1. I use one of these I'm not a fan of the digital amp sims I've heard and this is a simple, no-hassle solution. It may only have 3 'amp models' but it does a DI-ed guitar a lot more palatable to my ears. Works very well with overdrives and the like.

    SOLD

Things that go bump in the night.
  3. A set of EXL170s arrived today, straight onto the MM and soooo much better than the Status strings. I've stuck with Status strings for ages as I hoped they'd get their problems sorted out, but this may be the parting of the ways. Shame, especially as I'd just bought a job lot
  4.
Thank you...guess I'll just have to get a new bass when i'm ready to play that way.
Can you see the upside ?
  5. Sadly no, the spacing of the frets is determined by the scale length, so the frets would be in the wrong position. You could tune the open strings OK but it would all go a bit wrong when you started to fret. For instance, the 1st fret E string would no longer be F
  6.
I've owned three Geddy Lee J basses - two CIJ and one (my current one) MIM. They are all outstanding basses, with excellent build quality...
Couldn't agree more - my MIJ is the best jazz I've played and within a £500 budget second hand I think
  7. Anyone know anything about the loaded cabinet they sell ?
  8. Bought an EBS Multicomp from Chris - arrived superbly packaged and just as described. Great chap to deal with - many thanks !
  9. I stay playing in bands because now and again it all comes together and it's just wonderful.
  10.
Quick search of google for some images:
Yes, I saw those but still wasn't sure, mainly as I'm pretty bad at telling colours apart. If Fender use the same colours throughout their range then they must be D'addarios as they're not the same as a Fender set I have on another bass. Thanks for the help folks.
  11.
May be Fender 7250s. Those or D'Ad XLs.
Thanks - Any way of telling ?
  12. Excellent, thanks folks. I rather like them.
  13. ...a little help - a 4 string set that came on my MM Sterling. E- Gold A- Red D- Purple ? (or a very dark blue according to Mrs. Pook) G- Green They're 100-80-65-45. Any ideas would be very much appreciated.
  14.
Speak for yourself, sonny!
I think it's fair to say that Epiphone's reputation as a instrument maker was forged in the early years of the last century, if you remember that then I congratulate you on your longevity !
  15. It sounds rather nice - the DI level knob (?) our of the side of the unit looks a bit vulnerable, but I guess there are a lot of knobs to fit in !
  16.
I've looked at the Mexican Standards. They look nice, if a little plain, and are right on the amount of money I'd be wanting to spend.
So your budget is about....£500? Just to get an idea.
  17.
For you younger guys, back in the day Epi was not a second teir brand. It was a top brand name. Blue
"Younger guys" ? C'mon - Epiphone were making quality instruments before anyone on this forum was born.
  18. I've seen Sonic Youth many times - they really need to sort out their tuning

    SOLD

    A well-built and reliable bump.
  20. I'd want to hear Bob play, not give him a spelling test.
  21.
What colour crayon??
Tell you what - you can choose, I got a new set for my birthday. It's got the sharpener in the side of the box too
  22.
That's not cheap for what appears to be a standard gig bag. How comfortable are the straps? I might consider one of those when my Warwick one finally gives up.
I find it very comfortable, bit of a sail when you're cycling tho.
  23.
The only thing I need when I'm answering a bass player wanted is to like their music on their Bandcamp and/or iTunes pages. Everything else can be sorted out after I've joined the band.
Plus the one.
  24.
I suspect you can still get hanged for that kinda thinking round these parts.
But being a Fender kindof guy, I'd balance perfectly.
I don't want no one drawing on my new bass!
Oh, go on....I tell you what, I'll use crayon.
  25.
"Wanted, bass-player who knows how to hump the invisible bear."...?
Thanks, there are now bits of biscuit on my laptop screen...
