It's sad, but it's been on the card since the original owners sold up and cashed in. My local was the OG Pmt in Southend. I went there a bit, but I was never a fan and felt dirty doing do. Something bout the way they ran the business felt off, and their face-to-face customer service left something to be desired. Not to mention some of the horror stories I'd heard about their guitar setups. I used to quite like their original tiny shop, but they got too big too quickly IMHO as the "professional" bit in their moniker went out the window and successfully put their local rivals out of business by targeting the budget end of the market. Eventually, they simply didn't stock the things I was interested in and wanted to try. When they sold the business, the original owners retained the Southend building itself and charged the new owners an extortionate amount for rent. So the new management simply closed the store. It surprised me, but to be honest I don't miss it. There's other local shops I miss more - such as Honky Tonk - who PMT effectively put out of business.

Unfortunately this wasn't my experience when I was up there in November just gone. I would definitely try again though when I'm next in Nottingham.

Played a great gig at the weekend, probably our best yet. The Thunderstangbacker sounded ace, and I love my little Eich combo!

For me it's not the sites for new gear that have killed them off. It's the massive saturated market for second hand gear. Right on your doorstep. You can literally get anything you want for a fraction of the price, and if you can't, it's only a short wait and/or travel until you do.

I would have thought that most of the reasons would cause the other strings to be out too, unless there is something actually wrong wiht that string. I would certainly swap it with another one before looking for any other permenant change. What sort of level of flat are we talking?

First thing I thought was who the hell plays on the 24th fret? A few factors to consider. Strings, old/new? Action at 24th fret? Is the buyer playing the harmonic or the fretted note? Do the other strings intonate correctly up the dusty end? Neck on the wonk? It's feasible that the 24th fret could be in the wrong place, unlikely, but possible. It's also possible that if the action was a bit high at this point, simply depressing the string might throw out the tuning. Given the scale on these is (I believe) 34", you're looking at a fretted note at the 24th fret to be c.8.5" this high up the neck. If the frets are wide/jumbo and haven't been crowned correctly, given the shortness of the scale at this point, this could throw out the tuning/intonation a little. A little. Millimetres, or part thereof, will make a difference at that point, no significant but a difference.

I'd be more worried about you bumping into things, than your sound!
