UK Based Effects Companies...?

Recommended Posts

In my ever continuing effects journey, I often try and seek out UK based pedal builders - 'boutique' type or however else you want to classify it - but small businesses turning out great products - innovative, or standard.

Whenever I've been looking at pedals recently, I end up in the U.S. with the likes of Damnation Audio, Black Arts Toneworks etc. with associated import costs, it just gets excessively expensive to buy.

I haven't found a consolidated list anywhere of established/ good builders in the UK and wondered if it would be something that was useful to combine the 'hive mind' as companies come in and out of play. Other than Cog and DHA, both now non operational at present, I'd really struggle to name any but would like to browse the 'UK pedal market' in a bit of an easier manner than wading through search engines.

Just a thought - not sure if anyone else would find it useful or even if there are that many out there?

I like North Effects ethic; plain and simple, good quality builds of classic designs. The no-frills approach keeps the price down, and the ones I have sound great.

They aren't currently building either, but the site is here: http://north-effects.co.uk

I have a Jasmine Boost from Faceless FX, though they tend to focus on (Tonebender based?) fuzzes. Can only find a FB link.

Raygun FX have a pretty good pedal selection at affordable prices - I have (had?) a Sodadrive, it sounds fine https://fuzzboxes.co.uk/

Vein-Tap pedals - I use their switches, but they have a bunch of effects too https://www.vein-tap.com/

Hudson, Thorpy and DHA were the only others that sprang to mind...

Just adding to this list, there's Five cats pedals I stumbled across a couple of weeks ago.

They did me a re-enclosure for my Dunwich wizard fuzz which has turned out brilliantly and a really nice guy

My friend has just started his own pedal company. He's only got one pedal so far, but lots of interesting things in the pipeline. We're continually planning and discussing the ultimate bass overdrive, so hopefully that won't be too far away either!
