  2. Got my old s9 Precision a proper set up. New nut, new jack socket and tidying up of the wiring. I’ve owned it since 1999 and it has had a lot of use, as shown by the way the nitro finish on the neck is flaking off. Might get the neck refinished eventually but will leave it as is for now. Pick guard was like that when I got it. It does make for easier access to the wiring I suppose. Not a ‘proper’ vintage Fender compared to classic earlier models, but it is a damn good workhorse bass.
  3. These were a big deal in the unplugged era of the ‘90s . Bargain ! Glwts
  4. Cost of financing equipment and property acquisitions and rentals..? Interest rates are cripplingly high.
  5. Tonight we all sat in a circle, kept the volume right down and deep dived into the arrangements for three originals. We had all come up with our perspectives on WhatsApp in advance. I used my fretless and it opened some new sonic avenues. We got into some theory which was fun. I am turning a D into a Bm7 🙂... but only sometimes and i makes a big differenceto feel. We had long discussion on how to move in and out of solos and decided to end a song in Em on A major to accentuate the mbiguous lyrical ending. It was pointed out that one if my basslines sounded like Dani California so I ended up quoting that instead. Another song, relegated a really nice line I came up with using a different inversion of each chord to the chorus and came up with a mwah-enriched melodic line for verses. Similar attention given to drums, guitars and vocals, as well as overall timing and structure. Was fun working as a group and achieving some major improvements by thinking from an audience perspective. None of us could have achieved this alone. We aren't the beatles but still very satisfying.
  6. This… he’s just done w2 for Tom Peterson…(1 is MIA 😟) but TP is gigging the other one. as @warwickhuntsays, @Basvarkenis Brooks Bass guitars.
  7. It's never going to be easy to get right if you are mixing from on stage. You can set levels on a sound check and as soon as the adrenaline sets in the db's go up. I've never yet met a singer who doesn't up the volume once the gig starts. It also depends upon the song, there are parts when you want your singers to be the same volume and parts where the lead vocal needs to be heard over the backing. You might be doing call and return on one part of the song and want equal volumes, harmonies in another part and gentle oohs and aahs in the background later. Your singers need to practice their parts and control their own volume. We rehearse sometimes with the PA pointing back at us so we hear the front of house sound and you have to practice and listen to get the relative volumes right. You also have to get monitoring right, if you can't hear what each other are doing then you can't really match volumes appropriately. I aim to set the gain so everyone is equal on the loudest parts and let the singers sort out for themselves who should be the loudest in any given part of the song. I like to record the perfomances from time to time, You soon pick up who is hiding in the mix and who is too fond of their own voice and can make necessary adjustments, In the end though there is nothing you can do with people who don't practice singing together.

  10. What country is it made in?
  11. Ok, so GAS has got the better of me (again) and I’ve splurged a load of cash on something else, so this is now available for £120 including UK second class delivery.
  12. @Basvarken is the man! You have to check his works here.
  13. Much cleaner and tighter sound IMO.Cheers.

  15. Yoda in da house… you forgot “hmmmm” at the end
  16. agree re: Ashdown I still flog my 98 Klystrom head but the CTM-300 truly is the business
  17. Clicked on it, never heard of Rumble, with regards to the track, lasted 22 seconds and turned it off. They will probably get a slot on the next series of Jools Holland 😀
  18. Up for grabs - the pedal I thought I'd never sell, but GAS is a cruel mistress and my solo ambient bass noodling isn't something that's getting a lot of focus right now. Incredible granular delay, micro looper, ambient soundscape generator. So good that sometimes it feels like cheating at music! This is boxed, in perfect condition, never gigged, with manual and power supply. Has velcro on the underside. Postage in the UK is £5, or collection in Derby welcomed.
  19. Slacking you are.
  20. If they "work their way out", push them back in!!!
