  1. Oh my God, ...it's a mirage ! I'm tellin' y'all, it's sabotage.
  2. Always good to tinker
  3. Happier than if you took all of them off ?
  4. Brilliant, although you can see why you'd need one....BS1125:1987: Specification for WC flushing cisterns (including dual flush cisterns and flush pipes), perhaps ? - it does include the specifications of the 'test equipment'. Makes you wonder how they decided what size and weight to use

    DIY Effects

Maybe this should go into the pedalboard thread, but as they're all from kits... Right to left, all Schalltechnik 04 kits VONG-Filterung Pumpernickel GUMA-Antique GUMA-Drive The finish went wrong on the Filterung a total of three times, so I ddn't redo it a 4th. It's....um....a distressed finish I'm quite fond on the 'prototype' look with flat colours and Sharpie legends. I can't speak highly enough of these kits, great boards and good components. The SMT stuff is a bit fiddly....especially tricky for me as I have pretty bad eyesight, but I managed it and I'm quietly chuffed about that. I've wanted a pedalboard of kit pedals for a while so I'm happy.
  6. The only way is Essex.
  7. To be honest, I struggle with some of the standards...anyone have the tab for BS ISO 25577:2013 ?
  8. You knows it.
  9. Aaaaah, I see...you're after the TwoTone bass sound.
  10. Two pots, one pickup ? That reminds me of something....what was it now.... Anyhow, I don't see why you couldn't wire up something suitable - just need to split the usual connection between the volume and tone and wire in a switch there.
  11. I'd be interested to know which tunes the BL thought were 'Standard'.
  12. Interesting...my bridge sits fine - the bridge doesn't touch the curved top at all....only a small clearance, a thin bit of card, but still a bit of space. Mind you - I think there are subtle differences between models. I have a Silverburst JC as well as the black one pictured and the control knobs are in different positions, so maybe the degree of arch can vary.
  13. It is a Supertone, yes. I prefer the sound as compared with the stock bridge, it's more adjustable, the string silk doesn't need paring back and it doesn't fall apart when you restring the bass like the stock bridge does. So, um....yes....I don't regret changing it Felt ? No....what's the rationale for the felt ?
  14. Glad the new strap worked out. I've found that making sure the strap passes over the front of the body eases the forearm abrasion, might be worth trying if you're not already. In case you're interested, attached is a photo of my cat's cradle that seems to offset some of the neck dive, although looking at it I realise it's not quite what I described as I missed out the loop of fishing line that passes under the bridge.
  15. That's great news Andy....how nice to be tempted out of 'retirement' by such a sweet offer.
  16. The one that makes you happy
  17. I've assumed that's more to do with the huge number of sessions she's played on, and a slightly failing memory, than an attempt to steal anyone's thunder.
  18. She's my favourite bass player, thanks for posting.
  19. My wife could play them and it wouldn't change my opinion of them. Not that she does....jesus, what an idea
  20. The only time to use bagpipes is when someone has suggested Northumbrian pipes and it's a matter of damage limitation.
  21. Good luck, and let is know how you get on.
  22. Flick and rotate, I think.
  23. Yes, that would be Maruszczyk.
  24. The approach would most likely be affected by what kind of band you're getting together - a big band doing covers with an MD might approach it differently to a smaller scale affair doing originals. What kind of band are you getting together ?
  25. You'd be hard-pressed to find a hollow-bodied bass that doesn't neck-dive, as the neck simply weighs a lot more that the hollow body, although Epiphone don't do themselves any favours with the traditional spade-as-headstock idea I hate neck diving basses with a passion - I only put up with the JC as it sounds so damn good !
