  1. Since buying my Euro Bolt I never pick up my other basses, it's that good. In the past I've owned a Korean Legend Custom and Classic and a Q4, but the Euro is way ahead of those. The current Korean models look to have caught up with the Euros but are much more expensive than the older ones.
  2. I bought some as a backup last time I was in there, I haven't tried them, but they're in a sealed foil packet like Ernie Balls so i'm sure they'll last.
  3. Sleep Token The Wonder Years The Menzingers Thrice Sincere Engineer I didn't think I'd listened to that much Sleep Token, their newest album isn't in my top songs, I think I just put the first two albums on a lot while I worked in Jan-March. I always made sure I listened to songs I was learning on YouTube instead so they stay out of my playlists!

    Great work on the board!
  5. An update to my board, a Digitech Drop was delivered today! This will cover the 4-5 songs we do in Eb, plus the one with an octave. I haven't stuck it down or tidied the cables yet... there's one plug left on my (battery powered) daisy chain. I'm thinking that probably needs to be used, right? Any suggestions for a nano pedal on the top row? Maybe a delay just so I can play Pneuma by Tool? 😁
  6. XLR only, which I guess makes sense if your DI is going to the PA and jack out is going to your amp, but it would have been nice to have the option, especially for the headphone out.
  7. My first pedalboard... It's taken me 23 years of playing, but I finally decided to make the jump. For the first 10 years I went straight into the amp, but since then I've had a Zoom B2.1, B9.1 and B3, the Headrush Gigboard plus a Boss ME-50B which I didn't really like. Most of which was used for a couple of core tones, plus the odd effect when needed, so a pedal board makes more sense. I was going to try the Laney Digbeth as my preamp until the Joyo Monomyth was available for half the price. That's at the end of the chain so I can use the DI, and has a Joyo Scylla and Korg Pitch-black before it. Powered by an Anker power bank and Li'l moXie 9v converter, which works very well and makes this board very portable - no more searching for sockets at the front of the stage! Ive used a Pedaltrain Metro 16. I was going to go for a Nano+, but they're similarly priced and this gives me an extra row if it's ever needed. I've left room for an octave pedal, and I might add a mini chorus to the top row. I'm very happy with it so far, and it's got it's first gig on Saturday!
  8. Ed sold me his Korg Pitchblack, arrived quickly and well packaged, thanks very much!
  9. The Monomyth and Scylla arrived quickly and I've had a good play with them. Very happy with the Scylla - when I've played with software compressors before I've struggled to tell what effect parameter changes are making, with this I can hear the difference. Maybe I should have tried compressor pedal earlier! The Monomyth is great, lots of EQ control and a nice usable driven sound to cut through the mix. Turn everything up and it's exactly what I hear in all those Darkglass demos! The only problem I have is noise from my daisy chained power supply. I've tried a Lil Moxie 5v to 9v converter today though my laptop and it's completely gone, so a new power bank is on order to go under my board (also on order!). So yes, I've surrendered to the habit 😆

