  2. Bought this from @woolf earlier this year and it is a superb bass - but with the arrival of a wee mini Bass Apprentice. I can't see me having the time to justify three 4 string basses in the house! So it's up for sale. Borrowing the previous ad until I get some pictures - but the bass has been hung on the wall next to me since I bought it so it hasn't changed at all. Any questions fire away! Will source packing materials if necessary and can discuss postage costs.
  3. Hi Mike, things were different back then and processes had to be handled through the distributors directly Safe to say, we prefer the way things are now, the joys of improvement hey Cheers, Marcus
  4. I’m quite old but the old loosen them off and twang them routine is not something I’m familiar with?
  5. My band Shreds. will be opening for D.R.I. in Hull next year. I’ve been a huge fan since about age 14. How crazy is that!?!
  6. Ah, I'm sure it looks great, but imgur doesn't work in the UK anymore
  7. Swallowed Whole - Pearl Jam
  8. Will keep an eye out for your collection of hens' teeth next.
  9. I assume it’s to lessen the impact to your fingers when you walk in to some immovable object loading in. I’ve got a hell of a lump on my little finger where I bashed it on a hand rail carrying a tumble dryer - if only it had rounded edges…
  10. I agree - has me debating if I need two.

    BC 8" cab

Stupid question, but could you make a cab out of perspex? I'm thinking something like the appearance of a glass tower block where the plates are held with stainless buttons and the like? Or maybe just face a plywood box with thin sheets to make it look like a glass cube. Just wondering really, I'm not going to attempt it
  13. I do miss some of the Squiers I've owned. The 2 CV Jazzes with quartersawn neck, but especially the JVs. It all started with the JV Precision I bought for €75 and sold for...a lot more. The guy I sold it to still owns it and refuses to sell it back to me. Grrrr. Then there was this all-original, mint condition fiesta red JV Jazz in its original case I saw on the local marketplace-website that the owner was selling for about 200 euros. I sent her a message because I didn't want it to end up in the hands of someone who'd just buy it to sell for a lot more. It was the best Squier I've ever played and I secretly really really regret not keeping it. What an amazing instrument that was. I gave it a good clean, some new strings and a good setup and sold it for a market-based price to a guy who wanted to pair it with his fiesta red Precision. And theeeeen there was the sunburst JV I bought because it was so cheap. I thought the neck pickup was broken when I was still at the seller's place, turned out it was a bit of dust in the volume pot. I don't really like sunburst basses but I really considered keeping this one as well. But, as I already have a lot of Jazzes and had just ordered a new custom De Gier, it had to go. But it was a gréat bass.
  14. I've just ordered one of these.... https://www.thomann.de/gb/supro_1307_chorus.htm At only £67 it's a bargain, over £100 off the UK price.
  15. I think evolving in the face of local competition and from taking on board feedback from some who'd perhaps not had such good experiences. Just a guess though.
  16. Side note: I met Van once and he was friendly. Me and my Dad saw him in a park and my Dad said 'I've just been singing one of your songs' and Van said 'are you in a band' and my Dad's response was 'no, just singing it to myself' and there was a bit of a laugh and friendly small talk.
  17. And the kids' album is released today. Shameless proud dad post!
  18. Eat The Rich - Motörhead
  19. My Armacab arrived Weds. Well packed, but still sitting in the box. Have you started yours yet? Was interested in what prep you are doing. My intention is to try it on some off cuts and see how it handles slight defects on the edges. Not sure if I need to have the surface piano grade smooth or the armacab will easily handle the small splinters on the edges. Also not sure if I want or need to round the edges. People seem to do it but I'm not sure why. My cab is basically done bar wiring and finish. Slightly nervous about the covering though.
  20. Would you consider posting this to Germany at all?
  21. No Mike, just a fun writing/recording project. Getting loads of different mates involved. There will be an “albums’” worth of material in the spring/summer. It’s been fun.
  22. It looks like you are right...Has to be said, that is a pretty niche thing to do. 'I need new pickups for my John Birch bass, therefore I will buy another John Birch bass and take the pickups out of it'...That is quite weird, right?
