  1. Mullarkeys tend to come as stock with Dunlop 45-105 flats, I believe. Same as Serek shorties. Those were on my old bass and sound incredible but are super spendy https://www.bassdirect.co.uk/product/dunlop-stainless-steel-flatwound-bass-strings/
  2. I spotted the post that the OP is referring to and found the local sale by googling (I was bored, OK!) My take is that this is like finding something undervalued at a car boot sale and subsequently selling for the market price - and it will only sell on BC if the price is right. My real gripe is that in 17 years on BC I have only ever sold at a loss, which says a lot about me!
  3. Final drop to £2,000 collected, UK postage on top (c.£20 at a guess).
  4. Great score. I had sellers regret and was seriously thinking about this if my 78 P bass sold. Alas, not in time. But great for you. You will love it
  5. Have played many genres, from death metal to Americana, blues to goth and even funk/hip hop. Not great in any of them, let's be honest, but solid and reliable enough to be first call for a Grammy-nominated blues rock singer over the past 15 years and to have been regularly gigging in all the coolest small/mid sized London venues (Dublin Castle, Half Moon, 100 Club etc). Had to step away from my goth/post punk band The InSect due to family circumstances at end 2024 and looking to get back into a band - preferably post punk/goth (maybe even a tribute band to Joy Division, Cure, Banshees etc) or loud guitar-based rock/metal. If that band preferred rehearsing on a weekday, rather than weekend, all the better. Better yet if in SW/W London but fine to travel to Camden/Dalston Ideally would be rehearsing once every 1-2 weeks and gigging once a month. Downsides. I am not a spring chicken (I am old enough to have seen Bauhaus supported by The Birthday Party and Bon Scott singing for AC/DC). I am therefore not great with Tiktok trends like flapping my hands and shouting 6-7. Upsides. I am solid, reliable, have good gear, transport and a reasonable amount of time on my hands, as I am semi-retired, plus I look like an ageing rock god (OK the last bit is boll*cks). But I do have hair.

  6. This is now up FS on eBay but I would much rather it stayed in the BC community. Its a beautiful, chock-full-of-mojo, vintage rock monster and - for most people - comes in at a good weight. The work SiBob had done on the neck means it has lovely low action and plays slickly (he said, avoiding mention of a popular dairy product). Would £2100 tempt anyone here?
  7. Reopening this as I have had a bad few days with my neck and I really should replace this beauty with a bass that weighs 8 pounds or preferably less. Also adding a few photos taken today. Happy to entertain very near offers on my price of £2200 inc. delivery. No trades, sorry
  8. The Ink in the Well was also my introduction to DT back in the 80s and I have never heard any other player since get close to that characteristic mix of air, power and string vibration on the board. Very funny and self effacing guy too
  9. Reverb has high fees (can't remember exactly but it's something like 8% or more), which you need to be aware of in setting your price, whereas eBay now charges fees to the buyer. I much prefer eBay and have also had more success with it historically when trying to sell on both platforms simultaneously
  10. Each of the three £182 pedals (OD, comp, DI) can be found in the Transit B pedal (along with EQ and tuner) for considerably less money, especially second-hand
  11. BassDirect hasn't added the weights yet, which I thinkare an important measure for those considering this model. But with the (seemingly) full body size, I doubt they will be much less than 9 pounds
  12. BassDirect has a couple in stock as of today (I think) at £3,299

The speeches. The patient Darren really brings it home why this is so important.

  14. I had both TB10 and DB10. As noted, the only difference was the preamp. I gigged it with an added strap button, bass guitar style, or on its stick, upright style - video of latter here https://wilybo.com/acoustic-band-videos/1982-2/ It was thumpy and great for DB style sounds (I had my most recent, with the cool tube preamp, strung with Rotosound TruBass black nylon strings) but a bit heavy (especially in its tank-proof hard case) and clunky. I sold it in the end as I barely used it in the bands I played in. Were I to go acoustic Americana again, I would consider re-buying
  15. Withdrawing this after playing it at home today. Won't be my main gigging bass (except for short sets, possibly) but its lovely to play at home (and will be great for recording, when that next happens).
  16. Happy to include 24 hour courier delivery (UK only) in the asking price
  17. Sorry just listened back quickly (skipping over tracks), it was In the Cage where I thought the drums were too low. My first listen was using earbuds on a flight... so not the best testing circumstances! I will listen again properly to the whole thing before opening my gob again 😅
  18. I had the chance to listen to most of the first 'LP' (up to Chamber of 32 doors). Very clear sound vs original but the bass seemed pushed up very high in the mix and Phil Collins' drums too low (very obvious on title track). Need to give it another listen, along with the second 'LP'.
  19. Bought a couple of months ago from BC stalwart @Sibob, this is absurdly cool (hope it's OK to pinch your advert pic, Si?). However, despite being much lighter than your average late 70s P at 8.87 pounds, its unfortunately still not light enough for my damaged back and neck (back story: horse riding accident, 18 cracked ribs front and back in 2023). Carrying it to and from a 2 hour rehearsal last week resulted in significant pain over the next 24 hours and this made the decision for me. So its collect from a public space in Barnes SW13 or delivery at cost. Asking what I paid, £2200, which I think was a fair price. More details and pics in Si's advert below. It's in the same condition and comes with a padded Fender gig bag. https://www.basschat.co.uk/topic/514522-1978-precision-olympic-white-maple-lightweight-sold/
  20. Apparently there have been limited production runs of these in the past but this seems like a full roll out. Would like to see what these look like when played before judging as some shortie derivatives work better than others visually IMO. I had a Willcock Mullarkey which looked great whereas I thought a short scale Stingray looked a bit like a toy on me when I played it (TBF, the Dadbod fat stomach didn't help)
  21. Good luck but the seller hasn't visited BassChat since January 2023
  22. Bought a nice Trace Elf amp from Mick and all was good! Top BCer!