    Affordaboard

A mini chorus for £35 is tempting, I only really need one for one song
  11. I'll take this please - I'll send you a message
  12. I've toyed with selling this a few times but after buying a preamp pedal it's time to move it on. It sounds great, better than any other multi effects I've used, and has a really easy interface with the touch screen. I'm just not using 95% of it's capabilities so I'm going to build a small board instead. Comes boxed with power supply. Great condition, it still has the screen protector film on.
  13. I saw the Monomyth is on Amazon now, and it offered me 15% off, so I've got one arriving on Saturday. Then I noticed the Scylla compressor was also offering a 15% discount so I threw that in the basket too. Two decent looking pedals for £104.78, can't to wrong with that. Except these are the first two pedals going on my first board and it could be a slippery slope 🤣
  14. I haven't watched this yet but but looks interesting
  15. I'm near M5 jct 6 and I'm heading to York on Saturday 27th if that's any help if anyones coming up to the Midlands?
  16. £479 on two sites I've seen. A bit too pricey for me I think.
  17. That's very true, before the B7K was added I was using a Soldano amp for my overdrive channel, sounded great!
  18. I like mine. My chain goes something like: EQ - Compressor - Chorus - Octave - Drop then either Ampeg SVT into Markbass 212 IR or Darkglass B7K into Ampeg 8x10 for my overdrive tone There are a few bass amps, but it's enough to get the tones you want (a Trace Elf was just added too). The different routing options work well too, but you might find it limited in effects if you use a lot of those - my old Zoom B3 had a lot more, but the Headrush definitely sounds better and much easier to use, everything is very easy to adjust. The last update allowed each footswitch two have two options, which made it much more flexible - you could have 2 different settings for one pedal, or switching something else entirely. For me, it's overkill, I probably use 10% of it's capability, but it would cost a lot more to build a pedalboard with at least 5 pedals, and I'd end up doing a lot more tap dancing. It has the added bonus of being an audio interface, great for headphone practice, etc.
  19. In 23 years of gigging I've had: Trace Elliot AH300 SMC + Peavey 410 +115 Ampeg B2R + 410HLF Gallien Krueger 1001RB-II + Neo212 Musicman Audiophile + SWR Triad Tecamp Puma & S212 (since 2009 and still going strong!) I'd happily have any of the old ones now, they all sounded great. I should have kept the GK rig but I wasn't in a band and needed some money.
  20. I like the features that make this stand out from a standard Precison, but I prefer his old Jaguar!
  21. New bass day! I thought I'd revive this thread rather than start a new one, since this it where it belongs! I've had 3 Spectors before, a Legend 4, a Q4 Pro and a Legend Custom. All fine basses, but nothing special and I've ended up moving them on. I've always wanted to try a Euro but couldn't justify the price or they didn't suit my bands at the time. I saw PMT had this Spector EuroBolt 4 in Inferno Red in their sale, £700 cheaper than it's original price. I couldn't resist! It's got a very wide neck compared to what I'm used to, but a comfortable profile and it's nice and light (my bathroom scales show 7.4lbs), so I'm sure I'll be able to get used to it. A couple of issues - there's a mark which appears to be under the finish on the top horn, and two cracks in the finish at the neck join - perhaps screwed in too tightly? Other than that it all looks good. But why couldn't they make the electronics cover flush with the body, they are on the Korean made ones. Looking forward to plugging it in this evening and seeing how the Aguilar pickups and preamp compare to the EMG HZs I've had in the others.
  22. I've been to a few gigs by myself this year. Not that I don't have friends with similar tastes, we just live hundreds of miles apart now. I'd rather go by myself than miss out. My wife used to go with me, but childcare costs more than the gig tickets these days.
  23. I had a sunburst one. Played really nicely, I really liked the flat fingerboard radius. But I sold it to fund my habit of not keeping nice basses for long enough.
  24. I bought this Headrush Gigboard at the start of lockdown and haven't gigged it, I just used it at home and rehearsal, so it's in great condition, it still has the film over rhe screen. It does way more than I need, so I'm considering replacing it with a small preamp pedal. It's more guitar focused than bass, but I never felt short of options. I like the Ampeg SVT head into the 8x10 amp sim or Markbass 212 IR, with a Soldano head in parallel for my dirty tone, or a Darkglass B7K, and add effects to that, but there are plenty of amps, cabs, IRs, microphone, and effects to get the tones you're looking for. Its really easy to set up and edit with the touch screen and the tones are the best I've had from a multi effects. The four switches can be configured to switch between rigs, switch on effects, whatever you prefer. It has a looper too and can be used as audio interface for recording with reamping from the clean signal. Comes boxed with power supply and USB cable. Ideally collection from WR9 or meet around the West Midlands, but can post if required, though I haven't looked at what that may cost. https://www.headrushfx.com/products/gigboard
