Selling my CV Mustang bought off @Loz back in the summer. I really wanted a short scale mustang as I love the look and the tone, but despite giving it a fair go my sausage fingers are proving too much for the narrower string spacing and shorter scale. It's in excellent condition, not a nick or dent on it apart from a small scuff to the top of the headstock and some very low level tarnishing on the bridge/tuners. I've fitted a new set of Labella Mustang Flats before deciding if it stays or goes and these are pretty much brand new. Looking for £285 - happy to meet up within reasonable distance or can post if buyer sorts a courier (I have a dedicated shipping box from Andertons I can use to send and it’ll be well packed) Thanks, J

i have played a lot of amp heads and two brands just stand out: Ashdown and Peavey Max. These have great tone shaping and i love how they just make a fantastic tone. I am not talking about the additional effects which i can craft from my pedals/modellers. I don't really like the DG Amps(I am a metal bassist) and feel that their pedals offer a better value than their heads which are mostly one trick pony but that one trick they do it better than everyone else but their clean tone isnt something i dig in.

Bought this from @woolf earlier this year and it is a superb bass - but with the arrival of a wee mini Bass Apprentice. I can't see me having the time to justify three 4 string basses in the house! So it's up for sale. Borrowing the previous ad until I get some pictures - but the bass has been hung on the wall next to me since I bought it so it hasn't changed at all. Any questions fire away! Will source packing materials if necessary and can discuss postage costs.

Hi Mike, things were different back then and processes had to be handled through the distributors directly Safe to say, we prefer the way things are now, the joys of improvement hey Cheers, Marcus

I’m quite old but the old loosen them off and twang them routine is not something I’m familiar with?

My band Shreds. will be opening for D.R.I. in Hull next year. I’ve been a huge fan since about age 14. How crazy is that!?!

I assume it’s to lessen the impact to your fingers when you walk in to some immovable object loading in. I’ve got a hell of a lump on my little finger where I bashed it on a hand rail carrying a tumble dryer - if only it had rounded edges…

Stupid question, but could you make a cab out of perspex? I'm thinking something like the appearance of a glass tower block where the plates are held with stainless buttons and the like? Or maybe just face a plywood box with thin sheets to make it look like a glass cube. Just wondering really, I'm not going to attempt it

I do miss some of the Squiers I've owned. The 2 CV Jazzes with quartersawn neck, but especially the JVs. It all started with the JV Precision I bought for €75 and sold for...a lot more. The guy I sold it to still owns it and refuses to sell it back to me. Grrrr. Then there was this all-original, mint condition fiesta red JV Jazz in its original case I saw on the local marketplace-website that the owner was selling for about 200 euros. I sent her a message because I didn't want it to end up in the hands of someone who'd just buy it to sell for a lot more. It was the best Squier I've ever played and I secretly really really regret not keeping it. What an amazing instrument that was. I gave it a good clean, some new strings and a good setup and sold it for a market-based price to a guy who wanted to pair it with his fiesta red Precision. And theeeeen there was the sunburst JV I bought because it was so cheap. I thought the neck pickup was broken when I was still at the seller's place, turned out it was a bit of dust in the volume pot. I don't really like sunburst basses but I really considered keeping this one as well. But, as I already have a lot of Jazzes and had just ordered a new custom De Gier, it had to go. But it was a gréat bass.

I've just ordered one of these.... https://www.thomann.de/gb/supro_1307_chorus.htm At only £67 it's a bargain, over £100 off the UK price.

I think evolving in the face of local competition and from taking on board feedback from some who'd perhaps not had such good experiences. Just a guess though.

Side note: I met Van once and he was friendly. Me and my Dad saw him in a park and my Dad said 'I've just been singing one of your songs' and Van said 'are you in a band' and my Dad's response was 'no, just singing it to myself' and there was a bit of a laugh and friendly small talk. -
And the kids' album is released today. Shameless proud dad post!
