and GS 12string into same. Recorded on a Zoom MRS 1608. Paiste 2002 and Signature cymbals 60s Rogers wood snare. Maracas. RedV drum mics. Not sexy gear!
22. I may have asked this before, but I don't remember any replies. Could you run an isobaric cabinet with the speakers magnet to magnet, one facing forwards, one facing backwards, both emitting sound? Speakers wired in antiphase to retain isobaric operation. I suppose there wouldn't be any acoustic suspension to control the cone overshoot... Would the sound phase issues be any different to using a rear port?
23. Acme Cabs too. That was a while ago now....
24. Ashdown LB heads
