This is my last gig of 2025. I’m not playing (by choice) NYE this year, which is probably the first time in nearly 40 years. In what was supposed to be a period of winding down gigging a bit, still managed to play 95 gigs this year and 2026 is already looking quite promising. 😀 Happy New Year to all BC’s gigging fraternity!

High Fade interview with Ollie the monster bassman

This was the weirdest thing when I saw it pop up on Insta when they posted it a couple months back. I took over from Ollie in a band he couldn't do anymore coz of High Fade 😅 He gives a shoutout to an Edinburgh legend in the quickfire section (not me unfortunately). - Today

Thank you for the offer but I ended up taking it to the recycling centre on the clean up for Xmas , I felt bad but its been recycled at least.... we're using the surviving one as a side fill as it's got a smaller footprint than our current wedges.

Thank you for the extra information re: relicing. I’d be after the sort for aging that makes the finish go satin like some of the (nitro I guess) finishes.

My lad is a fan, but he was saying that their new drummer isn't a patch on the he replaced. -
And that's how it grabs you and then you're hooked for life. 🤩 Dave

I play in a gospel band and a couple of the keyboardists are like this - a piece of tape across their bottom couple octaves does the job!

If you got it off AliExpress, they've got a good returns policy - certainly for smaller items they supply a postage paid label and the return is to a UK address, and IME the refund happens as soon as the parcel is dropped off at the post office.

As I understand it, you have a degree of recourse if things go awry; Paypal dispute etc. I have seen a few posts from people who've bought the same model from the same seller and things are generally OK. End of the day, it was only £200! I can hang it on the wall.

There is one in beeston, Nottingham thats a lot closer. “Turner violins” I know for certain that they do double bass - fairly close to m1 junction Failing that I know a double bass luthier in Coalville who may be able to help you or at least signpost you. he built his own cello from raw lumber … ✨🤷♂️ knowing him he’ll probably make you a magical one out of five lolly sticks and some glue that will survive nuclear holocaust

Hey Andy - loving mine: Done a couple of 2 hour gigs with it now, and liking it more each time! Will need to tweak a couple of patches as I get used to it in a live band mix, but discovering more depth and capability to it all the time, and reckon it's going to be an excellent standalone pedal board for much of my live use.
