They're rubbish!! or maybe you just don't like them
LawrenceH replied to police squad's topic in General Discussion
If I didn't do it, I'd have missed out on a lot of stuff I grew to appreciate and ended up learning from. Not everything though, some of it's just rubbish. -
FenderPBass started following Donner Pocket Go

There is this video on YouTube by Six String Labs that does a deep dive on the comparisons different modelers and the accuracy of the pocket go is about 98% to the OG tone that it was modeled after

I just got one a month ago and I love it! It has 21 presets but I only use about 4 of them. I have an Ampeg SVT and B15 presets that sound very good. There are no distortion/over drive effects per say but I have a Mesa Boogie 400 preset that I turn that fan up on and it sounds so tight and gnarly. The only thing I don’t like about it is the sound level and over level of the pedal that you have to mess with to get it to the right levels. Overall for $50 (got it on sale) it’s a steal.

I read on some of the Neural DSP forums that you have to delete and reload the app for the new V2 captures to appear
-
Wow. That is good. Literally the same thing happened with me a few years ago - but a Mono double bass gig bag (over £200). I got a brief reply from Marcus at Bass Direct telling me to take it up with Westside Distribution. Wonder what was different.

How was your open mic or jam night last night?
Geek99 replied to tauzero's topic in General Discussion
My OM night was brilliant. i had been chatting to two singers (sisters) who are both bass curious. Neither had sung with a band before, always tapes. So we made it happen. Then we did their mum as well. Yes, she wanted a band-backing experience too. She did Breakfast at Tiffany’s with someone playing double bass very well. I got called up to play The Chain all the way through, then one sister joined in for Dreams (me on bass) and the other for sweet home Alabama (me on bass predictably) . One clearly has great taste as she admired my sire v7/5 in metallic CAR -
Happy Thanks Giving to you guys in the sunny USA. Hope you had a good day Daryl. Dave

I don't think you have to do that. If I don't like something I just ignore it and therefore have no opinion to share. -

It sure is. Doesn't work with B2-4 unfortunately?

But then it'd be affa wee!

Its a very grunty-tubey sounding amp, lots of ballsy character. Its got tons of power, and the low end sounds large. I also have a Bass 400 and a Strategy 8:88, and the focus of the 800D was to get that Bass 400/400+ character, and they did, I really like the sound if it.

I strongly agree with the general sentiment of this thread, and have always had a sense that I should try harder to 'get' stuff I don't like. But I also think there is some stuff that after careful consideration in the spirit of open-minded self-improvement, truly, genuinely, objectively is just utter toss. -
eude started following Rehearsal room rigs
-
I used to rehearse there back in the late 90s/early 00s. I'm the reason they had ABMs. They used to have a full Ampeg 8x10 valve stack in each room, and I kept destroying them 😎 I used a lot of effects back then, and th Ampegs couldn't take it. I suggested they got in some ABMs, and they did. They were brilliant too.

Cort space 5 and the fluctuating prices …
edstraker123 replied to RAY AGAINST THE MACHINE's topic in General Discussion
I liked the HILS HNB5 better than the Space -I picked it up new from Andertons at £479 and presumably that deal will come back at some point. Might be worth considering if you haven't definitely made up your mind or got one already. Just checked and they are on offer again at £479. Also Andertons are an easy place to return to if it wasn't for you. -
NickA started following 'cello riser for double bass?
-
Even if the riser works it will have a frequency response that accentuates some notes / harmonics more than others. I really can't see it working across a wide enough band to make a difference, especially outdoors. Small amp and a battery pack. Or...ditch the double bass and get a sousaphone 😀
