  2. If you've already got good audio recorded, i would get a videographer along to your next gig which you know will be busy and has a good looking stage. It might cost £150 or so, but they will e able to put a 40-60 second montage together, making the gig look fun and energetic. GGet a bit of the crowd in singing along, instantly makes it look like a quality night. a video IMO, this is exactly what you want from a showreel. lots of energy, interesting camera angles, quick cuts and zooms. Crowd dancing and singing along. Also, important to have a vertical version too, as so much social media is consumed vertically these days. This is my bands version for an upcoming gig, in the similiar vein, a bit less punk. https://www.instagram.com/p/DRZ7sdzlK7V/
  3. Any chance of a picture of the bass? I can probably guess what Harley Benton it is, but always easier to pass comment if people know which bass it is.
  4. Gravy Train - Mark Knopfler
  5. Amazing weight for a ‘78! Perfect gigging machine!
  6. And here's a short demo vid for this amp - one of the best I've ever seen for any amp head! EBS 360 HD demo
  7. Hi Monad, Is this still for sale? Cheers, John (Oneandfive)
  8. 👍
  9. I can't imagine Paul McCartney would want to be spending his time & money trying to save a failing business at this point in his life.
  10. Some decent live footage, doesn't have to be too professional, can be very helpful for getting your first booking at a new pub venue. If you want to be getting function gigs then a showreel is pretty much all that someone who has never come across the band has to go on, so having something that is decent quality both visually and sound-wise will make a difference - there's a lot of competition for function work! Doesn't have to be long, 2 - 3 mins is fine. Check out some of the bands on e.g. Alive Network and you'll get a feel for the quality of the showreel clips function bands are posting. We're just in the process of redoing our 2023 band reel to reflect the current 2025 band line up. We've managed to develop quite a lot of the skill set to get it done in house, which massively reduced the costs, and have decent camera and recording equipment so our main cost has been venue hire. Otherwise you can quite quickly end up spending £1k+ on a reel when you've taken account of venue hire, videographer and someone to do the sound mixing and editing. The flip side is that a function band can recover that outlay in a couple of events or even a single booking. There's a couple of ways reels are typically done: - Live take in a studio - Get the audio recorded separately and mime to audio for the video They both have different plusses and minuses.
  11. The extremely talented Brian Auger.
  12. Grits And Gravy — — The Fame Gang
  13. Not the usual way to add content to this post, but as I was testing out a £3 bargain from a local record store I thought I’d do it this way instead of posting the most obvious track 🤣 My Movie 2-540p30.mov
  14. Bought a Mooer Radar pedal from Nik. As new condition and bubble wrapped like baby Jesus in his manger. Nice Xmas pressie for myself -- Thanks Nik much appreciated.
  15. This is ours... I couldn't say if it has brought any new bookings but it definitely can't have lost us any. The audio is from a different gig and the video from one of the larger festivals we do. Before this we have quite a few videos that have spliced together mobile phone videos from different angles and then original audio too. The guitarist makes those somehow on an Apple PC. Feel free to follow the band page and book us for any gigs in 2026. https://www.instagram.com/reel/CvKAESgOpYH/?igsh=MjFrYmE1eXlxYTBk And here's a version made for phone screens: https://www.instagram.com/reel/CvdGYWFAxXV/?igsh=MWJvc3hteGh3b2xqcA==
  16. I'll leave this to the fretless communities, just to say there us a lot of love for Harley B on here, and i have a few... what model? Slacken and re-tighten the neck screws in not thru neck, witness points (press the string down at saddle and nut. New Strings. Are you going for flats? The Adagio Flats (Adv Music on the bay) are a great place to start for the £. Son has a Vintage VF? Fretless and a cheapy Gear for Music Acoustic, always nice to hear.
  17. I recently bought a Harley Benton fretless bass, it was only a cheap one around £150. Im not expert and it is only my second bass so I do not have much to compare it to. However I think it sounds tinny and hollow when I press the string against the neck, like the neck is not solid. When I play notes the sound is kind of echoey (if thats a word). Comparing it to my Squier Affinity, which isn't an expensive bass, it is not nice or deep sounding? How can I make this sound better? Would changing strings help, or a better pick up? What pick ups would be best?

  19. Please could someone tell me where I can get a manual for the Silverado Special. I just bought one last weekend!
  20. Let's hope your plan works out for next winter, have you been to Banff before?
  21. So assume this is a no, I'm not going to help 😅 https://www.facebook.com/share/p/17qsDtrm3N/
  22. Virtually new Fender Bassman 100 cover from Roqsolid, i got it to use while my flightcase was being manufactured so was only used briefly. Its a little dusty but will wipe. They're about £65 new + shipping Cover is in Hope Valley, happy to post within UK, probably gonna cost a tenner just for how small it doesn't fold up.
  23. I can't remember where I heard it, but after the "Get Back" movie, Hofner sold 2 or 3 times more McCartney basses than the year before.
  24. Breakfast in America - Supertramp
  25. The Breakfast Line - Cardiacs
  26. That's a very nice example of a rare bass, and I would say a very good price. Fwiw there are MIJ Washburn & Daion/Yamaki - specific FB groups where there might be significant interest in something like this. GLWTS!
  27. Steeleye span, last night at the Apex in Bury st Edmunds. Numbers from the latest album except a couple of obvious ones. Seriously good level of musicianship with a few numbers really venturing into Prog-Rock territory. Not sure I heard one bar of music with 4 or 8 beats in it😆. Some very complicated structures going on. Maddy Prior is now 78 but doesn't sound any different from 50 years ago and the five part harmonies were perfect and excellent bass playing from Roger Carey. All in all, a very good gig.
