1.
Some time in the mid 80s there was a news article in one of the monthly musical instrument magazines about Simon Farmer and embryonic company Gus Guitars...
They are without doubt, stunning instruments. Lovely collection you have there.
 2.
The advantage is that they mute when you are unable too. For example playing quick riffs over several strings where your left hand cannot create a Barre/mute those string that are open
I can't imagine a situation where I couldn't mute, but that may be down to the techniques I use (or more pertinently, don't use !)
 3. Bought Neil's Musicman Sterling 'Onyx' bass - met in person at Kings Cross to do the handover as he was travelling down to London on business. Wonderful bass and he's an absolute star- kept in touch throughout the two weeks between us agreeing the sale and the meet up. Everything was exactly as described - couldn't be happier Have no hesitation in dealing with him, Neil's a credit to the forum.
 4.
As you can see, the bottom string is played but the middle string vibrates sympathetically...
Indeed, but what advantage do they offer over muting the unused strings with your hands ?
 5. Chickenhead control knobs on a stompbox ? Bad idea for us less able to ballet dance !
 6.
PMSL only just got that brilliant.
7. If you're not sure, I'd go for 'stun', then stick them in the brig.
 8.
There's no point asking us, the only person worth asking is the owner.
Absolutely, it matters not one whit what we think.
 9.
Are they woolly? Only joking!
Oh, you too baaaad.
 10. If you can get a sound you like with a different bass and the same rig, it suggests to me you don't actually get on with the sound of the stingray.
 11. A little more detail might help - how were you setting up the amp and bass EQs ?
 12. Seems odd you're expected to sell tickets - that sounds more like a charity raffle to me.
 13. Looks well f***ing futile
 14. Help, I don't have a favourite Deep Purple song....what should I do ?
 15.
but wondering why some think active basses are not as good as passive instruments.

It's just a matter of personal taste.
There, all done.
 16.
mostly originals but will do covers... fun to start, and if more ok (been the semi pro route before.... hard work!! lol)
As others have said, I'd be inclined to put up ads online - Gumtree, Join My Band are a couple I've used to good effect. You could try looking to see if any of your local rehearsal studios have a noticeboard you can put an advert on. If your locality has any community forums, then they can be worth a look, as can any music or musical instrument shops. Cast your net wide as wide as you can - rather too many responses than too few ! Good luck !
 17.
...people being "thinned skinned" is one thing; setting up a platform for trolling is another.
Here here
 18. It seems the older version had a MOSFET power amplifier...make of that what you will.
 19.
Any really as long as they are decent players (no beginners etc)
OK, originals or covers ? Pro or just for fun, or somewhere in between ? I'm just asking to help clarify what you're after.
 20.
Been trying for ages to find others to play with but no luck!! Where do other peeps here find others?
What kind of musicians/band are you looking for ?
 21.
I'm all in favour of a lower tone, we are bass players, after all.
Aaaah, but where does that kind of tone come from ?
 22. Sounds like an awful idea IMHO - even if it's confined to one forum, I'm pretty sure it would lower the tone of the place overall.
 23. What about Tony's Tone ?
 24. Great basses, but the neck dive is considerable. I played one for years in the 90s prior to selling it and got quite nostalgic for one a few years back, but then played one and realised why I'd sold it. They garner a lot of respect cos at the time they were very good instruments for the price - easy-to-use active circuit, well made. Some don't mind a neck-heavy bass, some do. Be sure you know which you are before buying one.
 25.
Thank goodness for that!!!!
Amen brother !
