  1. Hi everybody. Here it is! I’ve owned this beauty since March 2021 having bought it from Basschatter Gilly. He got it from nord1 who had the gorgeous refinish and luminlay side dots added. It’s stock ( Made September 2010 HQP 063070 ) apart from that ( Perhaps the chrome knobs with numbers too ) it’s stock and does it’s BB powerful pickups versatile monster tone job tremendously with Vol, Tone , Pickup selector switch. The Tone control pot really has a big and full range of useful tones, unlike some. Nickel-Silver nut , strings through body are Rotosound RB45 105-45. Body refinish was expensive so you’re still getting a good deal and a unique bass that will be much admired and coveted. Capturing the precise Mintiness of the body isnt easy it seems but in the photos below the first one and the last two are the closest to the colour. We only live once and I would be selfish to have and to hold ( and play! ) this for any longer. The main reason for selling is that I got a BB614 with an active passive switch. A pity to lose this stunning finish but I need to thin the herd too, so watch out for other basses for sale soonish. (ESP LTD J-1004 up already as you might have seen. Open to offers.) Some of the photos are from previous owners. The white pearl guard didnt do it for me so I had a black one made by Tiny Tone. I’ll include the white one and a UV light torch I bought to power up the cool Luminlay side dots for your dark stage gigs. Hard case shown ( strap not included ). The pickup bobbins had lost their blackness so I’ve used indelible ink to revitalise them. ( Checked with my guitar tech first ).Lovely dark rosewood board on this. Well balanced and 10lbs 9oz , 4.8kg using my accurate digital scales for clarity. With my strap it feels fine. Good luck , don’t fight over it and let your Yamma mates know it’s up please. 👍 Cheers. Quent

  2. We played an intimate acoustic set, mostly on two mandocellos last night in Old Town, Swindon. We supported Canute's Plastic Army who were both talented and very personable. Lots of peop!e came who had seen us before at Swindon Shuffle last year. I am 5 1/2 months alcohol free now and I think it was a strong contender for my personal favourite show of 2024.

  3. Wow, just wow. I was looking for a Modulus Flea for a specific project, ended up buying a Jazz with graphite neck that was coming close but not quite, and then saw this. I owned one in the mid 2000s and it was a cracker, frankly this is even better. Still getting to grips with it, but there's something magical about the whole Stingray shape and orientation that really does help me do the Flea/RHCP thing 👍 And the board is so dark it could be ebony, on which basis a black pickguard is also going on at the earliest opportunity

  4. On this day in 1976, Siouxsie and The Banshees played their first gig. Steven Severin playing a competition-striped Mustang bass. And yes that's Sid Vicious on drums, as well as MarcoPirroni on guitar.

  5. So I bought another short scale bass, because well look at it -woof yeah, but i'm tall and big and it just feels that tad small for me - and it would've been perfect for my old Americana band, but not for what I'm currently doing, it was a toss up between this and the Triad. My band all said oooh at rehearsal. The bass end you can get out of this is huge - i could feel it vibrating my legs at rehearsal, the drummer was very impressed - great for palm muting due to comfortable bridge, Macca stuff all day. Jamerson too. Not so good if you're a Jaco head (maybe if you had zingy rounds on it), which I'm not. But loads of old school mojo but modern touches - if this was 34 inch then it'd be perfect. Lightweight, with nice glassy neck, very very comfortable to play, zero frets sticking out, balances on a strap great. Noiseless pups, which are responsive with a great blend knob. Brand new La Bella LFTs on it - and the rounds it came with in bag. Comes with deluxe padded Fender bag - which is worth it for the carrying handle alone, very nice - will be getting another of these for next bass. Comes with case candy, inspection list, and all that good stuff. Really well made, well done Reverend - just tad too small for me - when you know, you know - so would like to put the money towards the periwinkle Triad that keeps taunting me. This will easily become their go to bass. Priced to sell. Pick up in Clitheroe or can meet up to an hours drive - or £20 for P&P to UK mainland - will be very well packaged

  6. Okay, so this is the earliest juncture at which I felt I could provide meaningful picture without causing anyone to lose their dinner; It's all still very delicate as well as only having a small amount of feeling in it. I tried fretting a couple of notes just now and it didn't go well - it hurt like hell and I couldn't really feel what I was doing. Now, neither of these came as a surprise, as the skin is still really thin after the whole lot was sloughed off in a oner during a dressing-change a couple of weeks back. It's improving daily, though, which is good. A week ago the finger was about 3mm thicker front to back than it is in the above pictures, and it seems to be getting less swollen every day, although any decent activity with it causes the rate to slow. It's never going to look pretty but it does appear that given plenty of time and some faux-physio it'll come right. I have a gig in December (only with a local Scout group!) so I'd like to be able to play a little at that. Cheers, JRK

