1. I walk beside you is fairly straightforward, and easily played on a 4
2. I've been using one of these for a few months now, and I am seriously impressed. I've used it in a variety of settings, and not been disappointed in any way. In short a great problem solver for £60
3. Clip on tuner- the snark is great, if a little battery hungry Pedal- korg pitch black, t c poly tune (any variation), boss tu2/3 They all do the job.
4. The shim verb and the Marshall reflector would be my choices. Both are good value and have a few options sound wise
5. They've been selling it in the tin again recently! I was really chuffed once I saw the tins return
6. A big plus one on the Warwick red labels. If things get tight when buying strings, they're top of my list. For me they are second only to rotosound
7. The bod may be a clone but sounds MUCH better than the original. I have used them side by side and found the bod sounded HUGELY better and less fizzy. Rather than the mooer pedal recommended earlier, do try and find the hardwire. The cm2 tube od is a beautiful, valvey gritty drive that will add anything from a little hair to the full on raging drive sound. It has a great two band eq, which will halt any low end loss in its tracks
8. I use marshall cabs with my lh500. I can easily achieve pretty much any sound I look for. I found the Hartke hydrive cabs weren't to my taste. I guess I'm a paper cone kinda guy
9. All of the mooer drive pedals I've tried ( most of the range) lose some bottom end. The most likely candidates for the level of drive you're after in the price range would be a secondhand cool cat transparent overdrive, a secondhand hardwire tube od, or the chord bod50. Obviously IMO and ime
10. Answers to couple of questions would help guide you a little better- What amp rig do you have? What kind of music do you play?
11. I did give it fairly comprehensive testing on Monday. Some of the sounds to be found here are quite reasonable. However I did feel that it was very 'nice', but there was no "wow" factor for me. There are a few redeeming features for me, but not sufficient for me to spend my cash on it. There is a three band eq which is applicable to all the drive models, and a noise gate which could be incredibly useful. I did manage to get some muse-ish tones from the pedal, but there plenty of muff/ fuzz face/ rat a likes out there. Of course, it is possible to save two different sounds on the pedal too. It's definitely worth a try out rather than a buy blind situation IMO. I'm sure there are plenty that would love it, but I'm not one of them!
12.
Then that night the Hungry Caterpillar had a stomach ache!
A quote only a parent would understand
13. Aiming to be. IMO the line up already blows download into a cocked hat
14. I have an occasional gig with a jazz trio. I use my eub and my dearmond jetstar. Both basses are plugged in to a boss ab2. Smooth and silent switching, and quick too
15. I use either a bass fuzz deluxe or deluxe bass muff for hysteria, a mooer fog (!) for time is running out and a bsw for plug in baby. I haven't gigged any others so far!
16. There are so many differing sounds, it would be really helpful if you could be a little more specific song wise
17. I own both a b3k and vmt. I've had no issues with either either side of fuzz pedals. I primarily play passive p basses and derivatives as I don't get excited by either jazz bass sounds or ergonomics
18. It's a very fine line to walk. I've lost count of the the songs I've heard ( and played!) All right now Can't get enough Rock and roll (zep) Smile on the water Paranoid Mustang sally Long train running Play that funky music Etc.... In pubs and clubs. It might be cheesy to a musician, but to a punter it seems that are pure gold (sometimes- when played well) At the end of the day it is the punter that puts the money in the till of the venue, paying your fee, and most of the time it has nothing to do with artistic integrity an expression. My main band tends to take a sideways look at these things and we look for the next biggest song for a band eg zep- immigrant song or heartbreaker instead of rock and roll or sabbath- war pigs or nib or a forgotten classic like dirty women ( everyone likes dirty women ) instead of Polaroid. The best comment we have ever heard in a venue was that we have the balls to play the songs that others don't / can't. I was very chuffed with myself that night
