Doh. I was complaining about the lack of a DMX on the wall washer. The clue is RGB. Once you have the address set, the faders 1,2 and 3 on the controller control the Red Green and Blue LEDs. Doh

Hey, I’ve just released a video lesson on the bass line to Christmas Wrapping by The Waitresses, and this is one funky bass line, recorded by bassist, 'Tracy Wormworth'. In the video, I break the tune down section by section and show you a simplified version of the main bass riff that still works perfectly with the original track. You’ll get a core riff you can reuse throughout the song, plus all the key variations you need to sound convincing. To make it easy to follow, there’s a free PDF with notation and TAB so you can learn it note for note at your own pace. Alpher basses are beautiful instruments and so lovely to play. I have two of them that I bought from their workshop near Keighley. Chris and Alex are so knowledgeable and it shows in their instruments. Whoever buys this will get a great instrument at a great price. Good luck with the sale

I'm definitely a fan and have bought way too many cheapish secondhand so I'll never need to use a Markbass authorised repair service. I gigged an SA450 and TRV102P last night in a large pub to decent effect. I was on the limit however, so really should've taken my pair of NY121P cabs, but just about got way with it. I also use a Markbass Compressore and Rafferty HPF to reduce wasted low end amp power. The Compressore also adds a nice 12ax7 warmth.

I tried a Casio PX-S7000 recently. The sounds were great. Action is very playable deep into the keybed given how compact it is, but it is unavoidably light so not for everyone. Good for gigging in terms of weight but you'd definitely have to baby it. I'd have one at home for sure, the industrial design is excellent. Going back to @Hellzero's comment earlier on VSTs, I don't think any stage pianos or probably even high-end home hybrids are going to match the depth and realism of the best software ones. Of course you pay a price in terms of convenience - that's what puts me off Korgs, which are essentially a Linux PC in a keyboard frame. They have huge multilayer samples but you have to wait ages for them to boot up.

We had a really good night last night, with lots of friends there, at a venue not far from me where we have celebrated various milestones with my bands over the years. Just what we needed really. This year's been really difficult for the band with a change of guitarist and all the things that led up to it, plus our drummer's serious illness and us running with a replacement. The band as it is now is really enjoying itself.

From my own viewpoint, I never liked the ABM series due to the mix of sliders and dials. Somehow this seemed wrong to me and less intuitive because of it. I may be in the minority, but I always quite liked the MAG series amps and the Rootmasters are great. The cabs are awful though. -

You are right - a good reminder. The Casio piano was on my original list, having tried one in Martin Phelps music in Croydon, about three years ago. I need to pop over and try it again.

The Shen SB 100 that I use for jazz and my pathetic attempts at bowing in my lessons and orchestra is a D neck while the old Czech ply that I play for bluegrass has an E flat neck. Not too much of a problem because when I play bluegrass I rarely play anything higher than C on the G string and find it easy to switch between the instruments. As Beedster said above, listening to yourself and making adjustments as you play is the way to go and don't worry about it too much. So far that's worked for me but I agree that it would be a problem farther up the neck and in thumb position.

Nord Electro 4D 61 Keyboard Weighted Waterfall SW61 Superb Nord Electro keyboard - this has all the classic acoustic and electro mechanical keyboards you could wish for for live and studio performances. Rhodes and Wurlitzer electric pianos, acoustic grands and uprights Hammond, Farfisa and Vox organs. It even has Mellotron and Chamberlain samples, plus strings, harps and guitars. This version also has drawbar control. It’s a classic in its own right but still updateable using the Nord site and sample library. Included is the keyboard, user manual, mains lead, damper pedal, sample library on CD plus a nice heavily padded gig-bag. I have added a custom ‘half moon’ switch to control the rotary speaker simulation from the keyboard rather than using a foot switch like an old Hammond. If you collect in person I’ll also include a stand. The price is non-negotiable and sorry no trades. It is feasible to post but only in the UK and at your cost and risk. See pics - I’ve not gigged it but have used it in rehearsals occasionally. To be honest it’s been used at home as a piano and the other wonderful sounds have been wasted! Selling as I use my old Korg live as I’m not worried about it being knocked about and I’m going to buy a simple piano for home use.-
