  1. Doesn't Gary oldman play bass too, and rumour has it he gave a bass to Daniel Radcliffe. Not too sure about bands, but definitely players.
  2. Sounds good in person too
  3. For a good overdrive, I'd recommend the darkglass vmt for lowish gain/ rusty sounds, and ehx glove for more lemmy esque drive The mxr bef for filter- so adjustable and tweakable. Love my evh 90 for phase. Has both modern and vintage sounds in the same box Octave wise I like both the mxr bod, and the ebs octabass. The ebs for smoother poppy octaves, and the mxr for more rocky environments.
  4. Looks like a hybrid of the deluxe and standard models. The knobs are correct for the deluxe, but as already mentioned, the deluxe had the larger humbucker at the bridge The jack socket doesn't look consistent though either. The Dlx I used had the rugby ball shaped plate iirc.
  5. When I need that pickish push, I use either tortex 1.14 or the john petrucci jazz 3.
  6. Perhaps he's referring to the pricing of the older bass whammy reducing now the newer one is released?
  7. Cool. Welcome to the demon club IMO one of the absolute best wahs for bass, and superb value for money too!
  8. What kind of rig are you running? Are you running straight to di?
  9. I've been dealing with them for over 4 years, both in person and via the net. Great people to deal with, and they are always keen to do everything they possibly can in order to rectify an issue, on the rare occasion they occur. For example, about a year after I bought my mif b3k, it developed a grounding problem. They got in touch with Douglas, and a couple of emails later, the pedal was on its way back to Finland for repair, and back with me within a week. Richard is himself a bass player, and has a wealth of bass related fx knowledge. He is always happy to give advice too
  10. Only found about it the day before via franks fb page. Most disappointed as it was my birthday too!
  11. In the interest of fairness, we have now received a full apology from the management. It seems that the staff member that contacted us was not doing so following the instructions of the manager. We consider the matter closed, and won't be playing there again
  12. Hi.. My band was booked to play at the Frenchman in Folkestone this evening, after they contacted us out of the blue approx 2 months ago. On Thursday, the venue again contacted us saying that they had a private booking at the venue who did not want to have rock music played. One of the friends of the band noticed an advert on their Facebook page for a rock band also booked for this evening, seemingly booked three weeks ago. On the advert on their page, some of our usual suspects asked about why we were not playing, to be answered by a post saying that we would be rebooked for a show soon. (This and the questions have also been removed) This morning I received a message from the management of the venue ranting about silly posts, and a promise of not being booked again. We have been playing at this venue for approx. 6 years. This all seems to be due to the new management. I know of at least two other bands that have been treated in a similar manner recently. My message is this- if you book to play at the Frenchman in Folkestone be prepared to be cancelled at the last minute. Be careful!! \ rant
  13. Not aware of any demos tbh. Fortunately ehx pedals are fairly easy to find and hopefully try. Whereabouts in the country are you mate?
  14. Ben, I'm sure we could arrange for you to come overto me and spend some time playing with my many and varied toys
  15. Ben, the nano tubes has a more valvey feel, and to me sounds a little 'spongy' , where as you've heard the glove cuts really well IMO the glove is a total sleeper of a pedal. Just awesome, and only £50!
  16. I'm still enjoying mine too mate. I'm using it for more 'vintage' sounds, and it sits well in the mix. I switch the tone out though rather than using it at all Nice to see someone else is enjoying it and not dismissing ehx completely
  17. I had a play a good while ago. The combination of the two phases can sound amazing! Some amazing textures here. I loved the feature of setting the two phases sequentially too. Enjoy your new toy!
  18. I have one of these for times when getting mains power is an issue http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/281330019175 For the price it's superb. It regularly powers 4/5 pedals for a 4 hour rehearsal with no problems.
  19. The only real way to get an indication of how it sounds to you is to give it a whirl somewhere. The b3k is an awesome pedal, but very definitely the little brother of the b7k. I remember when I tried my 3, it was exactly the sound I had heard in my head at that point. I had heard nothing like it before. Perhaps a 3 and an eq could be a useful compromise, although I suspect once you buy those two pedals, you may as well just go for it and get a 7
  20. As Cosmo said, the mp models are great! I've found myself playing mine more and more, especially since I removed the stock d'addario strings and replaced them with a hefty set of roto swing bass! It growls beautifully, and sits perfectly in a busy mix
  21. My wife has a boss ve20 for her sax. I've had cheeky plays with the unit over the past couple of years, and I'm tempted to get one myself for singing duties. Well worth a try Demo here :- http://youtu.be/eOL18Dhgvjo
