  1. Past hour
  2. Yeah, it’s odd. The DB10 might just be a regional or renamed version of the TB10. Takamine probably phased one out quietly without updating the site.
  3. My band 'Shreds.' is heading across the channel for the first time this weekend, to play 3 shows in Belgium. Should be fun!
  4. Hmmmm…..these intrigue me…..will check the piggy bank
  5. Thanks pete...
  6. That reminds me of a keyboardist I once played with who, with a dead serious look on his face, suggested we use the band name "Crusty Seamen"
  7. There is a way around the default Simple Delivery option - I give my For Sale items extra large size and weight dimensions and it allows me to select an 'Other Courier 3-5 days' option. That way you can set your own delivery cost and arrange your own courier, just like the old way.
  8. Hi If anybody is interested in 3d printing, Amazon has an offer on eSun PLA+ Fire Engine red. It's only available for Prime members and only in red and is £20 for four 1Kg rolls. Normally price is between £13-£15 per 1Kg roll. I've ordered a lot as I do a lot of printing. If anybody wants any rolls and are not members of Amazon Prime (or even Amazon), I'm happy to order more and I'll bring the rolls down this weekend. You pay around £5 a roll which is dirt cheap. PM if interested. Rob
  9. I know! But look it up. Any photo you find of a Bronco has this exact shape. It's infuriating 😆 Happy I sorted mine, though.
  10. Cabs wired backwards will indeed fart out trying to get any bass out of them.
  11. Given the voltages at most could be 9-18v if an active circuit was used, what would your safety concerns be based on? Interference could be managed. However it would be possible to ground a metal live rail prematurely if its touched. The problem could be designed out with judicious shielding...and thats why I referred to drawing inspiration rather than simply using. For example, assuming acceptable tolerances are achievable, the same rails could be fabricated in carbon fibre or printed plastic and the ribbon contacts run inside the tracks in each rail.
  12. To be fair to Ebay, they have no choice in that. Once you sell more than £1740 Ebay is obliged to notify HMRC under UK digital sales legislation. You're required to pay tax on anything you earn over £1000 p/a. Might be an idea to fill in a self-assessment form if you're in this position, to stave off any unwanted interest from HMRC.
  13. thanks! A bit wibbly at times but it gets the bass’s punch and heft across. The pickups have a very interesting sound. Big lows and mids along with a high output. It’s a great sounding bass.
  14. I was using exactly the same one until my brother kindly 3D printed the 'unofficial' bespoke stand for me. The laptop one works well though, and has a handy place to hang your headphones!
  15. TimR

    Rush.

I saw them in Birmingham on the Clockwork Angels tour. They were brilliant. I also saw Iron Maiden this Summer in London with their new drummer. It was live music, their new drummer lost time and dropped beats and all three guitarists were making mistakes all over the place, Bruce's voice is a little bit tired but the show was awesome.
  16. Only slight correction is the two biggest and best bass-only stores to my knowledge are Bass Direct and The Bass Gallery in London. And that's no disrespect to BassBros 😊 ps. BassBros also sell guitars.
  17. They never replied to an email I sent them, which could have ended in a sale. I went elsewhere.
  18. Well, this is a bit embarrassing, but when I went to remove the Kappa's from the cabs I noticed one of them was wired backwards from the other (by me, doh), so between that and the cabs, I'm not surprised it didn't sound so great. I did use a Tech 21 Q-Strip pedal with a set 45Hz HPF, or an Alembic SF-2 Superfilter, but with the speakers being out of phase, was probably a bit moot. I may have customs cabs made to specs mentioned by Bill here, or maybe go another speaker/cab route entirely. I tend to play hollow body basses like the Epiphone Jack Casady, Gibson EB-2, and Guild Starfire, fairly aggressively (and loudly) and go for the ' big-and-heavy-but-transparent' 60s/70s classic rock sound - that's why I like the JBL K140s, but hauling 4 of them (150w rms each for 600w rms total) gets a bit tiring and takes up a lot of space, so I'm looking at more modern lightweight high-powered, but still having something of an 'old school' sound, alternatives. There's an Accugroove 'El Whappo' 15/12/6 cab for sale near me that caught my attention. I hear they handle lows very well and are plenty loud. Bergantino also sounds good but are way pricey brand new. I tried an Orange OBC115 and was totally underwhelmed with it. People have mentioned the 3015 is a good replacement for the stock speaker in those cabs, but they ain't cheap, either.
  19. Today
  20. Indeed Will did use to work at Bass Direct. And the comment about replying to mails is spot on.
  21. Another thing I have had with eBay recently, having sold quite a bit of gear these past few months with a rig rebuild, is they now want my National Insurance details as I've hit their threshold. Apparently if you sell more than £1,700 annually they will now ask for this
  22. That makes sense, thanks for the replies
  23. Dave bought a pedal from me in a super-easy transaction. Hope it does what you want!
  24. If you glue it yourself, get a little rubber suction cup (like those ones to stick a stuffed Garfield to your car window) and go "schluck schluck schluck" up and down the glue line - this helps to suck the glue deeper in. Get plenty of glue in there, wipe off any excess then wrap an old bike inner tube around the neck as tight as you can get it to act as a clamp (use a zip-tie or a big spring clamp to hold the loose end).
