I am very saddened by this, more than I expected to be - I like some if the Deftones music but was never a huge fan, but Chi always came across as such a genuine, spiritual guy, all of which was expressed perfectly buy his bass playing. Their music was certainly taken to a higher plane by his soulful lines. Truckstop Posted April 14, 2013 Share Posted April 14, 2013 Really really saddened by this. I've been a huge Deftones fan since I was 12 and Chi is the reason I took up bass. A sad loss, he was a wonderful musician and by all accounts a lovely guy too. He was a massive influence on me as a player and his use of space and dynamics really set him apart from a lot of other players in 'metal' bands (hesitate to call them that really).