  8. Bought for a project that it just wasn't quite right for, now replaced by a rather lovely EBMM USA SUB I won't drivel on, you can see what it is and what it's about. Fender MIJ Geddy Lee body, DiMarzio PUPs, Audere Pre, Badass II, Status Jazz neck. Looks like it means business because it does mean business No pickguard in photos below because I don't do pickguards on Jazzes, but I have the original hanging around to go back on Collection from Whitstable or meet up, ideally at a London mainline station please. I enjoy meeting fellow bassists and have had it 100% with couriers having a 1:4 problem rate over recent months. I won't split, sorry. No trades either I'm afraid. Two pics below, I'll take the neck off and do heel and pocket shots over the weekend

  10. Inspired by @ordep, I decided to build a battery-powered board. Looking forward to testing this tonight at a local community jam session. No idea what genres are likely to be played so I'm hoping this will cover most bases. Cable management to be improved, and I'm hoping to fit some small feet so I can sling the powerbank underneath the scrap plywood board.

  12. You might think, that if there’s adjustments to be made to your bass (and let’s face it, there usually is), or there’s an issue that needs fixing, you need to find someone to do the work for you. That means time, money, trust, and that also means you’re letting someone else understand your instrument. I’d strongly urge you to try doing your own work. It’s incredibly satisfying and fulfilling, and there’s absolutely no better way to understand and bond with your bass. It’s taken lots of hours, mistakes and triumphs, but I pretty much know how all of my basses tick. I know what’s going on ‘under the hood’ so to speak, and I understand the little faults and foibles that each bass has. Almost like learning the personality of your bass, because they all have one. There’s nothing to fear as long as you take your time, watch lots of YouTube videos, and just enjoy the process. Truss rods are a piece of pi$$, changing a pot is also very straightforward, nothing to fear at all. Make servicing your bass part of the experience of playing it. It’s a brilliant feeling to know that you can make your own bass awesome and solve your own problems without having to pay someone else to do it.

  15. Took the Jet P to practice last night and had a solid 3hrs session with the band to see how the bass performed. In short excellent. The bass is still exactly as I received it barring the strap locks I have fitted. Powerful little beastie that really cuts through, the neck is great to move around on. The stock pickup and electrics work fine, I suspect it has ceramic magnets but clearly that's a guess on my part but it does have a pretty high output. The light weight also makes it a doddle for the longer sessions/gigs. I may try out a Steve Harris pickup that I have knocking about with a good quality loom, but in all honesty the standard set up works really well as in there is no sign of the on/off volume and tone knobs you can get with budget components and the pots have a nice quality feeling when you make adjustments. All in all, a cracking P bass.

  16. A nice peaceful open mic night at the Shirley British Legion, as per normal Wednesday. It's possibly the penultimate night there, as Shirley Legion might be shutting up shop due to financial difficulties. Played a couple of my songs, accompanied a couple of people on bass doing a few blues songs. The difference between country music and blues music: Blues songs all sound the same, despite the best efforts of the bass player. Country songs all sound different, despite the best efforts of the bass player. Anyroadup, talking to the barmaid, she said she was having to clean up sick and it was making her feel ill. The guilty party was being rather mouthy and towards the end of the evening he got in one elderly woman's face, a situation which bubbled along for a short while before one of the performers punched him in the face. The two participants were separated, at which point the drunken vomity punchee rang the police and very loudly complained, and said it was racially aggravated (it wasn't, he was being a total dick regardless of race). He said he'd been hit by a bald bloke, at which point I may have upset him slightly by saying "I am Spartacus!" (followed by several other bald blokes also saying "I am Spartacus!". I'm not sure what the outcome was, the performer who'd delivered the punch left before the police (one copper) arrived, the copper had a look at the CCTV, and as I was leaving somebody (I'm not sure if it was the drunken punchee, seems fairly likely) was being escorted to the police car. Well, that was an unusually eventful night.

