  1. Terrible commute.
  2. I always thought the 'chorusing' on Karen Carpenter's voice was just very tight double-tracking or ADT...was I mistaken ? Anyhow....any excuse to post this...beautiful singing. Joe Osbourn's bass is a joy as usual...and nice smooth creamy overdriven guitar too
  3. I had a pair of Creamery pickups in my Fender Jaguar guitar. Very nice indeed - lovely sound and very well-made. No first-hand experience of the bass pickups but Creamery are a respected name in the offset guitar world.
  4. Agreed, but Basschat's all about the pointing and the laughing isn't it ?
  5. Could be anything...maybe they just decided to keep the neck or sold it outside ebay. They could have been curious about how much the neck and body would fetch together....
  6. I did a couple of amazing gigs with an impromptu band a few years ago - I think there were 5 guitarists, a drummer and two bassists (me and our very own dannybuoy) A couple of fairly free-form jams before the gig, the best music chosen for the set and then we gigged. Noisy, chaotic and great fun
  7. I agree with the above - this is Ashdown's mistake and they should sort the speaker out in the combo.
  8. Well, obviously you'd not be skinning a cat that can read. Until it needs glasses...then you'd just need to make sure it kept its eyes peeled.
  9. Best way ! A quick chat, hearty handshake and the offer of a drink by way of thanks. I try not to touch any settings, even if I'm told I can - the minimal hassle for the owner when they take the stage later on is part of the thank you for the loan of the gear.
  10. Well said, and well played that man. This place is not the most welcoming place to new members sometimes...15 posts the chap has and the thread asking for advice gets turned into a bitchfest about gammar.
  11. Sharing gear ? You mentioned sharing gear on Basschat ? You'll be tarred and feathered and dumped outside the city gates at midnight.
  12. "Now, now...please calm down. That's right. Put your feet up on the couch. OK....you don't mind if I continue taking notes do you ? OK, that's good. Just try and relax. Now, carrying on from last session, you were saying your mother was from Dorset...."
  13. If you run out of butter, mash cheese and milk together to make a tasty dairy-based alternative.
  14. That's the way to play it, good for you.
  15. I'd agree with Deerbolt and martthebass - the two thinnest necks I know of are the Geddy Lee Jazz and the Sterling. I've just done a quick eye-and-grab comparison and I'd say the Sterling feels a touch skinnier.
  16. I doubt there's any malice behind the situation and you've not played in a while, so why not see it as a quick blast round the block to shake the dust off ?
  17. Agreed. When he was leaving wasn't the time for a chat - he was angry. Let the dust settle and get in touch.
  18. "Provenance", my library gland is whispering to me. Any ideas where this list springs from ?
  19. The vendor's promises ?
  20. Bought a Sansamp GT2 from Paul, arrived wonderfully packed and as fast as if delivered by winged monkey. Class act, many thanks.
  21. GIve it a try ! I guess it would depend on how the bypass is handled in the wah.
  22. Kat Bax is an old friend of mine. Excellent bassist and thoroughly nice as well. www.katbaxmusic.com/
  23. Just be careful not to mix up your car park assignations. I met a chap in a car park to buy a bass cab and ended up with £200 worth of hash. It's terrible - no low end, undefined mids and a harsh top end. (Also nice to know the bassdoc's still about)
  24. The very one, Ahpook the Destroyer indeed.
