1.
Give Up by The Postal Service - except for the last track which is rubbish and therefore I never listen to it (2003)
Excellent choice to become comfortably familiar with.
 2. Revolver - The Beatles. I swear I could hear the start of Taxman, go for a (whatever is is....) 35 min walk and come back in with some 'It is not dying"-s in sync with the end of the album
 3.
Sorry to be slightly off topic, it can you get left handed keyboards that run the other way? I can't recall ever seeing one but it would be so simple to do on an electronic one.
A "left-handed keyboard" sounds well dodgy, like slang for something or other.
 4. Hey, how cool is that ? I like the songs - listening whilst I'm catching up on some emails. Bass is on the money, well played that man
 5. I like the cream, it looks like a piece of confectionery
 6.
Tones in the plectrum.
Oh, you are toooo baaaad
 7. People will pay a lot of money for brands they feel they have an affinity for.
 8.
...tell me I'm not off my rocker...
You're not, they're an awesome band, nice to hear of a fellow fan
 9. That depends how much you liked my original joke.
 10.
Why do so many folks say 'avoid automatics'? I've had my first auto' for several years now, it's so relaxing to drive. The only downside is about 35mpg instead of 40mpg. In town traffic it's great.
Read the thread title again.
 11.
https://instagram.com/p/BO-CEVqh-Kw/ That's kinda close
I'd say that's more like a duck in the middle on an ontological crisis..... But that's still a cool noise.
 12. Noel Gallagher doesn't like Jazz music Bono won't go to the hop When marching bands come on the radio Johnny Marr pops to the shops Karen Carpenter detested the rumba Liberace wouldn't dance to no mod Captain Beefheart declares - "I really don't care for tunes that mention a God"
 13.
i love this song. i'm not a fan of pop music, but occasionally you get a song which just hits the right notes in terms of vibe, groove and mood. it's perfect pop.
That it is, I just grooved into the kitchen to put the kettle on. Deffo some kind of auto-wah/filter going on with the bass.
 14. Aux Chortles
 15.
I can hear a chorus effect, but is that all? Ta.
I think you're hearing a very Stingray sound, which can almost sound like two basses playing at the same time - the trebly 'click' and then more usual bassy sound. Have a listen to 'Kyoto Song' at 21.40 ....a similar bass sound maybe ? That's compression & chorus, maybe some flanger
 16.
Well the thread reads, "How do I get this tone" I wasn't sure why chorus and compression were mentioned as they don't give anyone tone. Blue
Yes, that's what you said earlier.
 17.

We have a winner !
 18. Good luck...and for the first get-together, having fun is the priority.
 19. I'd avoid automatics.
 20.
Chorus is an effect, compression is processing. Neither are tone. Blue
Ok,I didn't mention tone, nor say anything about whether compression and chorus are effects or processing. Not sure what you're getting at....did you mean to reply to the OP ?
 21.
This. Jamie was one of my main influences in my early bass playing days.
Simon Gallup for me....similar sound and set-up.
 22. Make it sound like a bunny in a bear trap.
 23. Sounds like compression and chorus to me. Goth bass, right there
 24.
I think we are on the same page. 'Oh Lord, please don't let me be misunderstood' Now that's a good tune.
I suggest we both go and listen to some jazz -just for ourselves.
 25.
Yes, noise that a lot of people assume is jazz, probably including Noel
I reckon folks know more about jazz than you give them credit for - think of, I dunno...Dave Brubeck, Louis Armstrong, Ella Fitzgerald, Duke Ellington...take your pick - I'd say there are plenty of well-known jazz musicians to ensure that folks just don't think of free improv/noise when they think of jazz. Sure it's a caricature - people making 'tuneless' jazz, but so is endless guitar solos by tattooed guitarists with goaties, and not all heavy metal is like that. So I'm told
