  1. That bass is tripping balls.
  2. Try not to stew about it if you can, but I think it's time for a serious discussion about how the band is going to work. If the guitarist is calling all the shots (or trying to !) and you're not happy with it then something has to happen. I'd try to canvas opinion from the other band members if you can - it's entirely possible that you're not the only one who feels this way, and see if you can all have a word with him. If the rest of the band works and it's just the guitarist who's the problem then he should be the one looking for a new band, not you. It's pointless just leaving without saying anything as far as I'm concerned, so think about what you'd like to say at the next rehearsal and see if anyone else feels the the same way and wants to raise it too. With some discussion and compromise you might be able to get things going in a sensible direction. I'll keep my fingers crossed for you.
  3. I think the first thing to do is to tell the guitarist you're going to use your own judgement from now on when it comes to how the bass sounds, and let them pull faces. If they can't live with it then it's time to consider options.
  4. Really ? Lucky you ! It's a beautiful bass. It's had a bit of work done to fix some chipping on the neck finish, but now it's in mighty fine fettle.
  5. That's great news, chuffed to hear it all went well.
  6. Good luck to him. No big fan, but he's getting to do what he enjoys doing and people still want to listen. Not a bad place to be I reckon.
  7. Good luck !
  8. You are not Cliff Richard. Remember this and do not try and imitate him.
  9. It's a trick - the vendor has the other string on sale, BIN £150.
  10. Oooh, that's rather nice. Thanks for the in-depth review discreet...I've always been tempted. You've given me GAS, you fiend !
  11. How else do you expect them to get married ?
  12. No idea, I think it has validity in some cases, but not all.
  13. It's odd... Economics....it's called the Pareto Principle
  14. One of Mrs. Pook's favourite albums.
  15. Turn up with a euphonium and mime with that.
  16. I'm holding out for the Blue Habour finish.
  17. Everybody's buying pre-owned stuff these days, nobody wants the second-hand kit.
  18. To me, it's a package...if I don't care for the music then I'll not spend much time listening to music I don't enjoy 'just for the bass'. I won't not listen to it - I've checked out albums by quite a number of highly regarded bass players that have been mentioned here (thanks folks), even though the music does little for me, just for my edukashun.
  19. Once, sort of...does running an very cheap amp far too hard for far too long count as 'failure' or 'wilful destruction' ?
  20. That's looking lovely.
  21. The power amp will see the 6ohm impedance at its output and deliver what it can into that load, so yes....it will deliver less than the full 1400W @4ohm that Bass Bunny quoted above.
  22. I'm not sure I understand your question....your speaker cabinet has an impedance of 6 ohms. Are you asking about power output for a given speaker impedance ? (Apologies if I'm being dense)
  23. I rather think I'm in the same boat !
  24. It's just struck me that Robert Plant sounds like an equipment hire company.
  25. Of the four, I'd get in contact with #3...maybe #2 and have a chat with them to see what they were after. Much rather do original music than covers, so #3 is the most interesting of those available. #1 is out...early metal (what's that ? Bronze Age ?) isn't my cup of tea at all. #4 is a non-starter as my harmonising isn't any good. Each to their own though...everybody wants different things from bands.
