Now, the upcoming HZB4 looks a bit better to me, though a 5-string would be preferable. The changes from the HNB5 are subtle e.g. the pickguard is not quite as mad and isn't under half the controls. The rear doesn't have a cavity all the way under the bridge. These pics are the Satin Silver (top) and Gloss Aura Pearl (rear) finishes, it's also expected in Satin Black.

I'm going to put a wanted ad up for an XS-100, so Woody may end up getting my XS-1 after all 😅 PS, yes please do change the thread title for us to "XS-1 & XS-100"

Are those 2 band EQs? I thought the Sterling only came with 3 band EQ and the pickup selector switch... Shows what I know!

Hi, I have the same bass and I need a new nut. I'm having some difficulty finding an exact match and wondered if you had ever had to replace the nut on yours? Also, not sure if the nut is flat bottomed or not (the existing one is still attached but is cracked). The bass is still playable but the sustain on the A string has fallen away badly as this is where the crack is.

Jeff bought a bass from me in a hassle free transaction. I'd recommend anyone to deal with Jeff; a trustworthy and lovely Basschatter indeed. Thank you Jeff.

Bought a vacuum tube off of James in a nice easy deal. Highly recommended! Cheers.

Just bought a bass from Mark in what proved to a very friendly and efficient process. Distance prevented a try out before buying but a WhatsApp video answered all my questions. Bomb proof packing and great communication throughout. Highly recommended. Thanks again Mark

Graham Gouldman was one of my early influences. Saw them on every tour from Sheet Music up to Deceptive Bends. Sadly for me, the creativity that was fuelled by the tensions between the two songwriting teams vanished when Godley and Creme left but what a run they had. Always amazing live as well.

I don't know who originally made it but I've had it a couple of years and added a Thunderbird neck. It's had a Rickenbacker 5 string pickup, so will need re-routing for another shape. Has a KiOgan wiring loom and the cavities have copper conductive tape. Paint job - not good - Halfords finest put on too quickly and not sanded down. Top is finished with a vinyl wrap (which doesn't hide the paint inconsistencies underneath). Great if you want that 'Rat' look.

Wombat started following Extra comfortable/soft strap

There are comments in another thread but if it’s definitely comfort not cost look at a Heistercamp strap. Have it exactly how you want and choose ’with padding’. I just got a 3 1/2 inch for a heavy P I like to play and not having any of the associated probs now. Money well spent!

Oh the irony - I posted this about on page 1 of the thread about how the Moog EP-3 wouldn't play with the Eventide. Guess what the second pedal I ever used that won't work with the EP-3 is. Yeah, you guessed it, the XS-1! It somehow tricks the pedal, and in heel position it thinks it's a control switch and does some weird stuff and flicks the LED to green, then when you push it, it takes about a quarter swell before it flicks to expression pedal mode. Also, with the EP-3 connected, when you toggle the XS1 on and off, it always returns to toe down position (knob setting, as if there was no expression connected) until you move it. I have other expression pedals (it's fine with my Dunlop), but that's super frustrating as I use the Moog on my board with an expression pedal splitter. URGH. UDATE: Via the expression pedal splitter, the issue is solved. The electronics in that seem to offset whatever issue the Moog EP-3 causes to the XS-1... so the issue is now much less of an issue. Win!

10cc were the first band I ever saw - Brum Odeon, September 1978. They were brilliant. I'll be at their Birmingham show next year - I think I've seen them (and Graham Gouldman's solo shows) about thirty times. I've never seen a bad gig. Sadly, I got into them too late to see the original line up, and I'm incredibly jealous of anyone who did. Their seventies albums are almost all superb. "Sheet Music" and "How Dare You" are about as good as Pop music will ever get. Unbelievably, my band got to support GG at a rain soaked outdoor gig in Manchester in 2023. When he walked in to our shared dressing room, I was reticent to speak to him. What if he turned out to be a Diva? Well, he wasn't. He was a lovely chap, and we had a very geeky chat about bass guitars while I tried not to burst into tears. Later that year, I interviewed Kevin Godley (via Zoom) about his brilliant solo album 'Muscle Memory'. He was ace. Funny and clever and sharp as a nail. GG is also one of the most underrated bassists ever. He's up there with McCartney for me.

The Short Scale Bass Appreciation Society!Obrienp replied to Baloney Balderdash's topic in Bass Guitars I don’t think the reverse headstock has any impact on string tension but it can be very confusing to tune, especially when you switch basses during a set. I have an Acinonyx, which has a Stingray config but reversed and when I switch to it during a set, I always take ages to tune it.
