1. I started trying to do an entry for the Comp Chall, but this: https://soundcloud.c...8525/oct-noodle and some drums is all I've got down so far , so at the moment, it's just a noodle...
2. speaker impedance figures are only nominal, I wouldn't sweat it.
3. There might be a little grub screw, then a nut holding the pot to the body. If not the knobs will be splined and just pull off.
4. Did you take the handle off? May be bolted through to the chassis.
5. Black Sharpie?
6. Embrace the third! It makes some things easier to play, like unison bends and other rock licks and tricks, if that's your thing.
7. Actually in a small pub in the town tonight. The Hawthorns. The right place for slightly psychedelic pop. Free!
8. There are some cool tricks for streaming out small dents with a soldering iron and damp cloth. It can turn a fairly nasty dent into something barely noticeable. Check Youtube for tips and hints.
9. Have you tried cleaning the pots yet, or do you think they are beyond redemption?
10. I opened this thread with some trepidation. Could have been a lot worse!
11. Yes, a rail type strat pickup is often touted as the upgrade for a MusicMaster bass.
12. I'm tempted to give it a go. What is the exact model?. I guess, being Beyer, they are reasonably serviceable.
13. That it is! Why not join in next time?
14. Stick a heavier gauge set of strings on it?
15. Pretty sure the East preamps have a trim pot, but on mine, still doesn't go as low gain as passive (U-Retro).
16. If both channels have stopped working, then I'd suggest either the cable or plug has suffered trauma. It's unlikely both sides would have stopped working simultaneously. Do the Beyers have a removable cable?
17.
Bizarrely, I always thought that Keane were actually quite good (for public school-boys).
Ha! On a forum I used to frequent, Keane, Coldplay and all that ilk, were referred to as "bedwetter core". I'm glad you reminded me of that, such a brilliant description!
18. I think a neo cab is less likely to take damage from a drop as the magnet mass is lower, so the shear forces between the magnet and basket should be less.
19. Last night on a multi band bill, I was admiring one of the other bassists Lakland 5er, and talking about the half rounds it was wearing, and he practically insisted I try it. He was a lovely chap. Ryan, from Smiley and the Underclass.
20.
I had one of these. Marshall lead and bass head. I'm not sure in which world it actually has 100w rating. Nasty transistor fuzz for guitars, and entirely lacking in bottom end for bass. Heavy too.
I've a 30W combo the same sort of vintage as that - too big for a practice amp (2x12!) and too quiet for rehearsing with anything bigger than a descant recorder trio. The only upside is it has 12" Greenbacks which theoretically should be worth a few bob, but no-one seem to want to buy them
21. At the Wheatsheaf, Oxford http://www.smileyandtheunderclass.com/music/ http://www.ukidband.com/ We are supporting these chaps this Friday. UK:ID are a good band, looking forward to seeing more of their set this time. Some of our music is here: https://soundcloud.com/the-new-moon I think we are on at 20.00
22. Maybe starting off playing the violin set it in motion as they don't seem to do left-handed ones.
23. I don't know how you right handed folks play the bass like that( as lefty playing right handed)
24. Was Harley Benton a person, or people, or just a made-up name?