  18. 1996 with non original neck. Great fretless, lovely "mwah", currently strung with rounds, the board is good though as it's had chromes on most of the time. Has the very useful 3 way switch which gives you series/single coil/parallel pickup options. Would prefer collection, can meet up in Dorset/Devon/Somerset. Otherwise can be boxed if you arrange a courier. Cheers, Simon

  23. This gig was not a match for Maple Road. A jazz trio for background music would have been more appropriate. Nobody was interested in us.We played an 1.5 hour set then took an 1.5 hour break while the big $$ auction took place. We came back an played for another painful hour. On the plus side we strengthened our relationship with The Thelma Performing Arts Center and the "green room" was top notch. Daryl

  26. I have to add, I’m no expert, and I’ve made many errors along the way, but after straightening a warped neck recently (actually really pretty easy, maybe I got lucky), and having built many of the (passive) control plates on many of my basses from scratch, I can honestly say I love doing it. A full refret is not something I’ve had to do yet, but certainly dressing and polishing them is pretty relaxing exercise with headphones and a decent podcast on. Slow and easy is the key, patience is a virtue when it comes to this stuff. Making it a slow methodical, almost zen type exercise is really fulfilling. Small adjustments, nice and steady. This from someone who normally has absolutely no patience at all 😒. The idea of the OP was as a result of a conversation with a guitarist friend, who paid a tech to do some work for him. He’d literally never touched a truss rod, and wondered why his action sucked. Not everyone is technically minded of course, no shame in that at all, but it’s so gratifying when you can solve some of these issues for yourself without having to rely on a paid professional.

  29. In excellent condition for a 1990's bass, some play swirls and a small ding on the rear near the lower strap button. All works well and as it should. Small crack on scratch plate near jack socket. No bag but I do have a shipping box. £169 plus £20 UK shipping.

  30. Absolutely. For me, the best patch is 66 to 73/4. Wonderful B profile necks and tort plates. No silly pre-CBS price tag either.

  33. caution mini rant! I don’t think this is confined to courier companies or large companies. The amount of times I have to clean up and fix work by builders or other trades (independents getting paid well) mechanics, monosyllabic service industry staff etc. I do everything possible myself now and only reluctantly use a “professional”. I’m not sure when or why this lack of professional pride or courtesy started but if you want a recipe to be miserable in life it’s guaranteed if you work purely for money and not the intrinsic pleasure of doing what you do well and taking pride in whatever you do (however humble it may be). Rant over Edit: From personal experience I don’t use courier companies for anything over around £50. Obviously this is not possible for a business. The state of that package is just shocking. The fact that someone could deliver that or process it through its journey without feeling a sense of shame or a professional responsibility to escalate the issue is pretty shocking.

  34. Apparently the two Hull gigs will have tickets priced between £70 and £100. There will also be some limited tickets available for £20, as well as 50% of all Hull tickets available only being sold to people in nearby postcode regions ( HU, YO, DN and LN). I guess they are trying to avoid the recent Oasis ticket fiasco, and although not my cup of tea think they are to be applauded for taking this stance, along with the 10% donation to the Music Venue Trust. Good on ‘em.

  35. Once wet, the boxing will have pretty well no protective qualities, so any mishandling from then on will result in disproportionate damage. May I suggest, for future shipments, by any carrier, to sacrifice a roll of cling film, wrapped around the entire box..? This will keep water out in most reasonable (and some unreasonable...) situations. The cost is slight, but will ensure that all the contents are kept dry.

  37. Although I enjoy playing my squier jaguar, I might have to "move it on" -now that's what I call a euphemism, it's like "putting to sleep" - as I get all the sounds I need from my big basses and I really dislike the PJ pickup arrangement. Then again, Spider makes a very good point...I get my bus pass on Sunday so maybe I should hang on to it...could always swap the P pickup for a J...decisions...decisions...

  39. 100% this ^ I’d go so far as to say that with the possible exception of a refret I’d not let a tech near any of my basses. Every time a tech has ‘setup’ a bass for me I’ve had to reset it, the worse example being the guy who installed a new nut on a fretless with explicit instructions to replicate the exact depths of each slot of the nut that had broken, but who set it up to be almost unplayable below the third position the slots were so far off the board. ‘That’s how most people have it’ said he in his jaunty workmanlike tone…..

  40. Totally, its a lot of power. but really what it is, and what we were after is a lot of headroom, at ANY volume. the 3K sounds killer in a setting where one could easily use a 500w amp, and it can also do mondo power/volume for a loud band on a big stage. So I dont think of it as though the wattage rating precludes it from being a fantastic sounding/performing amp at moderate volume levels and up.
