  1. Mrs. Pook also had a good laugh and has asked me to point out that she's not available to hold anybody else's basses whilst they weigh her
  2. Very nice indeed !
  3. If you took the bass to pieces you could measure the volume of each one and then look up the density of them...hence their weight. But I suppose you may as well just weigh the pieces and add them up. Aha...another method then...dismantle the bass and weigh the parts on your kitchen scales !
  4. I like the way you think
  5. Sure beats my usual method of weighing my wife and then getting her to hold the bass and then weighing her again
  6. Feel the basschat love folks.
  7. I don't think there's anything wrong with the lyrics - as others have said it's a song made up of contrasts. But then I'm not the one who could possibly be offended, so I can only judge somewhat dispassionately.
  8. I used the cab sim on a EBS MicroBass II as the feed to the FOH for years and only got good reactions from the person doing the sound, both with and without overdrive. That's good enough for me. It's not an overbearing tonal change but it works. Everybody's gig is different tho - I'd say if you've not used one try one.
  9. Can you remove the current fan and check its spec ? A bit of sleuthing suggests that Hartke use 24v 0.15A brushless DC fans in a few of their amps, so the HA2500 should be the same. Then it's a matter of buying a noiseless one of similar spec - it might be worth talking to Hartke to see if you can get the flow rate of the current fan as it would be best to match it with the replacement. Hope that's of help
  10. If you've got a portable set-up then getting around on public transport is doable, and possibly more practical in London as where are you going to park when you get to the gig ? Let's face it - you see folks with double basses on the Tube...a bass and an amp is small fry in comparison !
  11. That's just silly.
  12. The red knob upset you....interesting Here, lie on this couch and tell me about your childhood
  13. That's why people who want to make money from busking play songs that people know.
  14. Turn it down or use headphones, it is, as many have said, only a week.

Finished the Pumpernickel this afternoon...it was an absolute pleasure to put together. It sounds great, really impressed...no noise, lovely sensible controls. Couldn't stop playing through it. Top marks again Schalltechnik, and I got stickers too Just need to decide whether to try the transfer logo or maybe something a bit more bare bones with some zinc primer and spray varnish, maybe get Mrs. Pook to label it as she has very neat writing and would top off the Christmas present nicely.
  18. Good for them, more power to their elbows.
