I've been using rotos for a lot of years now ( got to be 20+ by now!), and have never had a duff string from them. I've tried pretty much all of the major players, but they don't have the gritty sound I love when they're fresh. Their customer service is pretty good, and would, I imagine, be very eager to right an issue which reflects negatively on their brand.

I have one. I bought it at the bass show in March. The input control is very sensitive. From what I can ascertain, it is a common thing. The output is v loud, but it sounds amazingly cool.

I've played in a fair few venues where, when playing even a p bass, I've had to stand against my rig to allow access to the gents! Played at the standard too! That sofa was appalling! We refused to even use the backstage area (such as it was!)
