Lovely to meet you yesterday mate & thanks for the coffee Membury was an easy run for me, as I teach on Thursdays and Fridays in Malmesbury, Wiltshire near the M4. Typically, the run to Rotherham from Derbyshire on Tuesday evening was not an easy one, as an accident had closed the M1, but hey-ho, the mission was accomplished and that's all that matters! It really is the very nicest blue, isn't it? Hope you can get it sorted relatively easily - having seen the lovely home/music room where it was previously located, I'd say that it has probably spent the last few years hung on a wall, which can occasionally cause neck issues, but they're usually sortable as you say. Hope you enjoy "None More Blue"!

They do line up quite neatly so they don't look out of place. -

Unpopular opinion incoming π For the price range suggested I'd wait for one of the rather snappily titled Jackson X Series Concert Bass CBXNT DX V's to become available. There's one in white on Reverb but it's in the US, so you'd have to pay loads more in import fees and tax and duty and tariff and it just wouldn't be worth it, but I've wanted one of these basses for a long time. They were heavily discounted at some point in the past but I just missed that. I still keep a vague lookout for them at decent prices, but I've not seen any. Mark

Regardless of the grooviness of it, it is jolly pretty. Now all you need are brushed stainless steel knobs and tuners to match...

And me! <TEN!>

Silky999 started following Anyone able to do PUP routs for me?

@Beedster, give me a message with what you youβre looking for and whether they are pre-finished or finished bodies. Finished bodies can be an absolute nightmare with new routing as they can chip and lift finish.

Agreed. It's the classiest BBOT I've ever seen.

It is slightly ridiculous π I wonder whether it might end up being a middle ground brand so Sterling by MusicMan, MusicMan Session, and then MusicMan US.

Might be worth asking in Build Diaries ?

This recording is something by a friend who is active on the UK Jazz Scene especially around London and East Anglia. The 2016 album is called 'Dudley' by the Chris Ingham Quartet and features the Rev. Andrew Brown on bass - it's not a nickname; he actually IS a Reverend. Great fun and I thought I would give the guys a push on here. Chris has also recorded tributes to Stan Getz and to Walter Becker/Donald Fagan. There is a link on the website if you want to find out more. https://bilbosbassbites.co.uk/waterloo-chris-ingham-quartet/

Brian bought some strings from me and as expected from such a great gentleman, everything was spot on as usual. Thank you!

Re-asking this question...I thought it was a no-no putting a valve pre-amp in front another valve pre-amp....any views out there? I was watching/listening to a vid of a Noble put in front of a B15 with a 63 Precision, which sounded sweet!

I've settled on Elixir nickels at Β£50 a set but i get approx a year before i notice them start to fade. Dave

Maude started following Reverse P pickup configuration
-
Left, BB1024x (standard P). Right, BB424x (reverse P) Couldn't compare the two due to different pickups, strings and bridge, but the 424's G string definitely sounded more meaty after the conversion. I quite often feel a P bass's G string sounds a little thin (it's probably just me) and I definitely think a reverse P sorts this out (for me). The 1024 has gone, I still have the 424.

Had a VERY close call today. Went to A-Strings to buy a strap button (essential repair) and a set of strings (consumables). Took my brothers... Played two really nice basses, either of which I would have been happy to bring home, an Epiphone EB3 and a Squier Classic Vibe Bass VI. The latter was set up really well and was actually a delight to play, especially fingerpicked like an acoustic guitar. The EB3 needed some work on the nut and action, and the neck pickup was weak (it could be raised) - but the mudbucker didn't sound muddy, just rich and lots of girth π So with one brother determined to get me to buy one and the other not exactly trying to dissuade me, I thought hard about this thread and a rather obvious timber join on the Bass VI.
