  1. Hi. Last week I scored a nice, fairly recent AP2 PJ IGB passive bass for a silly price via the dreaded ebay. However, I'm left wondering if I can 'tame' the mids a little. Would a pup ugrade be the better solution, or am i left having to use an eq pedal? Would you suggest? Cheers
  2. Be aware that the earlier sh model p ( blue sparkle/ jap made) does not have the spb4 Harris sig pup. I love my blue Harris, but mainly because I don't want the logo on it. I wouldn't go so far as to say I detest football, but you get the point! Lol the neck is big in the hand, but feels supremely comfortable. If having a good palmful of wood matron, then go for the Harris
  3. Ive spent years 'accumulating' active basses. Over the years, these are the instruments that get the least use. I find most often, as with the op, that they get quickly lost in the mix. So much so, that the only time I use one particular active instrument is to play unplugged. I will only use passive instruments now as they sit beautifully in a live mix and have all the right heft in all the right places.
  4. Really easy dealings with Paul. He dealt with my payment foibles with great aplomb cheers!
  5. Hello mate. Is this an active model?
  6. Is there not an emulation on the ehx 9 series pedals?

  8. Whereabouts are you based ?
  9. Sharay is always inspirational. A real beast of a player
  10. The initial ep from a few years back was pretty good. im looking forward to hearing a complete album. last time I saw frank, he was particularly chuffed that I asked how the album was progressing.
  11. I've been using the Boss fv500h for many years as both a volume and an expression pedal with both active and passive instruments. Solid as you like, and the feel is adjustable I've also had no issues with reliability or tone suck at all
  12. Just wanted to add that my bc rich ironbird fits into these cases. Glwts
  13. Mxr micro boost mooer pure boost both true clean boosts. Ive also used the lpb1 which adds something in the low mids. Not that it's a problem, but to my mind it makes it not a clean boost imo

  15. My bc rich mockingbird has the twin p pups. I love it 🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘
  16. I quite enjoyed the embassy a student brought in a little while back. Played well, sounded beefy, and was a comfortable weight. didn't have any of the issues you mentioned though
  17. i use one bass for the standard stuff, and another for the e flat stuff. Not too much of an issue changing mid set.
  18. as Mcnach says, there is a VERY slight loss of extreme lows, but i find that has a more "focussed" tone.
  19. cheers for the heads up
  20. for a timmy type sound - the v1 danelectro transparent overdrive is great and keenly priced. the mojo was ok but I found it a little farty for my taste I recently picked up both the joyo OJ and the Orange burst. Both are bloody good pedals for the outlay. To be honest I have hardly looked at any drive pedals since I bought them - in particular the burst. I have had compliments wherever I have used it, saying that the bass sound has so much authority and substance to it
  21. my mxr phase 45 is definitely brown
  22. no neck dive on my p basses standing or seated. As mentioned above, must be a lightweight (body that is, not the salesman)
