  1. That is such great craftsmanship and the grain is gorgeous.
  2. That's a beautiful piece of wood - well chosen! If I were you, I'd be getting very excited by the way this has started.
  3. Thanks. I will! I suppose it's a bit of a sad comment on the world - or perhaps just me! - that instead of just accepting it as good fortune, I was slightly suspicious I'd been sold a pup. It sounds great, anyway!
  4. I've just ordered a JJB Pbass Lite from Jon. It'll be the classic black, with a neck sort of nearer a J than a P at 40mm. I'm going to start a new thread when I get the first pictures but, in the meantime, I'm enjoying your early posts! Can't wait to see more.
  5. That's what I thought, just a rare event these days. If I can check prices on the Web, you'd think they'd be able to too!
  6. I wanted a small cab to go with my tiny Gallien-Krueger MB200 head. Of course, I would have liked a Barefaced or a Phil Jones but, funds being what they were, I eventually opted for an Ashdown OR-110. Some of the usual suspects had this for around £280 or so (e.g. PMT £285) and it's listed on the Ashdown site at £295, but I found it on Musik-Produktiv in Germany at £169, including VAT and customs charges. It arrived today and it's clearly the same product... or am I missing something? Any ideas?
  7. I have one of these and - so far - I've had none of the issues you mention. However, I bought it second-hand from @tom1946 of this parish, so if there were any problems on delivery from new, I guess he dealt with them! (thanks, Tom - still loving the bass!)
  8. The one thing I regret about going short scale was selling my Bongo 4H to fund the switch. These are fantastic instruments - way more versatile than most people imagine. This one's a beauty - GLWTS, I'm sure it won't be here too much longer.
  9. Mint condition Markbass 1 x 15" combo, never gigged. These have the classic Markbass warm, oomphy tone from a Little Mark 250 Black Line head, including the proprietory VPF (Variable Pre-shape Filter) and VLE (Vintage Loudspeaker Emulator) filters, in a fairly light (16 Kg) package, easily a one-handed lift. I'm only selling this because my "studio" space is tiny and I need the space, so I'm switching to something with a smaller footprint, probably a 1 x 10" to go with my GK MB200, not that this is by any means massive (H/W/D 46.4 x 47.5 x 48 cm). I also have some genuine and useful Markbass accessories, all of which are brand new and not included in the price. They are a never-used cover, which cost me €69; a tilt-back Velcro stand, incredibly strong - it can stand the additional weight of me pressing down on it firmly and helps push the air up and out (€27) and a Bass Keeper, to keep your instrument safe and close by (see pix - €14). That's about £80 in all - I'll include the lot for £50, otherwise we can negotiate individual prices. I could, I suppose, post it at your expense and insurance cost, but I'd much rather it was collected from Mapperley in Nottingham, where you can try it out with your bass or one of mine, and even partake of a cuppa.
  10. There are some really useful exercises in this book, which I've found invaluable: https://smile.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/1911267833/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_image?ie=UTF8&psc=1
  11. I noticed that Tim Commerford's new signature EBMM short-scale Stingray has ramp as standard. Wondered why - now I know!
  12. I'm not their fanboi, though I do seem to have posted positively in the past. But from a quick read yesterday, that's exactly what they're saying. Though I'm not sure my original choice of the Saturday is necessarily the best, given the proclaimed attendees for the various events have all changed since... what is it?... two years ago.
