ossyrocks Posted July 4 Posted July 4 I'm just chuffed for my friend Christian Madden who's playing keys. I've known him for nearly 30 years and we've done countless gigs together in numerous guises, from when he was just a lad. He's the most down to earth and honest Lancashire bloke you would ever wish to meet. I'm very proud of him tonight. Rob 9 Quote

Not knocking him by the way, I like Oasis and Noel`s solo stuff but sod paying that kind of money to see any band. Quote

Thrilled he's getting what I hope is a good payday here. 2 Quote

hiram.k.hackenbacker Posted July 5 Posted July 5 I've only seen bits on You Tube, but it's a good set. It will be interesting to see what changes (if any) take place over the dates of the tour. 1 Quote

ian61 Posted July 5 Posted July 5 (edited) The radio this morning seemed to suggest they opened with Gary Glitters brilliant 'Good To Be Back'? Odd, seeing how opinionated they are. Edited July 5 by ian61 Quote
Doctor J Posted July 5 Posted July 5 The song is called Hello, it's the first song on their second album, and briefly pulls a line from the Glitter song. Quote
Supernaut Posted July 5 Posted July 5 Oasis come out in support of Gary Glitter! Shocker! Why do conspiracy nuts rule the web nowadays? Get back to the pub corner where you belong. 👍🏻 Quote
ian61 Posted July 5 Posted July 5 God knows what I heard then cause the clip defo sounded like a live band on a big stage singing the GG tune and it sounded nothing like Hello. More radio trickery it seems. Quote
PaulWarning Posted July 5 Posted July 5 (edited) I see there's a predictable storm about Gary Glitter getting a royalty payment for Hello, but it does seem the obvious song to start with, but as Glitter is bankrupt maybe his victims (creditors) will get it? edit, anyway he's still in jail so won't do him much good, Mike Leander will be pleased though Edited July 5 by PaulWarning 1 Quote
tonybassplayer Posted July 5 Posted July 5 Well I think it’s fair to say the doubters were wrong and that that audience absolutely loved it. Just my humble opinion but in the mid nineties they made playing guitars cool again and I’m grateful for that as I bought their first two albums, bought a nice fender strat with a work bonus and started playing again which led me to taking up bass again and playing live in several bands which had always been an ambition. They are making a lot of people happy at this moment when the rest of the world is a bit of a sh*t show PS My 23 year old daughter and boyfriend have tickets for London. She wasn’t even born during their heyday. 6 Quote

But he transferred outright ownership of his music when he sold the rights in 1997. 3 Quote

They could have come out and farted three blind mice to rapturous applause but both the Noel and Liam bands are, at bare minimum, stadium-level outfits and these are songs they've been playing for decades so I'm not surprised they sound great. I'd probably manage to do some vocal warm-ups with 50m on the table too. Quote
AndyTravis Posted July 5 Posted July 5 (edited) Everything I’ve seen suggests a fairly polished performance with good amounts of energy etc, Nice to see Bonehead bashing out the Barre chords. Shame I didn’t get tickets, but will be listening intently on Saturday next week as Heaton Park is about a mile from my house… Edited July 5 by AndyTravis 3 Quote
Lozz196 Posted July 6 Posted July 6 Any clues yet to what basses Andy Bell is playing on these gigs? Quote
Russ Posted July 6 Posted July 6 21 minutes ago, Lozz196 said: Any clues yet to what basses Andy Bell is playing on these gigs? He used to be fond of old Burns and Eko basses, as well as sometimes playing a Fender P. From the limited number of non-Liam-and-Noel pics I've seen of the Cardiff show, he was playing his black Burns Bison. 1 Quote
