Probably his real name i would gather, being Welsh and all. But who wants to be a Slash or an Edge when you can be called that. Don’t forget (John) Burke Shelley! I remember the gig they did at the Lyceum ( heaviest night of the year tour or something like that ) . We did have a chuckle when he was introduced 🙂 1 Quote
RAY AGAINST THE MACHINE Posted Monday at 15:15 Posted Monday at 15:15 Myself and guitarist/ teacher were gonna form a band , the hamsters of death . We would have been Ray Bid and Bloa Ted . Life got in the way unfortunately. Stage names I have considered in the past ; Philip Eno , Wayne Kossoff ( free tribute band?) and Phyllis Glass . They didn’t materialise either 🙂 Quote
Steve Browning Posted Monday at 15:18 Posted Monday at 15:18 I saw a poster at a gig for a chap going under the name Rodge Adultery. 1 5 Quote
StickyDBRmf Posted Tuesday at 21:49 Posted Tuesday at 21:49 We were going through an identity crisis, writing new material and throwing out, and playing the same venue every weekend we started changing the name of the band every week. By Week 4 we were The Normal Spoons I took it upon myself to rename everyone also. Guitarist James - Sam Fingerhead Keyboardist Robert - Guadalupe Machino Drummer Tom - Fidolfo Cruz Bassist Marty - Eli Tokyo It was a local crowd, everyone was in on the joke. 3 Quote
Thor Posted Tuesday at 22:26 Posted Tuesday at 22:26 (edited) I used to be in a band with a guitarist called Rory Lyons & a drummer name of Luke Warmbathe - my name was dull by comparison so I was known as Willy Stroker🙄 Edited Tuesday at 22:28 by Thor Sausage fingers 2 Quote

joeystrange Posted Wednesday at 15:07 Posted Wednesday at 15:07 Yes for two reasons: 1. My name is fairly boring 2. I decided a long time ago that it’s probably not a good idea to have your name on the internet where possible 2 Quote
dudewheresmybass Posted Wednesday at 16:50 Posted Wednesday at 16:50 I use Rex Thunderbolt for mine, as my 'normal name' is a bit.. you know.. lol I am listed with PRS and associated entities as Rex and Chris, to cover each identity. It has also been handy to deal with some of my natural shyness when on stage, as I feel more able to 'perform' better as Rex, as well as being able to separate my work and personal lives. I have numbers of people that know me as either, but few as both 1 Quote
NancyJohnson Posted 5 hours ago Posted 5 hours ago At our guitarist's suggestion, in an early iteration of Nancy Johnson, we decided to drop our surnames and go with our first and middle names. From his perspective, Pete James sounded so much more rock'n'roll than Peter Williams. Quote

Somebody please tell me the band was originally called Big John Thomas and the Budgie Smugglers but was shortened so that the name would only take up one line on the label of a 45. Quote
