If anyone is looking for a bass playing role in a melodic, gigging goth/post punk band based in North London, give me a shout. I have had to give up playing in The InSect but would like to help them find my replacement

Thank you everyone! Together we raised £8,560 which, with the non JG donation of £35, amounts to a grand total of £8,595. Most of the funds are already with Andy and the balance will be with him in the next few days.
Here's to Iris 🥰

Last day of fund raiser for Iris ... we got to (upwards revised) target of £8,500 helped by more matched donations from our friend "Anonymous". Over 300 BCers all pulling together ❤️

Another The InSect gig coming up. Friday at the Dublin Castle in Camden. Come along for some goth/post punk and also nerdy bass gear-gazing, if you wanna see a Wilcock Mullarkey in action!

Anyone in Coventry area fancy some fancy some goth/post-punk on Saturday night? My lot, The InSect, are in town!

Olympics closing ceremony music section and the bassists for Air and Phoenix have each played US Mustangs and each had a piece of black tape obscuring the Fender logo???

Pet Shop Boys at Royal Opera House tonight. What a fantastic back catalogue of great pop songs and a tremendous show. And errrr not a bass guitar in sight!

Anyone fancy some goth/post punk action in North London on Saturday night? My lot, The InSect, are playing Aces & Eights (just beyond Camden, by Tufnell Park tube). Onstage 8.30pm

That annoying moment when you buy a Big Muff pedal from GAK and - on delivery - you discover the box (correctly labelled as Bass Big Muff) in fact contains a guitar tremelo pedal. Grrrrr

If learning to read music, you can thank me later

Any fans of A Certain Ratio, post-punk funkster, former Factory label mates of Joy Division? I have two tickets for London gig next Saturday and cannot attend due to injury. Can transfer by email in return for donation (at your discretion) to The Dog's Trust

Saw Lizzo at O2 this evening. Did not expect her to start one song with the opening of Yes' Heart of the Sunrise. See here (not my video) from an earlier gig on the tour

Saw James Taylor at Apollo last night. Still has that voice and what a band - Steve Gadd on drums, Jimmy Johnson on bass and a bunch of other fine players/singers

There's a first. We walked away from a gig without playing a note as the pub thought we had too many amps (we are a 5 piece) and our amps looked "too loud". We hadn't even plugged in or fully set up. When they asked us to lose a band member or play after 10pm when their restaurant was closed, we packed our gear and left. Lord Raglan in Wokingham, for the record. My advice: never accept a gig there

Radio WigWam have played a lot of my band West on Colfax - sorry to hear about the gig. We played a benefit gig with generally a really great crowd, we were half way through and some drunk shouted play a cover, which quick as a flash our singer said we're not doing Wonderwall to a round of applause, and the guy actually was going to say Wonderwall he admitted later at the bar, that's how i know he was drunk, he slurred at me. There should be a Brightside/Wonderwall ban for a few years 🙂

Sorry to hear this. It's such a waste of everyone's time too. You could have taken another (paying) booking. They probably had customers turn up, expecting to see a band etc. I too have done free gigs where I've thought "why do I do this?" and of course others where I ended up really enjoying the gig.
Good on you for naming and shaming the pub. Better luck with the next one @Clarky
