  1. Tantalising! I'm just getting to grips with mine - so many great options on the John East preamp that I haven't dared use my Flyrig with it yet. Hang in there!
  2. I'm sorry to have to show my ignorance, but what is the purpose of the "Hootenanny button" on the back of the headstock? Looks like a strap button!? Not that you'll need it with this gem, but GLWTS! Pete
  3. These are really giggable - I know someone who gigs with his - Stingray-toned basses. This is a bargain price too. GLWTS!
  4. What a beautiful bass - Atelier Z simply better than Fender imho.
  5. I think the 15th or 22nd are probably favourite, given that the 29th is another bank holiday weekend. If anyone has a preference either way, please let me know. I agree @Richard R - don't want to be rushing in at the last minute and under pressure to get out in a hurry - but I would suggest starting and finishing a little later, to allow people from further-flung reaches of the Midlands to get there - say, 11 - 4? School hols seem to be at the beginning of the month. Term ends on the 31st March in Nottingham. That would suggest 22nd as the better of the two.
  6. Hi all. I've now had confirmation that any Saturday in April is available to us after all. £60 for hiring from 12 - 4pm, £95 for all day. Any thoughts? Pete
  7. We work with who turns up - that evening we had a tap dancer (standing up), violin, tenor sax, alto, clarinet, keys, snare, bass and guitars. Play in threes nominated pretty randomly by the moderator for five minutes, no stopping, no conferring - great fun, though scary at first! Sometimes, it even sounds like music.
  8. Got to say, I had a good experience with PMT over the past few days. I wanted to replace my existing practice/rehearsal rig (GK MB200 + Ashdown OR-110 cab) with a relatively lightweight combo, for ease of transit and kindness to dodgy back, and marked out the Boss Katana 210, the Laney Digbeth 210 and the Trace Elliott Elf 110 combo as possible replacements. PMT in Nottingham said they could get the Katana and the Trace in for me to try (I had to pay quite a deposit, but it was refundable, so I wasn't too bothered). Between arranging this on Saturday morning and getting home that afternoon, my regular tech suggested trying PJB and I found a used but excellent condition GB-400 amp on eBay, with the C4 extension cab. By Sunday evening, I'd tried it, paid for it and had it back home. So I rang PMT to say please don't bother with getting the Trace and Katana in and please refund my deposit (feeling somewhat guilty as I'd mucked them about a bit). In fact, they'd already got the Katana and the Trace was due in later today; but Joe, who'd sorted out the original arrangement, couldn't have been more charming, arranged the refund there and then over the phone and wished me well with the PJB. I was really impressed and relieved. Thanks, chaps!
  9. Is that a thing?! 😉 Lovely bass though. GLWTS!
  10. This might give you a better idea of the space (fortunately someone else took some pix!)
  11. I emailed my contact on Friday, she's trying to sort it out today... 🤞
  12. It's available @Richard R. However,I still can't tell you which Saturday, plus I forgot to take the pictures I promised at my last improv session there. Bad bassist! 😀 Actually, there's a little bit about it on their website: https://www.radfordcaregroup.org.uk/prospect-street/
  13. Always seemingly better than the US-made models. GLWTS!
  14. Superb pix. Next time I'm selling, I'll come to you for a photo session!
  15. UPDATE: I've been told that we can have the space one Saturday in April, but which one will have to wait until a bit nearer the time, as they have a fortnightly commitment to another group, who haven't yet sorted out their 2023 dates. I'll post some pix of the location next week when I'm there for our monthly improv night.
  16. Difficult to make a short-scale fiver look balanced, but they seem to have done the trick with this one. GLWTS.
  17. Lovely! GLWTS.
  18. Unfortunately, both the people who have a say in allocating the Nottingham location are on email auto-reply at the moment, but hoping for some news next week. Keep watching!
  19. Can't believe this is still here at this price. If I hadn't just bought my dream hand-built bass, I'd have been very tempted. GLWTS.
  20. Watch this space!
  21. No worries, Frank, at my age any kind of a parent is an unlikely, but welcome, surprise 😀
  22. I'll explore and get back to you, if that's a shared opinion.
  23. There is an option I could explore, but is Nottingham too far out of the way for some?
  24. NBD! (I'll probably post on that thread too, but here's the stuff you've - well I've - been waiting for) 😉 I finally picked up the bass from Jon on Thursday, but haven't had time or the pix to do anything about it until now. It's awesome! It oozes quality, the action with the brass nut is superb, the tonal range from the John East pre-amp is incredible - everything from a Stingray clank to a Jamerson thud - and it weighs... 7lb 6oz!! Jon was quite apologetic - he'd been aiming for 7lb, I think - but the Hipshot detuner I added to the spec took it over the top. Anyway, here are some pix. Enjoy!
