  2. Pass the kleenex.
  3. thing is they are all inconsistent enough I think I'ld be tempted to play them. If I were looking I remember liking the old AVRI stuff... but not so much whenever it was the '62ri turned into a '63ri - but that's one opinion based on a limited sample size of half a dozen basses. Japanese are good as I think they are more consistent. One of the best Fender P basses I tried was Mexican ... but others have been dogs. If I were in the market and had the budget I'ld be driving to try this and see if it justified it, just cos it looks cool.
  4. This is generally true. If you need to move a cable and insert/remove it often, you need quality connectors. For patch cable the connectors and cable is less important.
  5. Ive just found a TCE Mojomojo in my wardrobe. Forgot I had that. Another cheap option.
  6. That would be an ecumenical matter

    Valeton GP-5

Has anyone got decent synth sounds out of their GP-5?
  10. dont the Vintage Fenders have a clear coat sealer on them prior to painting, I had a Mocha brown one that I took the paint off with nail polish remover...

  13. Thanks Paul. That's what I was hoping. I've just put it away but will take a pick in the morning. Just had a look. Lots of wires as PJ with 3 band active EQ with passive volume and tone with an active/passive switch and 3 way pickup selector.
  14. That's a strange one Lozz. I've been using the same Whirlwind instrument cable since the late 80's and the sound has always been fine. Maybe something was wrong with the cable?
  15. Not tried the Future Impact yet? It does these sounds with ease. 16. I was a big fan of my KZ ZX10s until I took a long break from them and I don't like them at all now. On a whim I bought these budget earbuds: QKZ ZXT. I'm pretty blown away for the price and as a single driver unit. The same foam tips that fit the KZ stuff for these. The highs aren't harsh, they still have replaceable cables, and they're under a tenner. They're not flat response, but they sound musical. I'd wager they'd be a good backup set of IEMs. https://a.aliexpress.com/_EvHNp8K
  17. Simple-ish... Got a pic of the inside the control cavity? 2 Position Switch, Couple of Quid...
  18. I've just managed to bugger my yamaha bb110d that has been my go to bass for over 30 years. I've somehow snapped off the active/passive switch and am now getting no sound. Does anyone know if this is an easy enought fix or can recommend someone good with electrics/preamps in the Bristol area. Thanks
  19. I am the happy new owner of Kev's Trondheim overdrive pedal, and very lovely it is too! Top bloke to deal with, the pedal was just as described and arrived the next day.
  20. It would be great to have a Bass Bash in Louth, especially with the local scene moving quite a bit. Personally, I think that a weekend around jazz / blues would really attract people.
  21. The Neuser NFS is based on the same principle indeed, but whith a very slightly concave metallic sitar type saddle and a mechanical system allowing it to be put in place. I fitted a few on customers basses when they were released in the late 90's early 2000's (yes, I used to be a luthier at some time in my life). You have to be very picky when it comes to the set-up, locking all screws when the desired tone was obtained and lubricating the moving parts to allow the bridge to function properly each and every time.
  22. Burning up time. Stranglers
  23. Finally mine should arrive Thursday
  24. You’re all approaching this from the wrong side - fill in the bit on the pedalboard “p”! You’re welcome 🤣
  25. If the clearcoat is spirit based, is there a risk that the sharpie line will bleed? David
  26. Thanks all!
  27. Marketing plays a huge part in the cost of designer fans. Generally it’s more than the fan that’s responsible for the noise generated.
