1.
Last night I receive an email stating, "Mark, I received offers over £100, so I'm going to have to accept those, unless you can match it?" I declined. What happened to 'It's yours'? I could understand it if the listing had just said 'Offers' but I've never been in a situation where you're expected to offer a very nearest offer more than the asking price.
He's being a git. The mean thing to do would've been to offer him £110 and then keep him on the never-never as long as you can, then say you're not interested.
 2. How sad
 3.
The last time I looked into buying a suitable vehicle for gigging, I found I could get a year's worth of taxis to rehearsals and local gigs before I had covered the cost of buying and insuring said vehicle let alone the other running costs.
Exactly what I've always figured, and exactly as you've said said it depends on your circumstances and what type of band you're involved with. I've never had any problem not having access to a car, public transport and taxis have always done me fine.
 4. Very much a fan here. Search for the lost chord Children's children's children Mind-blowin' stuff.
 5. Nice work
 6.
The problems I hear with many originals bands is they're trying too hard to be original and many of them don't understand song structure.
Huzzah !
 7.
It reminds me of that quote from Jurassic Park, "Your scientists were so preoccupied with whether or not they could, they didn't stop to think if they should."
Or something you should see in a jar of formaldehyde.
 8.
Imagine if all the seminal 60s and 70s groups had been cover bands. " We're called The Who and we're going to be doing Chuck Berry numbers..."
No, that was the Beatles.
 9. Great little amp - I have a Baby Baby Blue II combo and it's got some lovely sounds. GLWTS
 10.
Yeah, i think my problem stems from "ok to book the room?" And getting the reply "yeah great stuff" fully knowing letting us down on the day meant we'd have to fork out for it. Not "sorry lads, been called in, do you want me to pay my bit?" Not how I'd act.
Me neither, and you've got every right to be well pissed off !
 11.
Yes, that would seem to be the explanation. However, it's not logical, considering they'll end up saying no in the end . *"*Asks himself...."since when were musicians considered logical ?"
Or people for that matter !
 12. Pick 5 friends/acquaintances and tell them you're getting some people together for 5-a-side/a curry/parakayaking/something-else-they'd-all want-to-be-in-on and would they be up for it. "Yes !" They chorus. Now try and get them to agree a date and then have them all turn up. I'm not saying musicians don't seem especially flaky, but it can be like herding cats even without music involved. Just a thought.
 13.
...we get almost 11 minutes of fairly disjointed rambling and swearing while he attempts to set up someone's Rickenbacker bass.
That's the bit I enjoyed the most I don't think his intention is a reasoned discussion of the bass, it's as much about 'Dave' as the bass, so if you don't enjoy his patter then you'll not enjoy the video. Each to their own of course. I know very little about Ricks, having played them so briefly that I'd hesitate to say I have an opinion of them, but Dave's video hasn't swayed me against them. It did make me laugh tho.
 14.
i've found this a lot, especially as i have got older, people seem to like the idea of it, but either don't really want the hassle or have so much going on they can't commit. i know this because i've been in the same situation, but normally im honest up front and say if im not into it. i certainly wouldnt leave it until the day then bail out.
Agreed. Sometimes folks want to say yes because they don't want to say no, rather than actually wanting or being able to.
 15.
Dave's Rickenbacker story here. https://www.youtube....h?v=z4ODN1c_6ik
Thanks
 16.
I learnt a lot of things parrot fashion when starting out and was happy with that.[...]The theory side of things came later when I was ready and I think thats the deal for anyone who enjoys it and sticks at it. Little bits fall into place.
I was in this camp - didn't learn any real theory for quite a while after I'd started learning music by ear - then all the things I had learned made more sense, in that I could understand why they were there.
 17.
Classic Dave! Have you watched his video where he describes his experience of gigging with one?
Have you a link ?
 18. I'd rarely sit down not knowing a song and learn it from a tutorial, I'll only do it to sort bits I can quite get myself. I feel working out as much as I can from the recording is part of my job, really.

This fellow is very good, I've learned a few bits from his videos. Good shot of the fretboard and the tab help you with the fiddly bits. I've never noticed any inaccuracies either, so this is a 5/5 for me. Some folks do put up videos more in the line of "here's me playing my bass to a tune I like", but what the hell - they're usually easy to root out early on and it's nice to see people having fun ( 1/5 for content, 5/5 for WTF not ? ) I've never really had trouble finding videos to help me, it can just take a bit of a hunt.
 19. Apples and oranges, all through the filter of history. Unfair on both Level 42 and 'modern pop bands' to my mind.
 20.
See my post above;
Doh ! My apologies and thanks for the info Topic followed with interest
 21.
Abandoned; they were a wash-out.
Arrrgh !
 22. A bath guitar shop ? How's their stock of soapbar pickups ?
 23. How much did the kit cost you altogether - import charges and all ? Pitbull do a few nice kits but I'd be worried about the overall cost. Lovely work on the neck btw - looks great
 24.

I'm not one of those people.
