Andy Fraser’s solo on Mr Big from the Free Live album; not technically difficult, but superb build and note choice.

Robert Palmer's cover of "Early in the Morning". The bass is amazing all the way through the song, then there's this blistering solo that comes from nowhere! It's around 3:20.

And this guy does a great job of breaking it all down.

Ooh yeah, Iā€˜d forgotten about that. I used to listen to that album all the time. What a crackinā€˜ solo.

Glenn Cornick's solo on Bouree is great. Very tasteful, with some interesting chordal work. Glenn knew his stuff.

Excellent suggestion... I think I'll go and listen to it right now.

All American Alien Boy by Ian Hunter, maybe 60 seconds in.

That's the young and unknown Jaco Pastorius more-or-less announcing his arrival.

I bloody hate everything about Jaco and his music, except that solo.

Jaco - 'Havona' on 'Heavy Weather' (see parallel Fretless album thread)

Chris Squire - 'Does It Really Happen?' on 'Drama'

Jimmy Johnson - 'Pud Wud' on Allan Holdsworth's 'Sand'

Still very fond of Stanley Clarke - 'School Days'.

More recently, virtually anything by Hadrien Feraud.

I like all the usual (and unusual) Bass solos from over the decades; Jaco, Patitucci and the rest of them etc. Slow/fast there is usually something to keep me interested. Just too many to listĀ really.

I can think of any solos off the top of my head šŸ˜•

I presume you meant 'can't' but still you post that? Do you commentate on all your thoughts?

Go over to the 'favorite fretless albums' forum and post your fretted favourites...
