  1. Extra bump - this shouldn't still be here.
  2. Looking at their latest newsletter, they're no longer saying the new website will be up and running by the end of January - I can't say I'm surprised, must be a helluva task to spell everything correctly!
  3. I've now found a suitable protective case for my Veyron- someone here mentioned Peli cases, and they certainly look fantastic, but also very expensive: more than the amp. I found this one on Amazon - £66 and you can literally "pluck" the foam out to fit round your cherished asset. There's also a pressure valve, which is designed to keep it waterproof (I'm not planning to test that feature!). Anyway, seems like a cost-effective solution, though there's no room in the size I chose for cables, etc.
  4. Well done, Richard! @Richard R : Brawley 4 and 5 string, EBS session 60 amp, cheap Aeon sustainer, cake @petecarlton: Shuker Nuclear Device Jean-Jacques Burnel Signature Lite P-bass, Mayones Cali 4 Triskelion travel bass, Bugera Veryron BV 1001M Mosfet head, Ashdown Studio 210 combo, bits and pieces - and cake
  5. Bargain for someone! GLWTS.
  6. I adore this - thank you so much for the tab. I agree with you that it's certainly one of the greatest walking bass lines (given the composer, why wouldn't it be?!) By the way, your "Buy me a coffee" link is dead - comes up with a 404.
  7. Mammoth task, but I'm sure loads of us will be very grateful for your efforts.
  8. Living the dream! 🙂
  9. I've been involved with a trade with Brian - combo for combo - and he has been charming throughout, even when we thought there might be a problem with the combo I passed on to him, which was quickly resolved. Brian has been straight with me throughout and I would have no hesitation in trading with, buying from or selling to him in the future. I can heartily recommend Brian to other BCers (if there are any left who haven't already dealt with him!).
  10. Brilliant purchase at that price! I played nearer full price for mine (it was in a trade with a fellow BCer), but I have to say I'm delighted with it. I've yet to take it out of the house, as I've had it only a couple of weeks, but we jammed with it at home yesterday and it was great - held its own against the alto sax at only 9 o'clock on the Master Volume and we were able to play two basses through it (one through the FX loop) with great definition and clarity. These really are lightweight, but oomphy, and really excellent in terms of their tone: just that classic Ashdown warmth without over-colouring what you're doing with your fingers. Not that I need it yet (or probably never!), but I wonder what might make a suitable extension cab, both in terms of appearance (i.e. not half the width and twice the height of the combo), utility (it must be lightweight) and quality of tone. Any ideas, anyone?
  11. What a gorgeous instrument! GLWTS.
  12. That has matured like a fine wine! GLWTS.
  13. You mean the even more worried men! That's a shame, though. See you next year!
  14. Is that a ghost bass?! 😉 GLWTS.
  15. Brilliant expression - I sooo know what you mean! Lovely bass - GLWTS.
  16. I do think that Adrian M has nailed the optimum balance between quality and price (not the only one, but among the best). If I could only manage 4 strings... (sigh). GLWTS.
  17. Can't believe this is still here. Maybe just got caught up in current cost of living/Christmas expenditure hole. Having just had a Shuker made for me, I'm not currently in the market, but GLWTS anyway.
  18. Well spotted! Though it's a slightly customised version, which Jon and I decided to call the "Nuclear Device", after the Stranglers' track of the same name - slightly narrower at the nut (more like a jazz width for my small hands). And yes, the awesome East pre-amp: so many tonal variations, I'm still exploring after three months of ownership!
  19. Gorgeous bass and superb upgrade. Shame you can only "like" here - I could happily have used a "love" button!
  20. If you can't trust it, that's that. So far, I've had zero issues, but I haven't yet fired it up in anger outside the house, so I'm quite prepared to return it if anything shows up. I guess that's why we piled in - the 180-day return option, which I'm even more grateful for, given your experience. Fingers crossed, one way or another...!
  21. Work in progress!
  22. If you know… you know. This is an incredible combination – certainly, as it turns out, too good for my modest needs – in mint condition (see pix) and aching to be gigged. During my limited time with it, it’s left the house about three or four times a month for band practice, rehearsals and improv nights, and I’ve barely touched the sides (as you can tell, by the pristine condition of the Tolex!). The combo is 300w without the extension cab and 500w with it (at 4Ω). What you get out is completely transparent – and the articulation is so clear, you hear the sound of your bass with little colouration: what you put in with fingers or pick (or, I guess, bow) is what you get out, and it really pushes through and stands out in a mix. One thing I found particularly useful is that the two channels allow you to plug in two basses at once and EQ each instrument to your separate tastes. I’m afraid I no longer have the original boxes, so I’d much prefer collection – shipping might be prohibitively expensive anyway, but nothing is impossible. I’m in Nottingham and prepared to meet anywhere within an hour’s drive from here. I’d prefer to sell the entire rig as one for £850, but might be prepared to split at £600 for the combo and £300 for the cab. It comes with a power lead, a Speakon cable (if you go for both the combo and the cab) and downloaded manuals, plus the somewhat skimpy “professional” slip-on black covers. I might be tempted by a trade (against the cab) for a Barefaced One10. Try me, anyway! I'm not in a great hurry to sell these, so if it's a matter of waiting until the end of next month for payment, that wouldn't be a problem; for a deposit, I'd simply mark it as "on hold" until you're ready to complete. I should say that I reserve the right to put this up on other sites, but the price here is at a discount for BC-ers.
